I'm unsure of him in our side still though. He will be sold on regardless so it's probably a moot point anyway.

If we sell him we need to sign someone as good or even better than him.

Yeah. And we have a great record of signing quality defenders.

Matip has been an excellent addition and Klavan has been fine for a backup. At least Liverpool don't have Skrtel anymore!

Matip hasn't been excellent, he's been decent at best. And Klavan barely constitutes backup for me.

If Klopp and Sakho sort their differences and he returns next season, he'd be our best defender.

Not having that, Sakho is fine but hardly our best defender. Lovren and Matip are a far more cohesive unit than anytime Sakho was in the side. Matip when fully fit is a class above.

Sakho was Liverpools best defender before the whole fallout wasn't he? Most Liverpool fans regarded him as one of their best CB pairing, though I can't remember who with, probably Lovren.

He's clearly always had the potential to be a quality centre half, despite looking a donkey on the ball (though he's not), but we've always said that since he arrived in England.

Hopefully we can keep him, but the chances of that are slim to none.

Lovren and Sakho towards the end of last season had a pretty good relationship and we did look a bit better at the back, however with Matip and Lovren there is a calmed assurity in there now. I think another first team CB should be bought in the summer however and have Lovren, Klavan and Gomez as backup, as decent as Lovren is, he's not first rate.
