Easy to say when you don’t support the side but Luton fans really need to get over this whole thing about Jones banging on about loyalty and ‘The project’. Of course he’s going to say all these things to his players, it’s good man management and probably part of the reason they are sat in the top 2. If you genuinely believe that because a manager says these things he won’t leave then you deserve to be disappointed.

In fairness to the bloke, he probably meant the things he said and believed it with all the best intentions. He would have no idea that Stoke would suddenly sack their manager and immediately approach his employer.

Gutted. Not much else I can add that anyone else hasnt already said. This is probably the most significant month in our recent history, we did not need this.

Best option would be to give it to Joaquin Gomez. No squad or playing style overhaul is needed like when we appointed Jones so we just need someone who can continue his work. Gomez would surely be the best person for that.

One of the most frightening aspects about all of this has been looking at the list of 'runners and riders' that the bookies have come up with.

Clearly no thought gone into it whatsoever, someone's just plucked a list of unemployed League One-ish managers out of a hat. Graham Westley was joint 4th favourite on the first list I saw ffs :bg:

I was half-tempted earlier to stick £50 on Richard Money as the next gaffer, watch him fly up to evens favourite with SkyBet and sit back and enjoy the Outlaws meltdown.

The Outlaws meltdown is nothing compared to the Hatters Talk flounce.

First reasonable name I've heard anyone link us with is Graeme Jones, West Brom assistant, formerly assistant to Roberto Martinez at Everton and Belgium. An actually journalist claimed that one rather than the bookies so might not be complete bullshit. If we can't appoint internally that would be a decent one I think.

Dont think we need to rush to do anything really on this one. Lets face it, season is over now, we arent getting relegated and whatever promotion chances we may, or may not have have, packed up with Jones, so dont see there being a rush to appoint someone. Get someone to stick them in a 442 diamond for the rest of the season and try our best to make sure we get the right person in.

Not sure they would entertain it, they are onto bigger and better things from Lincoln themselves it seems as have done similar at Lincoln to what NJ has done here!

Personally dont really like the style of football and we certainly do not have the players for it, but it gets results so I wouldnt be necessarily averse to it. They seem willing to embrace new ideas so with this set of players they might amend that approach perhaps.

Like I say, highly doubt they would have an interest.

Yeah I share the opinion they’d wait for a bigger job now can’t be long till they get one tbh. A lot of people question their style of football but their results speak for themselves. Don’t think they’ve had a bad season in management from the bottom to where they are now. I actually played under Danny Cowley at my shool up til I left and have got a lot of friends who have played against them or for them in Essex Senior League, Ryman etc and everyone has always said how good they are. Great to see them do so well.

I don't think that would be right for them or for us.

They have Lincoln on the verge of promotion so they can stay put and be League 1 managers next season. I think they've done enough between promotions and cup runs that they can target a Championship job with their next move.

From our point of view they play awful, agricultural football that would be totally at odds with everything in or history and totally unsuited to our current squad.

Wash your mouth out with soap and water.

Not only does the style of 'football' the polar opposite of what Luton stand for, but having spoken to a number of referees/assistants, and people who sit near dugouts at games, they have a name for being pretty horrible people as well.

Since when did Luton become Barca? Corr blimey and horrible people? Passionate and occasionally crossing the line with 4th officials definitely but horrible people? They have united a City and County with their football club. Of course this has come about by success on the pitch but equally off it. They have done more on the community side of things than you can imagine. Utter drivel!

Made the mistake if heading to Outlaws to see opinions and gossip on our new Managerial candidates and prospects. OMG. What a pile of shit to wade thru. I see on here occasionally it's mentioned there are itk members on there. Anyone care to share who they are these days.

I had a little ganders a couple of days ago due to the Johnnie Jackson rumour and my word your fans are utterly OBSESSED with Nathan Jones. Every other thread has his name in the title and those that don’t quickly are made about him. I clicked on a thread titled ‘Johnnie Jackson’ and after the first post, every post that followed was about Jones. It’s now littered with threads about Stoke and their result at the weekend.

The two historically reliable ones haven't posted in a while and not at all since the management saga began.
Basically no-one has a clue at the moment. It seems the Johnnie Jackson thing was a Twitter piss take that made the bookies some money. I suspect when we do appoint it'll be a name completely out of left field who hasn't even been linked with it yet like the Jones one was.

We Hatter's have prob all have had varying degrees of a meltdown on Jones departure but it's excessive on Outlaws. I do hope we can move on and not have an embarrassing legacy of decades like with Tony Thorpe. I remember Pleat leaving as a similar jolt.

Jones had people believing he'd take us as far as he could and we were only part way along the road. He said and did stuff that made people think he was different and above the rim - that we were his club. His very quick decision to leave, coupled with some recent comments about Barca and then MotM pics in a Stoke shirt just added fuel.

They are mistakes, I guess, if you do move on and as others have said if it's a tactic it worked - but it's a one shot tactic that's spent now. I don't buy into it being down to inexperience either as he's a smart man and in your mid forties at a peak proffessional age. I hope he does well and we as fans learn there is no loyalty. There's a good chance we will take someone and their fans will be upset. Dog eat dog.

Doesn't sound like Luton will be appointing a new manager in January. The concentration this month is on the planning applications for the new stadium (approved yesterday) and the development needed to finance the stadium (decision due on the 30th). The CEO said they haven't approached anyone yet, not sure that's true as West Brom went public that their coach had turned down the opportunity to interview.

I think holding fire at the moment is the right thing to do, key games coming in so keeping to as little disruption as possible is a sensible choice even aside from the stadium issues taking priority.

It's a tricky job to walk into in many ways. Usually when a new manager comes in it's because results have been poor so expectations are lower and the fans are willing to give the new boss time to implement ideas. Here whoever takes over will have a team 2nd in the league and unbeaten in months in the league, would only take a couple of bad results to set the nerves jangling. Also as good as the squad is it can really only play in one system so the new guy won't have much flexibility to impose their own ideas until the summer. Not easy.

Where have you got that piffle from? I suppose Joe Kinnear and Mick Harford also stand for purist football. There's having rose tinted glasses, but you have a whole allotment stuck on yours

Back in for Graeme Jones and this time he's willing to talk (though no guarantees he will take it) per Alan Nixon on Twitter. Seems like he is definitely our first choice and looks the best on paper by a mile of the names linked, wonder what changed in a week though?

Interesting, wonder if that explains the decision to ask for a delay in the second stage of the planning application. They've decided that they have a chance to get their top target and want to give it their best shot now.

Suspected his days were numbered when Darragh whatshisname (who is also a prime twit incidentally) started openly questioning his team selections on Twitter and criticising the decision to play Tomlin wide in mid-week.

Good riddance, absolute fraud of a manager and an utter plank to go with it.

He’s an utter c***. We were genuinely thrilled to get him at Mansfield and the way he fucked us off for you wasn’t clever.

However we got over £200k from you for the fat man and we’re doing just fine without him!

He’s a dick, you’ve done the right thing

Lol at sacking Evans when in the play offs and appointing Ferguson two hours later. At least they’ve still got a trio of hateable “briefcases” in charge.
