WATFORD
IF he did leave Real Madrid (probably unlikely - will get a new contract and the tax stuff will be brushed over with..) how many clubs could afford him?

Would Man U be the only realistic return to the Premier league?

Not sure this belongs in the Premier League section, it'll die down and he'll stay in Spain.

If Chelsea are serious about supporting Conte in the transfer market then how about a polite inquiry.......

He's going nowhere. Firstly, because this is just Ronaldo being Ronaldo, the petulant, spoint little brat throwing his toys out the pram because someone has dared question his integrity. I've little doubt he has no desire to move, and it's likely about getting people to beg him to stay in order to further massage his already gargantuan ego.

And secondly, and more importantly, he's 32 and, despite his undoubted quality, is arguably worth little more than what Real paid for him 7-8 years ago, never mind the frankly ludicrous £300m+ Real are now saying would be required to land him. Despite the size of his name and brand, I can't see any team paying more than £100m for a player who realistically has no more than a few years at the level that made him one of the best players that has kicked a ball. Even in today's ridiculous market, that's the type of money you pay for the next 5+ years ala Ronaldo to Real in the first place and Suarez to Barca.

Nice try, but you're fooling no one. Still, the papers and media will recite it on continual repeat because there are idiots out there desperate to believe it (no particular club fanbase being mentioned of course).

United and PSG would definitely pay over £100m and the ludicrous wages that he'd require were he to actually become available.

I guess we will never know given that Real have stated it will cost £350m to get him. Even if you take into account they're likely exaggerating, you're probably still talking over £150m. Surely even the newer, fully signed-up members of the 'buy success at any cost' club like United would baulk at that for a 32 year old.

I reckon we'd be willing to spend up to £150m if we had a genuine chance of signing him. At 32 and showing no signs of slowing down I'd say he's still got at least 3 years of scoring consistently. That'd be £50m a season for 40 odd goals a season and imo pretty much guaranteeing winning the title.

But I don't think there's any chance he's leaving so it's all moot.

You also have the issue of Mourinho. I seriously doubt Ronaldo will have any interest in playing for him again, it would be another battle of who is the biggest, egotistical twat like at Real. Even if he was to leave, I can't see it being to United whilst Mourinho is the manager.

But, as said, it's moot anyway because he doesn't actually want to leave.

I doubt that'd be an issue, apparently they're on good terms now. Until last season the only time Ronaldo won La Liga was with Mourinho.

But, to be fair, that might in large part be about Mourinho no longer being his boss.

Trouble is at that age injuries have far more impact than at younger ages. Players who pick up an injury in their early to mid thirties dont tend to recover very well, if at all.
Reckon thats why you're not keeping Ibra.

A cold Tuesday night at the Britannia might finish him off.

Manchester United will offer Spain goalkeeper David de Gea, 26, and £183m in exchange for Portugal forward Ronaldo, 32, and his Real Madrid team-mate Alvaro Morata, the 24-year-old Spain striker.

A classic example of what I was talking about above.

Can this thread be renamed "Cristiano Ronaldo", please? Using "Ronaldo" just doesn't seem right.

Can we add another dot to the ellipses while we're at it, as well?

No mate there used to be another famous player using that same name back before football was invented by Pep in 2008.
