We will be closer to 42 than we are 49 after those three games. We are the team everyone is saying 'oh they'll be alright', but we will inevitably slip into relegation zones and show no fight to get out of them. Even a lot of our own fans are overly optimistic. For some reason they are not seeing just how utterly shit we are. It is worse than some of the shit Ronnie Moore served up, and that is saying something.
I was at the last 2 away games ,;with a bit of luck it could have been 4 points and not 1 ...... I am of course being optimistic and completely ignoring the home game in between

Well I think we got what we deserved at Blackpool personally, we were fortunate they were shit too, but still couldn't take anything from the game. Wasn't at Morecambe, but by all accounts we were lucky to cling on to 1 point.

We were lucky ,,no doubt ..... the young keeper from Boro looked decent , and may well have one of those games shortly meaning we nick a win unexpectedly ...hopefully 4 points from Easter , but 3 will do if Newport get the same , then roll on Cheltenham and Barnet where we should get ourselves safe !

A number of our fans are seriously worried about us going down. Our form is wretched, it's a possibility.

I honestly think it's between us, Newport and Pools now.

I honestly thought we'd turned the corner, but the 5 game losing run before we beat Morecambe really did us in. I'd rather be in our position than Newport's and Hartlepool's, but I can't shake this unnerving feeling we're going to be the first team to come up from the Conference and go straight back down.

Cheltenham will be fine after they beat us on Friday. No James Collins = no goals.

I'd be surprised if we managed another win this season.

If us and Yeovil lose on Friday the loser of our meeting on Monday will be deep in the mire. One win for us and hitting 50 points for Yeovil will be enough to see us both safe I reckon.
One win will see Crawley absolutely safe.
Morecambe can't seem to buy another win but one win might just be enough.
Pools have three horrendously out of form sides in their next three games.
Cheltenham will be fine now Johnson is back.

The relegation scrap is gonna come down to how much steam Newport have in the tank. I fully expect them to beat Yeovil but their run in is so horrendous after that game...

As I said before though, I believe Yeovil beating Newport could end this relegation battle, however I just can't see it happening.

If Newport do beat Yeovil , then Yeovil are in the mix , no doubt ..Yeovil have the chance to put all thier fears to bed by winning that game

Big winners of today are Morecambe with an unexpected win at Stevenage and Newport one-nilling again with crucial points for Crewe and Crawley as well...

Updated table after 42 games

17. Morecambe - 50 points (-16) - Colchester (H) Exeter (A) Wycombe (H) Luton (A)
18. Crewe Alexandra - 49 points (-11) - Yeovil (A) Leyton Orient (H) Plymouth (A) Barnet (H)
19. Crawley Town - 49 points (-15) - Accrington (A) Carlisle (H) Cambridge (A) Mansfield (H)
20. Yeovil Town - 46 points (-14) - Crewe (H) Grimsby (A) Stevenage (H) Colchester (A)
21. Cheltenham Town - 44 points (-14) - Grimsby (H) Blackpool (A) Hartlepool (H) Portsmouth (A)
22. Hartlepool United - 43 points (-18) - Leyton Orient (A) Barnet (H) Cheltenham (A) Doncaster (H)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
23. Newport County - 42 points (-18) - Plymouth (A) Accrington (H) Carlisle (A) Notts County (H)
24. Leyton Orient - 33 points (-34) - Hartlepool (H) Crewe (A) Colchester (H) Blackpool (A)

52 will definitely be enough to stay up in my opinion unless Newport decide to keep up this 1-0 and win bullshit and other sides rally unprecedentedly. Though Notts County and Barnet are not yet mathematically safe, Notts have 53 and Barnet need 1 draw from 4 games to hit 52 points so they're not worth including I feel.

MORECAMBE - Will be safe if they win and Newport drop points on Monday. Alternatively they'll be safe if they're 8 points clear of both Cheltenham and Hartlepool by 5pm on Monday. This is due to these two playing each other at the end of April.
CREWE AND CRAWLEY - Will both be safe if they win and Newport lose on Monday. Alternatively, both will be safe if they win, Hartlepool fail to win and Cheltenham lose.
LEYTON ORIENT - Will be mathematically relegated if they fail to beat Hartlepool on Monday.

As for the others, a win for Yeovil against Crewe on Monday will take them level on points with the Railwaymen which will cause a lot of nerves in South Cheshire (mine are already at high levels despite a 7 point cushion). A Yeovil defeat will see them truly in the mire whereas a draw will be beneficial for Crewe rather than Yeovil.

Cheltenham have a 1pm kickoff vs Grimsby, a failure to win this game could see them in the bottom 2 by 5pm on Monday Evening.

Hartlepool travel to beleaguered Leyton Orient with a chance to relegate them. However, this is not a guaranteed 3 points by any means and Hartlepool dropping points could see them joining the O's in the bottom two by 5pm on Monday Evening.

Newport once again win 1-0, might as well just hand them a 1-0 win at promotion chasing Plymouth now. A loss for Newport will be a huge blow however if all three sides above them were to win on Monday and if they were to lose.

It's all down to Easter Monday now, hopefully we can finally get ourselves out of the bastard relegation thread on Monday but knowing this disappointing club I support we're gonna be here till the final day irrespective of our 7 point cushion.

I'd much rather have our next two games than anyone else's at the bottom, it's still very much in our hands both winnable games, gotta be aiming for 4 points minimum.

If Newport can manage 3 points or more from their next two games then they'll deserve to stay up because that'll be some feat.

Cheltenham will beat us on Monday, so Hartlepool and Newport need to stay focused!

I bloody hope so. By all accounts we really should have won today, definitely 2 points dropped.

Definitely squeaky bum time now.

I reckon 48 will be enough looking at Newport's fixtures.

Feel for the other teams at the bottom that don't still have to play us. We are proper crap and if we had 8 games left we would 100% be going down.

Hartlepool and Crewe will get three points against us. If you score you win. Simple.

Nugent is a disgrace.
We were one point of the play offs when he was appointed.
Since then he has got 7 pts (1win) from 33 available.

I am fuming.

Excellent summary.

I'd say look in the boardroom and on the terraces, as well as the pitch - Orient and Hartlepool might just be capable of saving the Exiles for another year.
I think Pools have proved my point by now and delivered their usual flirtation with 23rd place. A couple of months on, I'd be happy if they now build on the 3 points we gave them in March to grace us with their presence for another season.

I can just about see Newport and Yeovil finishing on 46 points - in which case goal difference will be crucial, especially if Pools can only manage one more win. Orient and Yeovil would be my current favourites.

A few clubs will be Wanting us to them a favour on Monday when we play Hartlepool, but we've lost all of our home games this calendar year!

If we fail to win Monday, we are mathematically down.

And we have 1 win in 15 away, with 11 defeats, it's going to be a slobberknocker :ohn:

This thread is over, it's us and Orient.
At first I thought you might get dragged in to it , but I think you have some decent fixtures to come .....we have Donny last game , so for us it's 3 game left ....we can't afford less than 6 from them

I doubt we will exist as a football club past the next year. There are some extremely dodgy dealings going on that are being kept very quiet.

Watching the goals at the weekend you can't help but think newports pitch is an advantage for them. They probably know how to play it better.
It's fucking awful. Should get a points deduction for that. It's April and it looks
Like Blackpool beach.

I'm not sure that's the case as there has been some flowdown from the Premier League TV deal and there is more money from the new Football League TV deal.

We're not seeing any sign of it, gone straight into some people's back pockets I fear.
