Isn't this what happened with Pulis? Dodgy characters or dodgy board?

He'll probably walk into the Watford job or something similar.

England should fuck Southgate off and get the big dog back in his rightful place.

Palace are due a meltdown. They have one every five years or so.

Bizarre that they've managed to go from Champ also-rans to spending £30m on internationals in the space of three years.

Back to Sunderland?

Waiting for a bigger club.

Don't think the Pozzos would consider him.

Why is it bizarre?

Officially resigned, seems strange but if the reasons he's given in his statement are true, and it's not down to a lack of ambition from the owner in the transfer market then fair play to him. Had a successful managerial career and earnt himself a fortune, can retire a happy man.

Disappointing for Palace but it's come at a good time and gives them plenty of time to bring in a suitable replacement, Marco Silva from Hull perhaps?

I always wondered how he motivated himself after reaching the top of his career with the England job.

Guess this answers it. Finished on a high though. A bit crap for Palace.

Marco Silva is to be named the new Porto manager imminently apparently

Be a great job for him that, Carvalhal was linked recently but think that was just paper talk.

A lot of struggling clubs will try to pull Big Sam out of retirement I reckon. A ridiculously good record. Shame that he fucked up as England manager.

Definitely feel England missed out on Sam, even before he was our manager (I've never rated our managers anyway!), oh well. He proved his worth and left.

Where we go from now I don't know, I couldn't even say a name that I'd want right now. Most Palace fans will say Mancini but that's asking too much, trying to prise Rowett from Derby would suit me, personally.

An awful and very dodgy character. Like Pearson he will not be missed.

I sincerely hope he doesn't go into punditry.

Lol that ain't an argument.
I'm not about the argument life. The reality is PL money means it isn't bizarre. Even Bournemouth are supposedly going to splash £125,000+ a week on Defoe. If fackin MILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLWALLLLLLLLLLL got promotion you'd be spending mega amounts in next to no time too.

He's just a straight talking football man and although he may seem a bit gruff and shady, underneath he's a soft hearted philanthropist. Deceptively wise too. A real shame that he's decided to quit although I'm sure we'll see him talking sense on a tv screen presently ( here's hoping)

Still can't get over the fact we replaced him with Southgate in the first place, completely different styles. Just betrays the complete lack of direction or clarity of thinking within the FA

Well, no he's not, he lost his most high profile job for his dodgy dealings. And that is just what we are aware of.

Both him, Redknapp and many others have polluted football for a long time. It's great that these dinosaurs are finally being phased out and I have little doubt that in 20 years or so the full manner of their misdeeds will become apparent.

Allardyce calling diving rubbish was sadly an indication that he intends to go into punditry - to promote "technology" was a brief Sky gave him. How depressing. I wonder what company he thinks should provide the "technology".

I'm certain Sam's retirement plans will be tested come ~ November time, when a club finds itself in the bottom 3 after a dodgy start to the season. Will he turn down the inevitable sacks of money that'll be offered his way in return for another survival grind?

As a football man myself I like his straight talking, no nonsense ways. As for "dinosaur" let's not forget that he was the first person in the football family to embrace sports science so readily ( criminally under reported tbh) . For me his misdemeanours can be filed under shenanigans and shouldn't be used to undermine his place in the football pantheon.
