We’ve gone from having 2 pre season games last year to potentially 7 this year.. Liverpool and Everton ones still to be announced. Only thing I can think of is we will be playing youth teams against Chorley and Warrington.

Aspo wants our new lads to get used to the wide pitch I believe, think we are expected to face Rotherham at home too actually.

Liverpool at home confirmed for 14th July.
The annual "grit your teeth and bear it" cash cow cringefest returns, with its customary pitch invasion and red flares. Shall we have a trophy made so the reds can really celebrate this time?

Fair play to Liverpool for continuing to arrange this though.

You do realise I’m a Bury fan?

But yeah, Crewe, Chester and Tranmere also play Liverpool at home.

Wigan Athletic (h) – 14 July, 3pm
Warrington Town FC (a) – 17 July, 7:30pm

Chorley FC (a) – 24 July, 7:30pm
Rochdale AFC (h) – 28 July, 3pm

Edit: No said person who claims ITK must have misheard it and Scunny is our final friendly.

Huddersfield will visit Gigg Lane on the 10th July. This one is becoming a regular game as our chairman is a Huddersfield fan.

Quite a decent earner Huddersfield usually bring around 2,000 fans.

As nice as it is to host PL clubs at Gigg Lane, surely we also want some winnable games too?!

Worth noting, as we seem to have to do every season, that pre-season results mean literally nothing. I've seen us breeze through pre-seasons winning every game and then us have a shite season once the real games start.

We beat the recently promoted to the PL Hull City back in 2008, Calvin Zola(exactly!) scored a hat-trick. He scored 4 goals total in that entire season and we were relegated from L1. Pre-season games are useful for clubs because it gets the fitness up and it's useful for the fans because they get to see their new signings in action. Other than that, they are meaningless.

Well true I suppose... but we will get comfortably beaten by Liverpool and Huddersfield you’d expect.

We've added games against Torquay and Weston as part of a Exeter based training camp.
Isn't Weston closer to you than us? And whereabouts - the Uni?
Our new boss says he wants a tougher friendly or two, but we can't play it at SJP so I was hoping we could play a PL or Champ side at Torquay perhps

Our absolutely scintillating tour of non league southwest clubs encompasses all the major names you would expect.

The bright lights of weston-super-mare beckon. Wait... Are we even playing weston?

Think it was the uni, can't recall off top of my head. Think you're right about Weston but it's scheduled then.
ETA Just checked and it's somewhere called Woodbury Park: https://www.forestgreenroversfc.com/news/first-team-news/2018/fgr-announce-pre-season-training-camp

Not a bad little ground for the level they're at.

Going to a wedding in Weston in November (yes, you read it right!) on a Friday, so if somehow we could get a FGR, Cheltneham or Exeter that weekend it would be just right.

We will be playing Rangers at Ibrox on the 6th July. Incredible.

Chester away 21st July also.

Good piss up potential.

We've added Everton to the list. That's Liverpool, Everton and Chester -and Steven Gerrard away. The scouse connection is fully being used up before they are sacked...

We haven't arranged much yet, but it's the usual affair, pre-season tour of Cumbria followed by a couple of hopefully more challenging encounters against northern or Scottish opposition. We usually play someone from the Championship before the season starts. Blackburn or Bolton, someone like that (got Blackburn in the League Cup though). It's likely Workington will also appear on this list at some point.

10th - Barrow
14th - Penrith
18th - Kendal
21st - Fylde
24th - Workington
28th - Home friendly

As normal, away fixtures only in pre-season, but I'm waiting on seeing if we arrange one away to Carlisle City as they have a nice little ground a short walk away. I enjoyed my day out for that last year.

EDIT: Workington now been confirmed, we'll not be doing City and this completes our friendly line-up, which is a shame but have also confirmed we'll be having a home friendly against as yet unconfirmed opposition before the season kicks off.

Hope it's against someone decent, we can't be going into the season with Fylde as the most challenging part of the preparation.

Not great if you're claiming to be ITK and get a simple friendly wrong.
