so like the NES Classic Nintendo are now doing a SNES version that comes out at the end of September.

Managed to get a preorder but no idea if I'll bother actually getting it. Just the options there to get it or not seeing as the NES Classic if you weren't lucky with a preorder you could only get from scalpers.

Instantly preordered it yesterday myself, after the farce that was the NES one. Was never bothered about that one, but the SNES was my childhood so absolutely have to get it!

I was going to scalp one or two (yeah yeah I know, I'm an arsehole) but at £70-£80 I can't take the risk of Nintendo fucking up again, even though they probably will.

I don't see the point of these tbh, albeit the nostalgia when you have emulators. I got them all NES, SNES, GB, GBA, Megadrive, N64, ps1, ps2, dreamcast and so on

Yup. Which is why my initial thought was to scalp one and make a profit out of it. Ah well. Always the N64 mini next year.

Not everyone wants to break the law.

Sure there's the virtual console with Nintendo too, but there's something special about playing it on a little SNES.

Isn't the emulation on these pretty shitty though, Jase? I was gonna buy one until a mate said they were pretty subpar.
Yep, it's awful, ghosting and shitty sound, I was just pointing out that it had been done.

Picked one up. Think I'm going to start with Secret of Mana first.

I looked at a strawberry pi but thought I rather take a snes mini

i decided in the end to get a pi games console, took a gamble as wasn't sure if it would end up good or terrible, but happy i went with it instead of trying for this SNES mini (which i did want but the stock situation is ridiculous) has about 800 megadrive games, 800 odd snes games, plus 30 ps1, 300 odd N64, then also Nintendo and master system games.

sound quality is great, picture quality is great and only 1 game failed to work so far (sadly home alone on megadrive)

well worth the £125 paid, although need a ps1 pad to get them played properly as you get SNES pads with it.

I got one for Christmas too, you can get ps3 wireless pads to work on them I think. N64 games are impossible to play with the SNES controller. Unfortunately Goldeneye is very chuggy on the emulator, but that is apparently due to a well known issue with the ROM :(
