Regardless of who's got the best team/squad in this league, one thing i think both Lincoln and Tranmere fans can agree on is that it's nice to be involved in a race for the title come April time. As both clubs haven't been involved in anything like this for a long long time.

Depends on what a long time is..

We had a few chases like this in league one.
02/03 chasing QPR for playoffs and finishing 7th on 80pts
04/05 getting chased down by Hull for automatic promotion
08/09 finishing 2 minutes away from the playoffs..
12/13 being top and collapsing to mid table..

Bit of a theme going on there. Moving on..

Think we'd have to go back to 94/95 since we were in a RACE to WIN the TITLE in APRIL.

We have had numerous promotion bids, but 94-95 was the last time we had a serious chance of winning a league. Top of the Championship at Easter and then ballsed it up in spectacular fashion.

The only other seasons where we have come close were 2004-5, where we were quite a long way behind Luton from early on, and 2012-13 when we were top of League One in February and then collapsed.

Spot on fella!
Our last failed playoff bid was a decade ago.
Our last promotion was in 1998.
Our last Championship winning season was 1988 when we won this league!
Just hope we both go up one way or the other!
Reckon they should just let us both go up anyway if we finish a long ahead of 3rd LOL!!!!!!!!!!

2006/07 was the last time we looked like going up and we bombed it in the final couple of months of the season needing a win at home to Chester I think to make sure of a PO place in the end.

Roles reversed for the next week. Tranmere did their job of winning their 'easier' games, whilst we got through our tricky ones (FGR, Dagenham, Eastleigh). Now Tranmere have FGR and Aldershot while we have Chester and Torquay.

Whoever wins it will have certainly earned and deserved it.

I'm still finding this whole season a little bit weird, tbh. I still can't quite get my head around it.

We've let them think they've won it but they'll be sick to the guts when they manage just one draw out of their remaining, we win our last three and go up as champs. Nurse, the screens!

Sorry I couldn't resist I doubt it too but you never know. I know Danny was aware of the comment but was very gracious at the press conference.

Does this mean Tranmere and Lincoln won't be needing thousands of tickets away to Maidstone? Disappointing. I was looking forward to exciting title deciders and upsetting someone. Now we get a relegation survival party and two meaningless games.

Spice things up by beating them and taking the day off against us. You know you want to.
