Northampton dominating possession but not being able to score seems a problem for them.

It was the same when we played them first game of the season and whilst the win probably was a lucky one, it's seems that's just how they are.

That's Jolley gone, surely?

Normally you'd be wanting a manager getting 12-15 games and losing 6 on the bounce and not scoring isn't ideal but it's probably who they've lost against today rather than the result per se that will be the final straw you'd imagine?

Really really pissed off at that.

In my eyes the players take all the blame for this. Austin had a massive job on to take a team with no confidence and try and turn them round. We started the season playing quite well, just couldn't convert chances and I'm sure if we'd have beat Lincoln as we absolutely should have on the opening day we'd be fine.

However, the rot has clearly set in and this sacking was coming.

Interestingly, there's not a lot of 'YESS' 'THANK FUCK' etc replies on twitter and the players are copping are shitload of abuse. Tuesday will be interesting.

Watching Northampton last week it has to be said they were poor. Don't get me wrong we were too, but we've already sacked a manager and were sat bottom and winless and nil all felt like a move up for us.
The atmosphere at the ground wasn't great either, it felt like a crowd resigned to its fate. Relegated teams need a good start to shake off the crap from the season before otherwise it can just spiral out of control.
Big few weeks for you I think.

Pressure is probably be on, but it won't matter, only one consistent person in our set up for last 15 years of failure and it isn't the manager.

No matter who we have as manager it won't make much difference until changes are made at the top.

Completely agree, I massively feel for Austin. He visibly cares, which is more than you can say for the majority of the players. This is the first of the managers since Wilder left that i have been sad to see go.

Of the names linked Bowyer and Cotterill are a big yes. Curle and Weston HELL NO.

AAAAAAND there we go. Keith Curle appointed manager. Not best pleased with that. Not sure why, just never seemed to like the chap!

That happened fast.. cant wait to find out who the new manager will be come April.

Curle has done okay at all his clubs less a short period at Torquay.
He seems to have early success at new clubs but then becomes jaded/bored and results pale off.
Good luck to him anyway.

Curle seems to keep team out of trouble, but can't kick on.

Short term it's maybe what Northampton need, albeit still early in the season, but I can't see them wanting to kick around mid to upper mid table for too long.

Our local radio summariser and ex scout has suggested that if results don’t improve and Vale part with Aspin then Pope and Adam Yates will be given caretaker charge with the chance to earn it... not sure if that’s Tongue in cheek mind!

Unless we lost say the next 5 games in a row then i doubt aspin would be sacked before christmas wether we wanted him to be or not.

Looking at the next five fixtures it might be the case!

I'd rather win the league games but the way the season is going we will win the cup matches which will make Smurf happy getting a bit of money into his arse pocket.

Darren Ferguson has come out of nowhere in the betting to be second favourite. Oh, we can dream! If we go for Danny Whitaker, as much as I love the bloke, that is pretty much the owners accepting relegation and just hoping to keep the fans on side by giving it to a club legend.

You can have Phil Brown. As useful as a one-legged man in an arse kicking competition.

Quite a mix of candidates there... New Manager in Whitaker, decent manager in Ferguson, ex Manager in Saunders, Clueless manager in Brown.

More chance of Hurst ending up here than Askey methinks.
I see Ipswich have just sacked Hurst. I can see them coming back in for Cowley, dangling the carrot of a pitch that can be watered to his hearts content in front of him. Shrewsbury think they'll basically reverse the summers movements by reappointing Hurst and letting Askey go back to Macc.

Problem is the chairman doesn't like Askey so he won't end up back at Macc.
