Yeah, if you're going to try and be a smart arse, at least get the platform correct.

This has become Nintendo's fastest selling console ever. Surprised it's beaten the Wii.

Well, I'm glad you know me well enough to say that because I've no fucking clue who you are.

And interestingly, despite my disdain in the thread, I'm probably going to end up buying one of these things for my two lads. I might even play on it myself but don't tell anyone.

Well all fucking right, I've been trying all week to find something to moan about regarding this game, and now I've finally decided on something:

RAIN.

So yeah, the game has a mechanic where if you try to climb things and it's raining, you slip a lot because of wet surfaces. Which is smart and makes sense, of course... but actually, I'm now finding it more of a pain in the ass than cool feature now. I keep finding myself in situations where I'm having to go a HELL OF A LONG WAY ROUND, rather than doing a very short climb, because of rain. And it's a bit annoying when it feels like I run around fields and shit for ages in nice sunny weather, but whenever I come to any kind of a mountain range it starts to pour it down....

For example of why this annoys me, I'll use the situation I'm in right now... i need to climb somewhere, but it's raining. I look at the weather forecast thing, and it's rain, followed by rain, followed by, you fucking guessed it, rain. And the next one is just coming into view now and it's... well, look at that, rain. So what now? Do I set up a fire and wait? No, because it's raining, so I can't. So I'm sat here, posting this, while waiting for time to pass and for this rain to stop... no doubt in a minute I'll have to go and *sigh* find the long way around... AGAIN... but fucking hell. Plus fuck knows where my horse is, so it's all on foot, too. Goody. Fucking hell.

The only thing I don't like is the motion controls, absolutely hate 'em. Mainly talking about that one shrine that I actually struggled with due to said controls. Loving everything else.

Also, rain is awesome. Stop hatin' on the rain, Oaf.

I had a shrine where it was effectively like setting off a pinball machine. Gave up in the end.

The rain pisses me off too. I never noticed a weather forecast before though

Apparently there's a Pokemon game coming to the Switch this year.

Sun and Moon I think, are coming to the 3DS soon, and the usual third follow up game will instead come to the Switch and will be called Stars. That and Mario Odyssey will shift a large number of consoles in the run up to Christmas.

I reckon I know the bastard Shrine you're talking about as well. Moving a ball through a little maze?

Or at least i hope that's the one... because if it ain't, that means there's more than one, and fuck doing that sort of thing again.

But yeah, ugh, motion controls. Turned them off for aiming ect as soon as I could.

Pah, I posted about Pokemon stars months ago. I actually think that sounds amazing. Can't wait for the next proper Pokemon game though... surely it'll be a proper Switch game, meaning we finally get a proper console one, instead of just a bit of a port

There's at least two. The maze one was easy, once I turned the stupid thing upside down, and just aimed it on to the ramp without any walls in the way.

I've played at least 3 now - one was basically crazy golf...

Didn’t think this would sell well when it was announced but looks like I was wrong!

Yeah it's done staggeringly well for a console with one (albeit, fucking amazing) game.

This being said, I saw a stat today that 89% of switch owners own Breath of the Wild. Which begs the question as to who the hell these brain dead morons in that other 11% are and how they've managed to survive on this planet to an extent where they can afford games consoles on launch yet still make such monumental fuck ups in their life decisions.

Are there really Switch owners out there right now just playing 1-2 switch and Bomberman? Don't get me wrong, I fucking love Bomberman, but I can play that on my PS1, I don't need to shell out 300 quid for a new console to play it in HD.

Well, there were millions of people who bought a PS4 just to play Killzone Shadowfall, or an Xbone to play Ryse... it's like those people who queue up at midnight to get the new iPhone.

Have it...love it...by the time I get FIFA, and. Both marios I'll very happy

For me I never found time to play a proper console anymore, now I can dabble for an hour here and there whilst the wife and I are watching tv...

Only fault I have is getting distracted trying to get to random areas in Zelda...

Got horse stuck too...felt bad so went back to a previous save to get him out

This. Love my xBox One but just never got around to turning it on. Switch makes gaming so much more accessible

It's exactly what I wanted the WiiU gamepad to be, only that unfortunately was terrible

Right, I need some advice. My brother has bought a Switch and absolutely loves Zelda. I'm inclined to believe it's awesome going by the reviews. For me to invest in a game as big as Zelda though is a big commitment and I can't decide whether to or not.

The first Zelda I ever played was 'A link to the Past' on the Gameboy and I adored it. It still one of my favourite games (hoot, hoot). However, the two most recent Zeldas I've played haven't gripped me (Wind Waker and Twilight princess on the wii). Wind Waker was far too 'cartoony' for me. Can't really remember TP that well but I never completed it.

I like Zelda to be quite gritty. The earlier games simplicity appealed to me. Will I like this one? My brother says I'll love it but then he persuaded me to play Wind Waker so I'm not sure I can trust him.

I'd say it's impossible not to get utterly drawn into the game and enjoy the hell out of Breath of the Wild... but you hated Wind Waker?! I'd have probably said the same about that too, as I consider that comfortably my favourite Zelda game until BotW came along.

But seriously, you should probably get it, because it's fucking superb. Or, better yet, sneak a play on your brothers game before making the decision if you can. I'm quite sure that you'll love it.

I'd say for certain situations, there is just no comparison with the Switch. I've got an Xbox One at home, but rarely get the chance to play as most of the time me and my partner will be watching the TV together. The Switch makes gaming so much more accessible.

Like Oaf, I would say the Wind Waker was my favourite (maybe sans OOT) before this one, I loved the sense of freedom and adventure, even if Nintendo pointed you massively in one direction.

There's no doubt you have to get heavily involved in BotW to complete it, I've only done one dungeon so far, but it's an amazing game that will draw you in, and entices the gamer like no other game I've played before. Add in the fact that it's just as good to play in portable mode, and it makes it top of my all-time games list.

Now if they could just remake a sequel to Conkers Bad Fur Day for the Switch I could die happy.

Hang about, I'm supposed to be the guy who comes out with this sort of hyperbole.

A map? Surely you don't mean the maps of the area you unlock via the Sheikkah Towers, as that's made pretty clear on the Great Plateau?

....yeah...think I missed that detail...[emoji15]

I would say get it, already my fave Zelda game, currently on a missing to find spicy peppers so I can make more cold resistant stew....never thought I'd say that

I thought the innovations the Switch boasted were underwhelming when it was announced but I guess it is handy if people are sharing a house with just one main TV. As for BOTW, haven’t got it myself but people seem to be talking about it in a similar manner to the way people talked about Ocarina of Time when that came out (and for many years after!) which is a very good sign to say the least!

Breath of the Wild is an astonishingly big game. Over 30 hours played, and still only one of the divine beasts (dungeons) done. There's just so much to do and get distracted by!

Certainly happy myself to have bought an entire console for one game. Until Mario Kart next month anyway.

This. On a similar schedule, just starting the second beast, 51 shrines or something like that

Just done the second beast myself. Zora and now Rito. Also got the Master Sword tonight too.

I'm on 30 something shrines. Spent too long on the side quests, rather than focus on shrines.

But at least I now have my own house fully furnished...
