I still reckon we could easily stay up tbh. The dude from Bournemouth hasn't played yet so the defence has improvements incoming, and DSY's been a lot better than we were led to believe by the Woking lot. Add in that Flish has been a lot more like his old self recently and there's plenty of reason to be optimistic.

Yep the only good thing to come from this shambolic mess of a season. Im just hoping massive changes are made in the summer (other than a couple id get rid of the whole squad) and we dont underestimate the Conference South. Its not gonna be the walk in the park some of our fans think it will be.

Also with Hessenthaler & Steve King (was in the directors box at the Torquay game) hanging around like bad smells. Im starting to think Jays job aint very safe....no surprise really. At any other club he would of been sacked with this terrible run we been on.

Would seem a bit harsh to sack Saunders? Hasn't he just led you to 2 successive promotions?

The problem is we need more than just 1 new defender. Coyle & Acheampong have been liability for to long now, yet we still continue playing them. Changes at the back should of been made a long time ago.

Then we have our forward situation....no one is scoring or look like ever scoring many. This whole season from recruitment to tactics has been totally miss managed from the get go. Why i like Jay i really dont think hes the god a lot of our fans think he is...sadly this season hes looked way way out of his depth

I'm amazed at how demanding Maidstone fans are. What were their expectations coming into this season? Did they expect to have an easy ride in a division they've never been in? Some of them need to have a right look at themselves and realise how far the club has come in such a short space of time. When Woking won promotion back into this division we just wanted to stay up, anything else was a bonus.

He's taken you from the Ryman South to the National League. 3 promotions. Some managers haven't achieved that in their whole careers. I'd say he deserves to be highly rated amongst your support, surely? If you finish 5th bottom that's decent enough for your first season up.

Its more so his questionable recruitment and tactics this season.

We been playing hoof ball all season and it hasn't worked yet we still continue doing it....nothing changes on that front, its like we have no plan b. I could understand if we actually had some big target men, but until we signed Delano we had midgets upfront who were never winning anything up top.

Everyone knew in the summer we needed to make major changes if we wanted to finish top half (thats what our owners & manager said they were hoping for). Yet we decided to re-sign all of last seasons squad and just sign a couple Conference South players. Then since the season started we have seen constant chopping and changing, players signed and then released a couple of weeks later. Most of the players signed/re-signed in the summer have since been released or proven not good enough.

Now we stuck in a situation of struggling to sign anyone half decent. Im far from wanting the manager fired, but i feel an experienced manager would of done things a lot differently and wouldn't of made the mistakes that Saunders made

Yeah at the beginning of the year I had us pegged for 17th IIRC, but really just staying up would be enough.

As Raymondo said, it's the stuff Jay does that has us scratching heads. Re-signing Jay May and Ben Greenhalgh who wasn't good enough two divisions below, starting Flisher over and over when his form simply didn't warrant it, the aforementioned hoofball to midget forwards, the Joe Healy fiasco, failure to fix a defence which has been catastrophically bad etc. Its the kind of stuff that would get most managers fired, but he's earned slack over the past few years which is why we're not all calling for his head.

We had similar defensive issues early season. Rather than sign more center backs Locky signed Simon Walton who sits in front of the center backs and is an impressive shield there. He is very good on the ball too. Big improvement right there for us - at home anyway!

We did something similar by signing Prestedge and Lewis, but then he keeps fucking around with the formation so nobody can get settled.

As much as I'd enjoy winning the FA Cup the prospect of East Thurrock away is chilling. So I'll be greedy and go for both survival and Cup glory
Imagine what the fixture computer might come up with. Truro away on the Tuesday night, Viktoria Plzen on the Thursday and Weston-super-Mare away on the Saturday.

I have a friend who hasn't missed a Sutton first team game since 2004 (all whilst having a full-time job, husband and baby). I bet she'd be thrilled with the prospect

Our form over the last 10 games is good. Hopefully if we can keep this up for another few games i think (am hopeful) we can drag ourselves to safety.

Braintree won't go down, they didn't look a relegation side in October at our place, let alone now. You've started scoring now, which was the key.

Trust me Chris, I don't understand why any of are fans are even considering calling for Jay's head, I mean for christ's sake if we stay up then just a single place improvement next season would I believe put him in the record books for most consecutive seasons improving on the previous year's league position with the same club!

Well we just announced we're definitely going full time next season. Been no mention on if its dependent on staying up or not.....so we could be full time in the Conference South :eyes:

EDIT: 24 minute interview with the owners confirms we will be going full time no matter whether we go down or not.

jay saunders just signs another years' deal with us. thought i'd let everyone in the relegation thread know, as we'll be leaving said thread in the next couple of weeks, and i doubt if we'll ever be back. has anyone started next seasons title contenders thread yet?

I'll take staying up followed by a relatively boring season bar a cup run, thank you very much.

Welp, I'm sure Oliver and Terry have crunched the numbers and figured we can manage it but... not sure myself about being full time. Especially without the ability to go further than the Conference as it stands.

Re: the Dawes deal, if he's learned a LOT from this season, it'll be alright. We'll find out in the summer.

Only Ferriby got 3 points in the scrap yesterday, vital win and the 2nd double of the season.

11-13 games left for everyone to stay in the national league, at this stage I was expecting at least 2 teams to be out of it completely but everyone is still clinging on.

I still think less than 50 points will keep you up this year. Sutton/Braintree are 2-3 away from safety so it leaves Torquay, Guiseley, Woking, Maidstone, Southport, us and York.

Ferriby's remaining games.

Woking (H)
Bromley (A)
Solihull (H)
Tranmere (H)
Sutton United (A)
FGR (A)
Boreham Wood (H)
Eastleigh (H)
Barrow (A)
Aldershot (H)
Torquay (A)

Need to target wins vs Woking & Solihull and hope Eastleigh and Borehamwoods form is still crap when we play them and that takes us to 42 pts. Can't see many more points being won apart from maybe sneaking some points off Bromley, Sutton, Barrow or Aldershot.

Would be nice if we could take it to the final day, Ferriby clinching survival in front of 8 away fans at Torquay would be glorious

On current form if nfu beat eastleigh they may even move above them

I think a win and a draw would probably be enough for them, surely they can manage that with 12 games still to go. If not and we can drag more teams into then that benefits us as well.

Doesn't matter if North Ferriby stay up anyway. They will be relegated because their ground won't pass the FA's regulations.

If that does happen and they finish outside the bottom 4 then I dont think anyone can say they didnt give it everything.

Would be great for Housham and the squad to go down with their heads held high after this season.

Yup, it's why I'm pulling for them to win each game against our relegation rivals!

They may be going down anyway, but if NFU finish outside the bottom 4 that could help provide funds to improve the ground, meaning when they come back up they will deservedly be regarded as equals.
