Let's just clarify, never once have I said the he's "some Premier League quality defender" so I've no idea where bullshit that has come from, but if we're going to play a back three then Wright should fit in nicely alongside Flint & Magnusson with Hegeler sat infront.

Some PNE fans rate Wright higher than others but time will tell for us. It's worth noting that some PNE fans said Brownhill wasn't good enough for them when he left them yet since he's come into the side on Boxing Day he's made the step up to this level with absolute ease and will only get better at his young age.

Brownhill was always good enough for a championship side imo, at the very least a L1 side. Just had a bad attitude, got dropped and rather than try and work his way back in like Browne, spat his dummy out. His dad is also convinced he should be playing for England now :ffs::fl:

Brownhill isn't good enough for us though, wouldn't get near our midfield and would have found himself out on loan again had he stayed.

He wasn't getting a sniff at your place either when you were at the right end of the table, that's not saying he isn't a decent prospect mind.
He probably would with Pearson out suspended, even Walsh gets a game for you now and again.

Yeah he didn't get much of a look in earlier in the season but he's been really promising since he's come in, I think we've got a player on our hands and one that cost very little.

Yeah I remember reading his dad's comments when he signed about how he was going onto "much bigger and better things" which surprised me that he was trying to wind up Preston fans after they picked him up after he was let go from United.

He wouldn't get in ahead of Alan Browne, no chance and he's behind Pearson, DJ & Gally.

Welsh does a great job coming into the side when called upon too, in a scrap away from home i'd rely on him over Brownhill any day.

There's the untried Liam Grimshaw too who is struggling to get minutes.

This thread is brilliant.

Brownhill wouldn't make our bench let alone compete for a starting place hence why he left.

He'd have got his chance this season then and taken it like he has with us. Pearson's had suspensions, Gallagher had a long term injury and Johnson was out yesterday. Grayson obviously rated him hence offering him a new deal.

I like him a lot, currently he's found himself ahead of O'Neil (been injured), Pack, Korey Smith and Bobby Reid in the pecking order.

He left because he chose to join here instead of Preston, hence why you got compensation for your loss.

He was offered a new deal so we got compensation. If Grayson wanted to keep him he wouldn't have sat him in the stands each week and then loan him out to Barnsley in League One.

This is Pearson's first suspension, he wasn't in the team at the start of the season, with Pringle and Browne starting instead.

As I say, Browne is the better player and would have got the nod if either of the players you mention were out.

We offered him a deal knowing he was going to leave so we would get compensation, he couldn't break into last season's midfield, would have had no chance this year.

He made the right decision to leave.

Exactly, Pearson wasn't even making your team at the start of the season, yet a few months on I read the other day that he's "the best player I've ever seen play for North End" so obviously players improve.

I didn't once say that Brownhill would be an instant starter ahead of your midfield options anyway, that's that Leyland **** putting words into my mouth, but he'd have got his chance at some stage this season whether it'd have been a cup game or a league game when you had a few knocks and suspensions.

He's probably glad he joined given he's getting regular football albeit in a side that keep losing anyway, but he looks decent. He's undoubtedly improved since you'd have last seen him in a PNE shirt which by Soccerbases reckoning is January of last year.

When he was on loan at Barnsley we had an injury crisis in midfield and chose not to recall him, he's not good enough just accept it.

As for the **** comment just because I disagree with your rose tinted view of everything Bristol City get over yourself. Bellend.

Maybe you didn't have a recall clause, just a possibility.

Maybe he has improved but he was given chances last season and failed to impress, with the amount of game time he would have seen this season I think it would have been a similar story, being shipped out on loan again. I've seen a fair bit of the guy over the years and i'm not sure what he would add to our side this season.

Again, not saying he'd be some sort of revelation for you, he's a similar player to Browne from what I've seen and would've been a decent option for you to have.

I remember watching him for Barnsley last season and wasn't too impressed. It's a shame we missed out on Pearson really, Johnson signed him for Barnsley and you snapped him up permanently just before Cotterill was sacked.

He's nothing like Browne.

Maybe you should stop commenting on a football forum as you clearly know fuck all about it.

How many times have you actually watched Brownhill since he left you?

You ought to open your eyes, Bolasie did fuck all for us but has gone onto have a fantastic career, if you were to ask me about him I wouldn't make out he wasn't good enough for Bristol City because he couldn't get into the side here.

You're incredibly ignorant.

Oh I know that, after all most of our players aren't good enough when we sign them apparently.

Some players' performances can change you know...

I'm sure the City fans, if a bit disappointed to lose him, wouldn't have believed Luke Ayling to prove an absolute revelation for us in a side in 3rd place.

We had Schmeichel, Clayton, Lees etc at ours who were decent but didn't lose much sleep over losing them and they're loved by their new clubs...football can be a weird game and players aren't robots - their performances can vary in different scenarios.

Another case of us having a good individual but not getting 110% out of him in this division. Same with Cunningham. Same with the whole of our current squad now.
