Stevencc you remember nothing but worthless information. Did Pagnell ever specifically say that he rated Rooney above Zlatan? As a huge fan of Zlatan and a post machine second only to prime JimJams you would have been right in there.

Perhaps you're right. Thinking about it, I could well have claimed a player I have never rated was far better than a player I knew virtually nothing about. After all, between the two options of that and you making the whole thing up in some sad attempt to make a point, it's surly the most logical explanation.

I don't benefit in the slightest from making it up - but if you are willing to state that Ibrahimovic is far better than Rooney, always has been, and you never claimed otherwise, then that would clear it up.

When Rooney did have that one good season he was massively overrated on this board and elsewhere. To say otherwise is revisionism.

At the very start, Ibrahimovic was chronically underrated.

To suggest the comparison never came up is fanciful, to state you remember what you said is more believable.

Underrated:

Jack Wilshere, I still think this guy is top class, it's just a shame he's become ridiculously injury prone which has made his career stall a bit.
Manuel Lanzini - Too good for West Ham, just lacks a little consistency
Gary Cahill - seem to get pointed out as the weak link in the Chelsea team which is strange, been a solid defender for a good few years now and Chelsea managers always seem to pick him

Overrated:

Michail Antonio - I feel bad for saying it as he's a good player and always seems to score, but they always seem to be headers from corners, not taking anything away from that as it's clearly a big strength of his, he just seems to have little technical ability
Wayne Rooney - Shit, and has been for years.
Willian - Don't see why people rate him so much at all, stood out in a shit Chelsea side last season but that's it

Wilshire is exactly where he should be. Even putting his injuries aside, he isn't all that.

Yeah I dont think he stood out at Bournemouth. You have to imagine that had he never been an Arsenal player and last season was his first in the Prem nobody would think much of him at all.

The thing with Wilshere was that he emerged when both Barcelona and Spain were dominating with their possession based football and he was viewed as the closest English player to that style of play due to his technical ability. However, it soon became apparent that he didn't have a lot more to offer, other than injuries. McEachran at Chelsea was all the hype back then too.

I agree that Henderson is underrated, too. He's not Pirlo but he still gets a lot of stick for things that aren't even true about his game anymore

I still think England looked at their most consistent with Wilshere in the deeper midfield role. That's where I think he's at his best, but alongside a dedicated DM not as the deepest sitting midfielder.

His ability to help a team transition from defence to attack can be very valuable and I'd like to actually see him given a run in that role before I write him off.
