Well, well, well.....another huge game in the battle for survival.

Contrasting form for both sides since Sheridan took over the reigns here again, with the last 5 games form guide looking ominous for Swindon:

Swindon: LLLLL
Latics: LWLWW

Think Swindon have only won once since the start of December - and that was away to Bolton!

Our record against Swindon is quite impressive too, especially at the CG, however I do not like these positive omens and would not be surprised if we slipped up here.

Ripley

Wilson - Clarke - Gerrard - Hunt

Green - Fane

McLaughlin - O' Neill - Taylor

Holloway
A win here would be huge - big enough for me to suggest that the bottom 3 as it stands would be pretty much down already, and would give us some much needed breathing space.

However.....

Swindon 1-1 Latics (280 'tics)

Williams still in charge will mean another defeat. It's hard to see how we can possibly win given the form of both sides and the fact we're being 'managed' by someone clearly not up to task.

1-2.

Don't take our form as a given we are good. We ain't. We just have a manager capable of managing a very poor set of players.

That will prove the difference id imagine.

We have an incapable manager unable to get the best out of an average set of players.

Think you're being a little over critical of us recently.

The manager isn't on the pitch keeping clean sheets or scoring the goals. Confidence is a big thing in football, and even though Shez's arrival has boosted things and he is clearly an upgrade on Robinson, the players deserve some credit too for performing much better than they have for the entirety of Robinson's reign.

We have the best keeper in the league.
We have a very experienced CB partnership, which we didn't have before Gerrard re-joined.
We have a young LB on loan in Hunt who's proved he's got some ability.
Even Green has looked better since Shez' arrival.
O'Neill looks to be a great signing.
McLaughlin is twice the player he was earlier in the season, probably because he's playing further forward and is now fully fit.
We now have Holloway.

There's plenty to be happy about these days, and its harsh to call us shit.

We won't win, we won't draw & we probably won't score.

Other than that, any result is possible

Long term gains.
We have the best keeper in the league.
Congratulations to Oldham on the being the 17th team in the division to lay claim to having the best goalie in the league.

Like the rest of them I doubt he'll have much to do against us.

I do agree they are performing much better under shez because he is allowing them the freedom to attack. The new signings have indeed made a big difference, but individually there is still not many players on our books I wouldn't describe as poor.

Loan players aside, there ain't many I would beg the club to keep in the summer. We have no front man, and a powder puff midfield. The defence in my opinion was doing OK with Burgess in there (left back aside) before gerrard came in.

Honestly I'd be looking to keep gerrard clarke holloway and mclaughlin plus I'd beg borrow and steal to keep Ripley. Oneill and hunt if it's possible but other than that we are very average at best.

We have players who can't handle being in the lead and go to pieces when we are losing according to our manager so 0-0 is the best we can hope for.

They're not too keen on equalising, either. Apart from all that, they're not too bad!

How is Hylton walking out on the game the other day going down with the supporters?

Mixed really although most seem to think his behaviour is unacceptable. For me, in his sub appearances he has looked stronger and sharper than in recent times and scored 4 in 45 minutes for the stiffs recently. Only to not be in the match squad behind a woefully unfit Obika and a hugely unbalanced midfield. I'm not surprised he is hacked off, clearly he went about it the wrong way but I can understand why he did what he did.

Cheers. Looking from the outside, it doesn't seem that a team spirit that is going to get you out of your poor run.

So many things wrong with us at the moment. Team spirit is but one of them!

I think we have to face facts its league 2 next season and the fun and frolics that that entails!

If we somehow manage to scramble a win against Oldham given our crapness and the fact Oldham tend to do well here, then we have 4 games immediately after which are also against struggling sides.

Problem with that is this team would struggle to win games in League 2 and maybe lower.

I know that we are going to end up bottom of the table, and we are playing one of our bogey sides at the C G , but heart is saying win , but the head is saying defeat, but I'm going to go for a win for the town by the odd goal.

I'm currently en route and have a bad feeling about today.
Safe journey.

Hope you're right. Someone has pointed out we've not beat you at home since 2010! Be pleasantly surprised if that changes today.

Didn't go but heard we were the better team without actually challenging you goal. That accurate?

Well, seeing as we had 23 shots, 7 on target and should have been out of sight at half time, I'd say no

Swindon better side first half.
We were better side second half.

In general a poor game. We got what we needed. Also a prime example of how stats can mislead ones view of a game.

My old man said he didn't know how we didn't win as you offered very little.

We didn't take our chances by the sounds of it, which is irritating, but at least we created some.

Battle of the best keepers in the league ends stalemate ;)

If I'm correct that was Ripleys 13th clean sheet. The record at oldham is 18 or 19. He's already stated he is going for it and I can see him doing it tbh. Has a club ever been relegated and broke such a record in the same season?
