The fog is descending swiftly in Milton Keynes so we might be saved seeing the efforts of two inept teams out on the pitch tonight. Even if the game goes ahead.

Dale v Shrews has passed a pitch inspection.

Shrews seem to have got their act together after the change of manager, and will be no pushovers. Like the Chesterfield game, though, if we treat them with respect and play with passion and commitment, we should have too much attacking power for them and get another win.

Can't see us getting anything at Bradford so good to see Shrewsbury, Chesterfield and Swindon all losing tonight.

How on earth Rochdale's 2nd goal stood tonight I'll never know. Not only was the ball kicked out of the keeper's hands by a player who was possibly offside, the ball fell to the striker who was even more offside, standing behind the keeper!! Even the players or fans didn't celebrate until the ref pointed to halfway, I don't think anybody in the ground could believe it was given.

That's 2 away games running where incompetent officials have made monumental errors following the ref at Bolton missing a blatant handball that he's since admitted he got wrong.

That being said we didn't deserve to win the game. Would have been a different 2nd half had it been 1-0 at half time. Rochdale would have probably changed their approach to the 2nd half.

We need to sign some players with a physical presence in January, as every team we come up against seem to be much bigger and quicker than us.

Shrewsbury should stay up on tonight's showing. Second goal shouldn't have stood for us, we've been on the raw end of decisions a lot so I suppose this is one that goes in our favour for once, not that it helps the Shrews at all. Honestly think you'll have enough to stay up, one of the better sides to come to Spotland.

Just seen that second Dale goal.
Pathetic officiating. Seen better at amateur level.

We had a similar thing happen last night when Ched Evans kicked the ball lose from Alnwicks hand and the referee allowed it to continue, luckily Alnwick smothered his strike but awful officiating.

We have a disgraceful amount of injuries.

This could be 3 or 4 nil Southend later on.

Thanks Dale4ever. Hurst has certainly added some belief to the squad and making us harder to beat. Had we played you in September/October we'd have been lucky to escape with a 6-0 defeat. I'm still hopeful that there will be 4 worse teams than us. Quite a few of our fans thought we were poor last night. I'm always interested to hear the views of the opposition.

Rochdale certainly have what it takes to be at the top of the league, one of the better teams I've seen this season. The question is can they keep the pace when the "bigger" teams strengthen in January. I would like them to, even tho I enjoy my trips to Spotland. Can't believe the chippy was closed behind the away end last night, a lot of disappointed Shrewsbury fans!!

Shrewsbury were one of the better teams I've seen at Spotland this season. Can't see them going down.
I was surprised our 2nd goal was given, a weird half celebration amongst the fans around me. Saying that we really could have been 3 or 4 up by the time shrews scored.
The position we are in is fantastic. After the start we had I thought this would be a season of struggle. How wrong I was. If we sort the away form out to be anything like average we definitely have a chance of a play off spot. Onwards to Walsall!

Hurst seems a good manager from what I can gather, and you played some decent stuff at times. We definitely weren't at our best last night though, but like I said I doubt you'll go down, I've already seen at least 4 teams who have been worse on the day against us.

Yeah I heard about the chippy, it's well loved by visiting supporters. I've never actually been myself, maybe I'll have to give it a try. As for whether we can keep it up, I'd love us to, the away form has been a slight concern but if we can just start picking up a few more points away and continue winning at home then we have a great chance.

Our worst performance for a while. Should of taken our chances to make it 2-0. Knew Charlton would score late on

We are top the league say we are top the league. Kept going till the end. Northampton didn't deserve to lose despite us controlling the game but creating no clear cut chances. Another valuable 3 points

Pretty dire, but after seeing that line-up and especially that bench, I would have taken a point all day long.

Not impressed with Southend at all based on that, against a side absolutely ravaged with injuries and full of kids they looked poor, I suspect once they lose one they'll start to fall away.

Special mention to Joe Aribo though who was excellent, the next youngster off the conveyor belt and no doubt Roland will be rubbing his hands.

That side today though, highlights just how important this January transfer window is. I fear it's going to be just as depressing as the last few though.

Yeah, as I say I can only base it on what was on show today, you've obviously played far better.

You just looked like a team that doesn't have what it takes to sustain a real play-off challenge and may well tail off after a defeat, similar to what has happened to Wimbledon. I think you were fortunate that our side was so depleted as you would have been beaten by most sides.

I like Southend though so hope you do keep it up.

Dissappointing not to get the win against a poor Charlton team who I expect to do some business in January and finish comfortably mid table, should been three up by half time at least but the Addicks keeper pulled off some top drawer saves especially the shot from Anthony Wordsworth. Still, twelve unbeaten now, would've bitten your hand off to be sitting in the play-offs after being in the relegation zone in October.

Heartbreaking to lose the way we did. Didn't deserve to lose and with the winner being a fortunate deflection it's a hard one to take. Of the top for the first time in 3 months and down to third, still a long way to go yet though.

I think if we just didn't play for the rest of this season we'd still finish above Port Vale.

It was a tongue in cheek comment based on what some people think will happen to Scunthorpe this season, but feel free to use it to have a dig against the shit club I follow

Two games in a row where Coventry concede an injury time equaliser.

How very Russell Slade, he'll never keep that side up. Simply can not win enough games.

Hardly his fault is it that tbf. I don't see them having many other options either
