You can bet your bottom dollar that if we'd have lost our last 2 games, rather than won them both, they wouldn't have postponed the game.
Yep, scabby bastards. Classic Mansfield. Again. Hopefully we'll actually get what we deserve from the re-arranged fixture this season.

Even then we still should’ve won the rearranged game, well on top for 60 mins until the fat lad came on and changed the game.
Second goal was an absolute peach though.

I remember you having that Devitt play for you that night (was he on loan from Hull or somewhere) who played very well

You mean this goal?

Come on, we battered you for about 70mins in the re-arranged fixture the time that we were flying and it rained for 20mins in Nottingham so you called it off iirc.

Well, not quite 70 - but that first half was probably the best I saw against us at FM that season, lucky to get in at 0-0, but once Rhead scored we assumed control - was quite a big win on the night also as you were knocking around a similar place to us. Just read the report, we drew level on points that night with Wrexham - poor sods, they're still down there - Kidderminster are in an even worse position!

Just seen that Mansfield have won the same amount of games as us this season! Thought they were promotion contenders?

Was that the season you went up? They've all kind of blurred into one big long stressful scramble for a playoff spot. We were always there or thereabouts but without ever really challenging for the title and our seasons all followed similar patterns.

The only thing we are contenders for at the moment is the title for most draws.

And I’m not sure I agree with the international rule to be fair, but any team in the division in the same situation would have postponed the game, against anyone - not just the great Grimsby who have back to back wins.

Yeah, you lost to Newport, who beat Wrexham in the final having beaten Kidderminster in the semi's. Incidentally we beaten Wrexham 1-0 to go up as champions while they rested most of their squad knowing they'd more than likely end up playing Kidderminster who'd need to play a full side against Stockport in hope we messed up. Kidderminster won anyway, sending Stockport down.

The rematch on a Tuesday is probably going to knock around 1000 off the gate too - would have been a 5k+ crowd even with it being a 13.00 kick off.

That night v Grimsby was the night the QLE nearly fell down wasn’t it as we were all doing the boing boing Rheady Rheady? Good times, what a second half of the season that was. Love night matches, especially when they are as big as that one was.

Anybody else remember Jamie Devitt doing star jumps in front of your keeper to try and stop him lining up his wall properly whilst we were lining up a free kick in the second half?
Then Ross Hannah just smacked the free kick straight into the wall anyway. :bg:

Yeah those two playoff matches vs Newport were dire from us. Two utterly abject performances. That season was ridiculous for how much Newport got written off. People were still writing them off in March, then still in the playoff semis and then again in the final but they just jept grinding out results. Did that season kill Wrexham as well, or did they have another good one after that?

At one stage Newport were something like 13 points clear of us. They did the double over us that season

Yeah you lot absolutely smashed it at the end of the season though, was it a penalty away somewhere that won the league on the final day? I have vague recollections of watching a stream of it. Was it at Kiddy?

We won 1-0 thanks to a Matt green penalty. Kidderminster won 4-0 but as we’d scored in the 93rd minute to beat Hereford (another club gone) Kidderminster couldn’t better our win.

Yeah that was Wrexham’s last one in the play offs, the year after that it was Cambridge Halifax Gateshead and Grimsby.

A cracking season for us that. Not expected at the start but JEd and Lotto Les did put a strong squad together. Azza and Jolley did the business up top and solid at the back as the 1-0, 1-0 and 2-0 wins in the play offs show. The 4-3 win at Field Mill in first game of the season was a belter. Winning 3-2 away at Hereford in March after they were awarded 3 pens was the point we started to believe promotion was realistic. Ended with a never to be forgotten day out at Wembley, turning over the gogs. Tidy.

Who do you support?

If it’s a international weekend I would assume that it’s going to be postponed.

Wrexham sink after that mainly because their team was full Dad’s army. Ormerod, Artell, Westwood, Ashton, Keates, Wright, Adebola. Playoff final average squad age: 30.

Spot on. In the play-off final Wrexham were all blowing out of their arses towards the end of each half. We finished each half much the stronger and fitter team.

They had Glen Little, too.

EDIT - Newport had Danny Crow in their side. What happened to him? He never came across as being overly bothered about football.

Not sure who they all are but in today's Telegraph Michael Jolley admits the Mansfield postponement is probably a blessing in disguise for us as we have got about 13 injured players at the moment including illness and players carrying knocks.

That's what makes this all the worse, if we did have those 13 players injured we would still have to play the game, however a team has 3 players going on a holiday and they can postpone the game.

We've got 29 senior players of which 8 are injured. With the 4 on international duty we've been allowed again to have the game postponed. Would still leave us with 17 fit.
