Today is (allegedly) D-Day for us. The club have said they will be making an announcement regarding the new owners and the new manager. The smart money is on Jerry Gill as the new manager and two local consortiums (consortia?) who have combined to buy the club.

Given our board's previous history though i'm more than half expecting yet another holding statement. We can but hope.

Oh FFS. The club statement today is that negotiations are still ongoing. The fact is the current owners are trying to squeeze every last penny out of the buyers to the point where they are very close to putting them off completely.

The buying consortium have issued this statement:

"We continue to express doubt that the sale of the club will be concluded this summer. We have a suspicion the current owners will be unable to agree a deal but will continue to waste everyone's time, ultimately carrying on into the new season."

"In terms of the managers appointment; Our group has had no input to the managers discussions. We have been informed interviews where taking place but we have not been given any information as to what was discussed or who the candidates were, except one candidate. It's incredibly frustrating for us as potential owners and we can only imagine how frustrating it is for the fans of the club who must be displeased with the never ending moving of the decision by the existing owners."

The current owners have consistently lied through their teeth. There are just over 7 weeks until the start of the new season. We have no manager, no coaching staff, no physio, 10 players.

Is this the first time in a while that both relegated sides have been basket cases clubs?

Not really. Us and Orient 2 years ago.

Orient were taken over by the Donut people after they were relegated in summer ‘17, they were probably behind in recruitment but had what has proved to be competent owners, sadly we were the basket case club who still had Sage Investments and Aunty Pam at the wheel.

Yep and we both had shite seasons as a result although ours was arguably worse, narrowly avoiding extinction at the turn of 2018. Notts and Yeovil will have to ride out an utterly miserable first season here. Them's the rules lads.

That bad pal?

It's possible. The current owners have no interest in the club other than how much it is worth as a going concern. If they'd sold a couple of years ago like they could have, or made more of an effort to keep us in the league, it would be worth a fair bit more than it is now. Greed has got the better of them.

There is a rumour that one of the interested buyers is the company that owns the massive housing estate next to the groud, which cannot be good news.

Wow. A well-respected local sports journalist has just tweeted this. Huge if true.

Confirmed that the takeover has taken place, however the new owners have asked for their identity not to be revealed yet. Hmm.

Colour me sceptical but hiding your identity until after the takeover is complete would have me quite concerned..
They’re busy wiki’ing everything there is to know about Yeovil (including how to pronounce it) so they can look knowledgeable and legit for when they take part in interviews.

After having interviewed prospective managers last week the new people want to do their own interviews, they will happen early next week. That means no manager appointed until at least 20th June, 6 weeks before the season starts. Then they have to find some players. And an entire backroom staff including a physio.

It's interesting that the mystery consortium will be major shareholders rather than outright owners. It's looking increasingly likely that they are local property developers, which is very bad news.

today (15th June) is exactly 1 year since we appointed Ian Evatt as manager - he started with (I think) about 6 players signed up - we ended up finishing 10th - so don't panic too much if you get a manager on the 20th june

Kinnear never signed anyone for Dover until the day before the season started!
