Shamelessly stolen from League 2...

Quite simple really, predict how the final table will look and the closest wins. Scoring is simply the difference in position to what you predicted so if you predict Team A to finish 3rd and they finish 10th, you get 7 points and the fewest points wins.

You have until the first game kicks off to get your predictions in and I'll update throughout the season. Just list each team from 1st to 24th and the rest is down to me.

Good luck!

I'll do mine nearer the time. Came 3rd in our forum one last year.

Admittedly there were only 3 of us that entered, but still...

I expect most will wait until the season is a little closer. I'll keep bumping this until then.

I doubt there'll be 17 places between us and our neighbours Wrexham

Have people forgotten we still have Brabin at the helm?

Brabin is good enough to get a squad which should be winning the league into the top 3, he's done it before and he'll do it this season. He'll under achieve, but not spectacularly.

And people still naively writing off Braintree I see. Should have learnt by now that they never struggle, whoever the manager is.

Braintree will be an interesting one.

In recent seasons, has a side ever been dismantled so much? Since they got promoted, they've generally added little by little and, from memory, not been too drastic in their changes. Completely different this time around.

I only put Braintree 24th because Id forgotten about them and couldn't be bothered shifting half the league down.

They'll finish about 14th.

We won't finish 3rd, we didn't finish higher than 4th in our 8/9 attempts last time we were down here.

Too early to predict, especially at the bottom. Gonna wait a month and see who else clubs bring in.

The top is easier to predict. Us, Tranmere, Eastleigh and maybe Dagenham (Still factor) are the only genuine contenders imo.

If we sign Tubbs and he's fit and motivated, our team of Racine, Bennett, Clough, in defence, Noble, Sinclair and Traore in midfield, Tubbs and Murphy up top plus Frear and KMB out wide looks pretty damn sensational.

Those 10 are all a cut above this level. Our bench will be packed with quality that would walk into most teams in this league as well. Most importantly we now have a top class manager, and will have a top class pitch which we've widened to help us play our total football.

Looking the strongest we've ever been. If anyone finishes above us they'll win the league.

You have a strong defence admittedly but what makes you think your signings will turn out so great? Of the ones you've mentioned you've got Noble, who is a walking red card and Cooper has had problems with him in the past, he might have decent ability now and again though. Then you've got Murphy, who I'm not sure you can count as being prolific can you? And finally isn't this Traore a bit of an unknown from France? (Correct me if I'm wrong) He could be one of these players who looks strong in friendlies but might struggle on cold Tuesday nights at a Braintree or Guiseley i.e. One of the really compact uncomfortable grounds. We had a player on trial with us called Junior N'Tame. He looked great in friendlies, but then when he got to face some hoofball and heavy challenges he was out of here as fast as he could and I don't think he's played football since!

What a buzzkill :surr:

Seriously though you might have a point, it's tough to tell just how good some of our new signings will be. Most have either come from a higher level or have been very highly rated at their former clubs though, and when you're hearing other fans constantly saying "how have they got him" or "he's too good for that level" it does give you some confidence.

Murphy got 9 in 15 games for Crawley in L2 last season, including a few absolute belters. You don't get a pro deal and spend a few years at Arsenal if you're a mug either. Noble has said he knows he has to clean up his act, if he does he's a class player who scored 10 and made 8 assists in a poor side in L2 last season.

To me our management and squad look top drawer and well balanced, which hasn't been the case before. We might fuck it up and turn out shit, but I'm staying bullish for now.

That's exactly it Chris, none of us have any idea about how our signings will work out. Some players just fit at certain clubs and some players don't, whether that being down to the playing style, tactics, or maybe just not having any cohesion with the team and management. This league is completely different to the leagues above and if you don't have the right attitude or determination for it, the player will struggle. I agree in part with your point about Murphy and the Arsenal connection, but i'm sure there are many examples of young Arsenal players who haven't done much else since and would most likely have struggled in this league. Emmanuel Eboue or Justin Hoyte are two off the top of my head, maybe even a Jermaine Pennant.

I thought that after all your boasting last season and then how your season ultimately ended you might have learned a bit of humility, hope for your sake you are right or your comments will once again come back to bite you in the arse.
