Started 2nd half without hylton....
Looks like we'll be lucky to get another draw?
Who else will score for us?

And in a frankly stunning turn of events Luton draw 1-1! Who would have thought that?!

Something like 12 1-1 draws this season, incredibly frustrating.

Well, yet another pathetic result. Forget the top three the rest of the season is all about hanging on to the playoff place.

If Hylton has gone off because of injury at half time we are well and truly porked. Nobody else knows where the net is!

Deserved the win tonight, had the better chances even when down to 10. Another useless ref, getting worse and worse. We get a yellow card for a dive at Dave, Luton get a pen at the Kennel. Sums up our 2 games this season.
Just about keeping our head above water. Playing like a mid table L2 side at mo but we need play off standard.

Once again seems like the midfield is the big issue tonight.

We need a bit of an overhaul of that area in my opinion if we are to reach the next level as I think the defence is ok and in Hylton we have a top quality forward for this league (although he could do with a bit of help up there - Marriott has been a huge let down this year and seems to have hugely regressed), the bit in between is the real problem. When you are bringing on players of the calibre of Olly Lee in games when 3 points are pretty much a necessity I think that speaks absolute volumes.

Perhaps I am being a bit harsh but it seems pretty clear to me that Jones doesn't have a clue what he is doing with the midfield, all the tinkering in there has gone much too far. He clearly doesn't know the best players for each position and the one player he seems dead set on, Cook, I absolutely cannot fathom at all as the bloke is a complete non entity, nothing, no end product type player.

He has accused the players of naivety tonight and someone on Outlaws said in response "pot meet kettle", which i think is bang on. He has displayed that tactically all season with the dogmatic approach to playing the diamond where I am not even sure we have the right players for it, he has bloated the squad, which is something he said he would not do, with players like D'ath and Gray who he clearly does not rate and too many similar type players, in particular in midfield when we have been crying out all season for proper central midfield and holding players. January recruitment was just a bit of a head scratcher, although i feel for him a little bit on the goalkeeper front.

I have said for a great part of this season that this is probably a year to early for us and tonights result rams that home further. I think its pretty safe to say automatic promotion is gone, and with our current form playoffs is no certainty.

Lets hope he has learnt from this season because we have made some big strides and you can see what we are trying to get at, but that midfield does need a re-think.

Hows Dan Butler getting on? Only realised he had moved to Newport when I saw his goal on FLS the other night, presumed he was still at Torquay.

3 shots on target in 90 minutes against the team in the relegation zone that has conceded over 60 goals so far. We've taken 4 points off Newport; but never scored against them from open play, having to rely on 3 penalties from the same referee! Not good even - not even close. 3 points in 4 games; somehow we're still in contention though.

These players need to start having a good hard look at themselves, because time after time, they're not showing up. Lack of ability I can deal with, but when attitude is lacking, that's what's hard to take.

The goal we conceded was absolutely embarrassing. This keeper is on the books of Arsenal?

I like him, looks like he has got good ability, skillful and is positive with the ball looking to make things happen. We are being a bit foolish though I think and playing him in the right of our diamond midfield, which as I'm sure you are aware him being very reliant on his left causes a few issues! Even more odd when we have the somewhat technically limited Smith on the left who barely had a right let alone left foot!

For me though he just wasn't the type of player we needed in January unfortunately, and I'd rather we signed we some proper central midfield players than a winger to shoehorn into one of those positions. Still if he is a player we like for next season and we had an opportunity to get him I understand why we got him and he does look promising.

hope pompey maintain momentum and dont peak too soon .....reckon we've blown it now!!
just dont want the chavs in hertfordshire to go up!!

We have a decent set of fixtures now for the run in, other than Plymouth which could go either way. However.. we struggle against 'easy' teams, especially at home.

Fingers crossed!

I trust you won't be missing him on Saturday then as he's due to play for Malta in the WC qualifiers?

That's a shame - being played out of position is the story of his career so far! Give him a good run of games in his best position and he'll shine I reckon.

Overall he's done well, but had a poor game last night. Signed on a 2 yr deal from Torquay back last summer. Decent going forward but a bit of a liability defending. Better wing back than fullback.
