I can't see four strikers getting that many goals either, it is pure fantasy to expect anything like that. What you do need is for a couple of strikers to get in the region of 20-25, as was the case with Cheltenham last season and others before them. If they are producing form like that then there is no way they will be dropped from the team, barring injury or suspension they will likely play in every game, so no chance for other strikers to get anywhere near that total..

So 2 strikers getting 25 or so = 50. If the other 2 could reach double figures, which they are capable of, that's 70 odd which is in the same ballpark to my prediction anyway.

Even though the other 2 wont play as much they will get enough playing time to get a decent amount, the likes of DCB and Rigoglioso were used as back ups to Beesley and Fleetwood under Harvey in 07-08, and they still got a few goals in a side that although good, wasn't fighting for the title. It's about making changes during games/rotating where necessary. If you get it right, and play an all out attacking style then the goals will come.

Cooper is the first manager we've had since Harvey that places emphasis on attacking first and foremost, which will make a big difference. I think some will be in for a bit of a shock what happens when quality players are allowed to attack. Our side has been held back by poor managers/negative tactics for a long time. The difference this season will be quite noticeable.

We'll see if it works out, but Im very confident my predictions aren't as far off as some seem to think.

Agree with the first part of your post, but there is absolutely no chance York will win the league. Not with that manager.

Why? Because he inherited a load of shite last season?

Massive clear out of all the bad eggs, new, hungry players ready to put the graft in to succeed.

Not saying we'll win it but we'll finish higher than you.

I'm not a gambling man but I'm sorely tempted to bet that we finish above blooming Torquay.

"Young, hungry players" is the one of the most overused cliches ever. Pure management speak bollocks.

Murphy will score 30. Tubbs will score 20. Moore will score 12. Doidge will score 7. Our team is polar opposite to last years style, good attacking passing football! Feeling optimistic

Will your goalkeeper be chipping in with 3/4 as well? Is this new French keeper the non-league Manuel Neuer?

With the way our keepers are being asked to play, it wouldn't shock me. Was actually in the opposition half a couple of times the other night.

I can definitely see you getting hammered by a clinical team early season because you over commit. I wasn't sure about your signings but knew you still had the same defence, sounds different and less safe though..

This is a fairly common view. We had an excellent back four last season, a significant factor in our final league position, but there is a worry that we might not be quite as successful keeping the ball out of our net with only three at the back. Our midfield definitely looks better, the arrival of Noble, Traoré and Chemlal has ensured that to be the case. I think the football will be more entertaining than last season but it could see us involved in some high scoring games.

It happened with us in Wilkin's first home game. We looked pretty exciting in pre season, but far too open. Then Gateshead and Marcus Maddison came to town and they tore us apart 3-0, but we also missed chances ourselves. Instant reality check.
I don't know much about the two French (?) lads and all I know about Noble is he's clearly prone to a stupid tackle that costs his team's (hence why he's down here), but I do know that you need a tight defence to win the league.

I think everyone knows about Noble, he has had a bit of a disciplinary issue in the past but has acknowledged that it is something he needs and wants to work on, he has certainly looked good in pre-season. Traoré was with Swindon last season but found himself dropped following an incident involving laughing gas, one of their fans described him to me as a bit of a gem, from what I have seen so far that seems a fair assessment. I know little of Chemlal, other than he has come from France, but he is a diminutive wide player whose strength belies his size.

It is hard to judge a team in pre-season, we looked great against Cardiff as they allowed us to play, whereas Birmingham bullied us and we struggled. Ten days to go and it all gets under way.

Think we're going to provide value for money next season if we carry on playing the style we have in pre-season, that's for sure.

Look just as capable of getting tanked by the likes of Sutton and Maidstone as we will be of destroying the likes of Tranmere and Wrexham. Any given day could be a thrashing either way, or a crazy high scoring game. We aren't going to keep many clean sheets, so we'll have to try and outscore everyone.

We do look a bit lightweight, so could be bullied if teams can catch us. Getting the ball back will be tough for teams though, as our whole pre-season has been focussed on keeping the ball, moving it quickly and playing between the lines around the opposition press. Our keeper and defence have been given clear instructions not to kick it long unless completely necessary, and we've been playing a very high defensive line.

Quite amusing to see York and Lincoln fans arguing about who will finish higher - something about bald men and combs springs to mind.
I really have no idea how we'll do. I can't see us struggling or challenging for automatic promotion, but anywhere in between looks plausible. I don't think we'll be troubling the top scorers list unless Reece Thompson does well, I think there's more likely to be contributions from all over the pitch. Connolly, Nti, Felix, and Klukowski all look like getting goals. Jack Higgins, for example, got 13 for Stalybridge at centre half last season. Not that I'm predicting he'll match that.
There's also a fairly strong possibility that our top scorer could be someone who is not yet at the club.

It's quite clear you haven't been on this section of the forum long if you class that as "arguing" - it was a mere exchange of opinions. Full head of hair as well, so a comb comes in handy from time to time.

Agree with the basis of the rest of your post, your starting XI looks useful, but again, I believe your manager won't get the best out of them. I'm thinking a Conference Marc Wilmots and Belgium scenario.

I have no agenda, I've stated many times that I care about how York do, I spent six of the best years of my life in your city.

Couple of also ran clubs squabbling over who'll finish higher in midtable, whilst we float overhead like a Space Odyssey Monolith.

Have you seen Moonraker? (As terrible as it is) I was thinking more like the ending to that.

Lol. You're right, it is terrible.

Tbf we are all genetically perfect around here, so that bits accurate.

And in this scenario, I take it Dale is Drax, but who's Bond? Danny Cowley? Matt Rhead? Ukrainian Phil?

I look forward to us getting destroyed by Forest Green Rovers. I don't think that's ever happened before.

Just heard a rumour bt sports are increasing broadcasting time to 45 mins on the highlights programme a senior spokesman was quoted as saying ' its the only way we can fit all fgrs anticipated goals in' .

Furthermore boots have reported there is no connection between the increased sales in back rub in 23 stores nationwide all purchased by customers with a number 1 on their backs and the rumours coming out of gloucestershire.

Sorry fgr i couldnt resist
