Will be updating this weekly. Interesting relegation battle this year. A few teams who look doomed, Barnet who have a lot of games in hand, several starting to come into form and 1-2 dropping back into it. As we get into the last 8 or so games, I'll put remaining fixtures up to compare.

Position - Team - Played - Points
14 Dag & Red 33 39
15 Halifax 33 39
16 Boreham Wood 34 39
17 Barnet 29 37
18 Maidenhead United 33 37
19 Chesterfield 32 36
20 Dover 34 36
-------------------------------------------------
21 Havant & Waterlooville 34 34
22 Aldershot 33 29
23 Maidstone United 34 26
24 Braintree 33 25

14. Daggers - Appeared to be clear after storming form before Christmas. However, have only won once since the New Year away to Maidstone.
15. Halifax - Huge win against Maidstone ended a dismal patch with very few goals. Not out of the woods yet though with an under fire manager.
16. Boreham Wood - Dropping like a stone. Look to have too much quality to go down but stranger things have happened.
17. Barnet - Games in hand galore. Should have enough there to get above the 50 mark.
18. Maidenhead - The masters at grinding out unexpected victories. Some dodgy transfers yet Devonshire still seems to have their head above water.
19. Chesterfield - Hampered by draws earlier in the season, they don't actually lose that often. You'd have to back them to pull clear now that Sheridan has them winning a few.
20. Dover - Seem like they've been in form for quite a while now yet they can't quite pull clear such was the work they left themselves. Again, you'd back them to keep this going under Hess.
21. Havant & Waterlooville - Concede loads but their ability to score goals has kept them alive and will probably propel them to a few more surprise wins. Can they nick above any of the teams they're chasing?
22. Aldershot - Will they make a late run at safety? Out of the three bottom teams, you'd back them the most although they've been dire for a while now. I think they may have a late go at it but it may be too much.
23. Maidstone - Look dead and buried to me. John Still on paper looked a good appointment but from 10+ years of watching him manage, he's a man who thrives on momentum and is not a firefighter. The most likely to go down, for me.
24. Braintree - A few plucky results of late. Going to have to pull a few rabbits out of the hat but wouldn't rule them out of moving up to 22nd or so. If they're still in it with a few games left, they've done alright.

Who do you think are going down?

Think we’ll be making a close run of it. Seen very little in our recent games to suggest we’re going to make the most of the games in hand. Could very easily be conceding 3+ each game if not for wayward finishing and excellent goalkeeping from our loanee GK Huffer, who has just had to go back to Leeds.

We may not go down but there isn’t much sign of a turnaround in form just yet. Given our budget and potential of our squad as a whole, this season has been one of the worst ones in many years.

Current bottom 4 to drop for me. Although I wouldnt be disappointed if Boreham Wood continued to fall like a stone.

Think FC Halifax will stop up because they are four teams worse than them.

By the look of it, National League South could be in for a big influx of teams.

Current bottom 4 down I reckon.

Devonshire and Hessenthaler factors will just about keep their clubs up.

As long as it's 4 southern sides that's all I care about.

about time this league had a bit of georadicalisation

hopefully Braintree will go to the North :)
can oxford/gloucester/ refuse to be switched between north & south as they've already done that before?

[do we need 2 threads for the same subject?]

No. They can refuse if its within 2 seasons since their last switch but after that no. Gloucester where transferred at the end of the 2016/17 season.

I do not want Braintree in the north thanks and I am not sure they want to be in the north themselves

This season Is likely to be our worst in over three decades despite us probably having a top 5 budget and the biggest squad in the world.

Games in hand mean nothing when your form has gone to pieces but you’ve got to think we will scramble enough points to stay away from 4th bottom.

IMO it will be the current bottom 4. I can't see much happening to turn the current bottom three around.

Havants fighting spirit may not be enough, they've lost some of their better players to full time clubs as well in this league. They just don't seem to have enough quality.

Every Chance John Still can build a team to help Maidstone come back straight away though.

Appointing Still was always with an eye on sorting us out next season in the league below. The damage was really done well before he even arrived, not even Pep or Klopp could get anything out of this piss poor group of inconsistent players.

I honestly just can't wait for the season to end so most of them can be shipped out to never be seen again.

Bottom three look gone, think Havant might survive at the expense of one the teams above free falling, Boreham Wood maybe?

When we beat Havant on Saturday we will be 8 points clear of the drop with a game in hand. That should be enough. :ds:

If Havant still had Kabamba, they'd stay up easy. But they don't so, ok who cares. Also, it might help if they didn't stop playing football after every first half.

I still think there's twist in the tail somewhere, hopefully Brexit Wood will continue their long overdue implosion. Can't see anyone else except them at the minute who're likely bottom 4 candidates outside the current lot.

Stink of financial disaster around the Rec again. Relegation may be a blessing,if we get an overhaul on and off the pitch. A real feeling of inevitability about the place. Think we'll be joined by Maidstone, Braintree, and probably Halifax, 'cos last week they looked worse than us, if such a thing is possible.

If you have John Still next season it'll only get worse.

10 league games to come in 32 days, with 7 at home (if we go out of the trophy at the weekend) so we should pick up enough points to find four teams below us.

Would like to get enough on the board quickly to focus my energies on hoping Boreham Wood make up that quartet.

How've Aldershot, as a FT team, managed to go from 5th to 3rd bottom?

A relatively small squad, hit by a continuous injury crisis. Compound that with some very poor signings, dumb tactics, and increasing financial turmoil (again!). It's an apparently endless cycle at Aldershot, and I'm not the only one getting totally pissed off with it. Major change required, or I shall be voting with my feet.

Maidenhead v Dover is a big one tomorrow, though I still think Halifax and Havant have more to worry about than either team.

14. Daggers - Important home win today. 3 more and a few draws should see them safe.

15. Halifax - I thought Havant would win today to tighten it up. A draw is a better result for Halifax.

16. Maidenhead - 3 in a row. Credit to Devonshire. He's sorted them out since Christmas. Masters of nicking a 1-0.

17. Boreham Wood - No game today.

18. Barnet - Better get used to playing Saturday/Tuesday. They play Chesterfield, Barrow and Halifax in their next 3. Will be looking to get points on the board before the games properly mount up.

19. Chesterfield - Lost at home to Harrogate. Still think they'll be fine.

20. Dover - A disappointing defeat. Will be worried that they only have 11 games left. Ideally need 5 wins from that.

21. Havant & Waterlooville - Drew away to Halifax. Not the best or worst result. Keeps them in touch.

22. Aldershot - I thought Braintree would beat them actually. This gives them a chance although they'll have to improve their form and hope this isn't just a one off.

23. Maidstone - No game = no defeat. Their best weekend for ages.

24. Braintree - I thought they'd win today. Looks like being the final nail in their coffin really. Hard to expect them to hit over 20 points in 12 games.

I don't know what March is like for those teams around us but ours is pure aids.

Orient, Salford, Fylde all at home.

Barnet and Barrow away.

Not nice.

Final three games Dover > Havant > Maidstone brings a glimmer of hope if we are still hanging on the thread by the end of the month.

Looking at our March fixtures we should be officially relegated by the end of the month. Only game I think we have a realistic chance of maybe winning is Havant.

Solihull, Havant, Wrexham, Eastleigh, Ebbsfleet and Harrogate
