St. Juste : I agree but as I stated above the answer about the talent reservoir was from Jürgen Klopp and not from me ;) But if it comes to talents reservoir it's not only the higher population otherwise a nation like Russia would be more successful or a nation with not so many people like the Netherlands wouldn't produce so many talents (ok, actually Netherlands isn't the best example :D, but normally it's the case that they have a lot of talents, more than nations with much higher population)

Well, not really, football isn't even the biggest sport in Russia. However, I'm comparing two Western European countries where football is the biggest sport.

Similarly, the Netherlands have slightly overachieved but they are still one of the largest countries in Western Europe so it's not that surprisingly they have done as well as they have.

The outlier underachievers in Western Europe is England, there is no doubt about that.

To throw another stereotype in there that I've noticed, I always find that South American players get praised for their intelligence a lot. "Such a clever little player". He might be dumb as fuck just good with the ball at his feet.

OK, I see. The 100plus Mio are only icehockey mad

16 mio population compared to Germany's 82 mio. For this big difference they made something right (ok, not at the moment)

No doubt about that. But the U20 is actually in the final against Venezuela. But the problem will be when they are playing at "Adult level", I guess.

Oi, German and Scot.

Take your England-bashing to the appropriate sub-forum.

It'll only lead to double, double toil and trouble in my opinion.

Some rumours that we're getting taken over by a complete bunch of Chinese chancers tomorrow.

Why did I renew my season ticket?

Which will then prompt a £30m bid from Tottenham for Dwight Gayle on deadline day.

West Ham (H)
Swansea (A)
Leicester (H)
Stoke (A)
Everton (H)

WBA (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Arsenal (H)
Brighton (A)
Watford (H)

United's first and final five fixtures of the coming season.

Moyes would have been happy with that.

Claude Puel has been sacked.

I'm looking forward to all the expert pundits to just look at the table and say we're deluded for sacking a manager that got us to 8th place, without looking into the actual reasons why he's gone.

Thank God! Taken a while but glad its happened. Grateful to Puel for the League Cup final and another top 10 Premier League finish, but everything else was a mess.

Southampton have a very happy knack of short-stay managers getting them into very good places. Then suddenly, they're gone..!! Nigel Adkins (remember him..?) two and half years at the BVM must have seemed like a lifetime especially as the bloke had the appalling record of achieving back to back promotions from League One to the Premier League. Sacking material if ever there was..!!

I don't like to sound fatalistic, but there may come a day when Southampton fans look up from the bottom of the Premier League table and long for the days when they could so blithely dismiss the boss whilst sitting comfortably in the dizzy heights of the top-ten.

I've been saying this for months mate but they don't agree they want a relegation battle and some good football.

Because your argument is flawed. There are reasons for why Puel should have stayed as our manager and there are reasons for why he shouldn't have and when half the players and 70 per cent of the fans have lost faith in the manager it's time for him to go.

If we do suffer next season then I'll long for the days under Adkins, Pochettino and Koeman. You know, when we failed to keep the managers who were poached by other teams for being successful.

Not Puel, who took us from sixth place to finishing 23 points behind it.

No mate I was kidding, I get why you want him gone. You've moved backwards rather than forwards in the past year and you did so playing boring football. I was even in your corner discussing this at work believe it or not.

That said I'm still thinking it could be a mistake to sack him. However, I see why you'd want him gone and I have for a while.
