What happened to Phil Thompson's coaching career and Paul Merson for that matter?

Maybe that is why they feel so bitter..

Just a bizarre rant there, Silva is 39 years old so very young for a manager and has a far more impressive CV than any of the British managers you could pluck out of League One and most in the Championship. Its quite painful listening to Paul Merson at times.

Think Merson and Thompson come across as bellends in that clip but they've kinda got a(n incredibly ineloquently made) point. Olympiakos have won 18 of the last 20 league Greek Championships. Third place is the minimum Sporting CP expect. Is that a great CV? Unsure. Think this is an immensely tough job. If he drags Hull out of the relegation places he's done incredibly well.

Don't see the relevance of where a manager is from. It's a results based business. British manager's with bigger reputations have been sacked within 6 months regardless of contract. Don't think those contracts are worth the paper they are written on in terms of employment terms. The fact though. IF they get relegated, which is highly likely, With it being just a six month contract. They don't have to fork out a compensation pakage and can renew or not renew without extra cost. Seems a sensible move for a club in their precarious position. Maybe there wasn't another manager out there prepared to commit to just a six month deal either

Sporting were actually quite far away from Benfica & Porto at a time. It's not as easy a job as it is made out. Olympiakos is though I agree. Panathinaikos are debt-ridden and PAOK are just not good enough to challenge them, it's a piss-easy job. Hull isn't. They are in a very competitive league with an owner who wants to sell and not spend a dime to stay in the Premiership.
