A big clash at Bramall lane where top of the league United face 3rd place Bolton. Sheffield United sit 5 points clear at the top but could only draw with 2nd place Scunthorpe last time out.

Whereas Bolton along with Fleetwood have a chance to take 2nd spot but Bolton will need an impressive result against the leaders.

Should be a good game.

Expecting a similar performance from Bolton as Scunthorpe gave us.

Defend in numbers, try to hit us on the break and lots of niggly fouls from such as that lowlife Madine.

Prediction - 3-1 to the Blades.

Bolton will be making a massive mistake if they judge us on their 2 wins earlier this season.

One win was the 1st match of the season where we had a new team that didn't know each other. Also we've bought half a new team since then. The other win was in the FA cup where we played a weak team and rested several players.

The results haven't been fantastic of late but we have dominated every match. It's now 20 consecutive league game where we've had more possession than the opposition. And we've had more shots, on and off target than the oppostion in 19 of our last 20 matches and more corners than the oppostion in 19 of our last 20 league matches.

Another interesting stat is after our poor start to the season Wilder went out and brought in 2 new centre backs, Ebanks-Landell and Jake Wright.

Wright has played 18 times for us this season and has yet to experience a defeat during his SU career. So if we play him at least we know we can't lose.

I expect Bolton to sit back and try to frustrate us with niggly play, start/ stop and plenty of free kicks hoping for a set piece goal. Madine being an ex Sheff Wed cult hero will get some right stick, so you can bet he'll score and then make some jesture to the Kop, then get booked. In fact Madine might get sent off.

Prediction Blades 3 Bolton 1
Attendance 27,711

Interesting that, as the four blades I know have alsao predicted a comfortable win for themselves, and I think you will find we are a bit more expansive than you think.

Blades 1-2 bolton. We like to do it the hard way so may as well get it started here, it would be pretty typical united. 2 teams pretty much as good as each other and our record is wank against the better sides in the division.

Scunny 2 draws
Bolton 1 loss
Fleetwood 1 draw 1 loss
Southend 1 win 1 loss
Bradford 1 draw
Millwall 1 loss
Rochdale 1 draw

A grand total of 1 win and 8 points from 30 against the 7 sides directly below us

Fleetwood are now fully involved in the auto promotion race. Our 2 nearest rivals all season in you and bolton and we've basically just completely dominated both games, that has to be a good sign for us.

Fleetwood won't catch you. It'll take an almighty fuck up for this race to even come close. It's mostly a slug fest between us, Fleetwood and Bolton for 2nd. Not very optimistic of our chances right now.

Hopefully for you this is your little bad run and you can kick on again. Personally I just want us to break clear before you do though. Fleetwood going up would be a cracking achievement as well.

You should piss the league now, I've seen all the top 4 at VP this season and Bolton away.

Out of the top 4 you are streets ahead of the rest. Fleetwood were ok, Bolton were solid without been anything special and Scunny were dreadful and dived and wasted time from minute 1. The only team this season that have come anywhere near your lot is Southend and their to far behind to catch you. Take the league, but can you let us win you please? That's all.

The blades are head and shoulders above all of us and it's a promotion 'dog fight' for second place, too close to call which makes for a tremendous finish and great advert for league 1

Blades 2 Bolton 0

Got to give credit to Bolton, they battled and tried to win midfield. Most teams just give it up as a bad job and sit deep defending in numbers on the edge of their box trying to frustrate us. So although we didn't attack and dominate as much as normal we had more space and always looked dangerous.

Thought Bolton looked better than Scunthorpe but they failed to create any chances, just 1 shot on target all match and was from long distance which the keeper easily saved.

Boltons main tactic seemed to be inviting fouls to win loads of free kicks hoping to score from a set piece.

We were definately the better side and 2-0 was a fair reflection but we were much better and more dominant last week against Scunthorpe. However Scunthorpe were more ruthless in front of goal.

It's looking good for SU to finally end our league 1 prison sentence.
Thank you Chris Wilder. We not only get results but play some really pleasing on the eye quick, one touch passing football.
Long may it continue.

You do know it was 0-0, right?

I know Bolton never troubled our keeper but at least they had a few attacks, has quite a lot of crosses into the box from free kicks. It was the most our defense has had to work for ages. Jake Wright was superb.

Where as Scunny hardly got in our half in the 1st half. As expected Scunthorpe had to improve 2nd half but still only had 2 chances.

In those 2 chances Scunny scored 1 and hit the post with the other.

The Scunny manager said his team deserved the draw but that was only based on the impressive battling and defending qualities when down to 10 men.

Well i reckon now that you Blades will be promoted now, and its well overdue, you deserve to be in the Championship, with your fan base your stadium and a decent board.
The rate you are going, you wont even entertain the notion of the play-offs, which is a bit of a jinx for you.
Fair play and best wishes

Chris Wilders post match comments were interesting regards the opposition managers in our last 2 matches. He said he was surprised and dissapointed by Phil Parkinson's and Graham Alexander's comments. SU were comfortably the better team in both matches and outclassed Scunthorpe in the 1st half. Wilder said "when I give my post match comments I'm honest and when we play a better side on the day I always give them credit".

Parkinson said it was a close match and blamed the penalty (which he said was a dive) for their defeat. But he failed to say that for all Boltons attack play they had no creativity and never looked like scoring. SU has more possession, more shots on and off target, more corners. We had many more chances and could have won by more.

Alexander said his team showed tremendous character and battling qualities when down to 10 men (agree with this but before this at 11 v 11 it was really one sided) and deserved the draw. He also mentioned that Scunthorpe could have won it when they hit the post but he fails the mention that our keeper hardly touched the ball and apart from the last 15 minutes our defence was stationed on the half way line with very little to do. When the match finished many Blades felt like we'd been robbed but that's how matches go sometimes.

Tbf every manager always sticks up for their club. None of them come out and admit to being outplayed all game. We were outplayed in a way by fleetwood they fully deserved to beat us. I don't know but I'm not sure wilder came out and said that afterwards he may of done so correct me if I'm wrong.

He's just a bitter Coventry fan with nothing better to do, he should go back to childish protests and neanderthal pitch invasions :fing:
