Southend play like they did today for the rest of the season and they won't be troubling the top 6, dire performance in a dire game, draw would have been about right but in the final third Southend were abysmal

Not that it matters, but how would you judge it? Honours, fan base/average attendances, league status' over the years?

For what it's worth, I wouldn't consider Coventry to be one of the biggest in L1, or bigger than Bolton for that matter.

I don't think Bolton are a big club either, rather a decent sized club surrounded by a number of equally decent sized clubs such as Blackburn, and the obvious big clubs in Manchester.

Again, it matters not one bit. Back on topic, well done to Sheff Utd on gaining promotion. Hopefully that'll be us in the next 7-10 days.

Coventry are historically a bigger club than Bolton.

Coventry are historically a bigger club than Bolton.

It depends what you mean by historically.
If you assume the league started in 1970, then I'd agree that Cov are bigger than Bolton and would be the biggest club in league 1.

But if you agree that the league started back in 1890 then Bolton's early history is surprisingingly impressive (even better than Sheff Utd who also have an impressive early history)..

Think Bolton have spent 73 seasons in the top flight, more than double Coventrys 34 seasons. Also won many more honours.

Historically Bolton are the bigger club BUT I'd say Cov have more potential to be an established big club.

Congratulations blades. Back to face old foes Wednesday again next season.

When I lived in Edinburgh I went to 3 Sheffield Derby games with a Wednesdayite. Incredible atmosphere at Hillsborough!

Second only to the Edinburgh derbies for me.

Every chance they will go up tbf I obviously hope they don't but right now I'm not reyt arsed tbh as we've finally got out this league. 5 trips to the county ground was also more than enough for me.

I totally understand how you feel! Going to the CG recently is a real effort and I live relatively close!

Good news. Could make for a really interesting battle for the last playoff spot.

Can't see Bristol being involved. If we can manage the promo, wouldn't mind a bid for Wordsworth.

If Southend can continue their recent run of losses and we get within 2 points of Millwall before the last day we have have a real chance (we play Millwall at home last game). Don't think we will myself, but given our reputation for late runs, I wouldn't rule us out until mathematically impossible.

That's us out of it for good.

Extremely proud of the management and players. To have been still with a chance at this stage of the season is something I expect very little would have expected. We've come along way under DC and I can't wait to see what next season brings.

Our home form has been excellent and we've been harder to beat at home this season than last. Let down by our away form but even with that considered I feel we would have had enough in us to reach the playoffs had we kept Taylor. We had one of the worst defences in the league prior to the Sweeney and Lumley signings and since they joined we have one of the best.

Goodluck to those teams still in the mix.

Caught out going for it. I would rather lose trying to keep our hopes alive than settle for a draw. Great 1st season back in league 1. We need 3-4 strikers in summer and if we can maintain the likes on Lumley, Sweeney and Bodin, we have a real chance next season.

I'd say if Bristol got a couple of decent wingers and a proper centre forward they'll be a threat next year. Busy side without really showing much quality (not that they were bad, just workmanlike) and capable of sustaining decent pressure.

Good win for us, probably would have been a draw earlier in the season. Oxford were one of if not the best side we've played at home all season, they pressed high and looked good on the ball. But they only forced Doyle into one decent save which was their undoing I suppose.

Billy Bodin is a decent winger mate. It's just up front where we lack. Been that way since Taylor slithered off to city. Think we need 3, 4 or even 5 strikers and offload all of the current ones.

Definitely need a centre forward. Bodin decent out wide but a couple of the other options we have are inconsistent, guess that's wingers for you.

A lot probably rests on what happens with Lumley and Sweeney too, would like to see them back again next year in some form. Shame we couldn't keep up with Millwall and Southend today but it's been a good season regardless!

Fair enough, can't say I particularly noticed Bodin today so I can only call it as I see it. Really don't know how Moore keeps getting League One contracts though, he's out of his depth above League Two.

He's shit. He won't be here next season. He has started playing again recently which is confusing, as Montano is far better than him.

We might have won today but we were fucking shite. Alexanders tactics were embarrassingly negative, if it wasn't for one of Morris' delieveries bailing us out yet again we'd have drawn as we didn't create anything else.

Defensively we looked good but I suppose that's easy when your entire team is behind the ball. We'd have got mauled if we were playing a good team today and not MK Dons' second string.

I was a bit concerned after the Scunny game, but 3 solid wins on the spin have basically guaranteed us a playoff place. Hopefully we can secure 3rd and make a lot better go of it than last years debacle against Millwall.

Thought first half we were as bad as we've been, credit Oxford, when teams close us down quick (our defenders especially) we soon run out of ideas and they controlled the half despite no end product. Second half we improved but it was never vintage, Oxford seemed happy pumping thirty yarders into the away end thankfully.
Need to improve for the PO's but league wise it's all about points and today we won ugly which was a massive positive. Honourable mention to the referee and his standing ovation after he finally gave us a free kick halfway through the second half.

Boltons loss gives a glimmer of hope to the chasing pack, keeps the competition for automatic simmering a little longer.

Reasonably highly, think it very much depends who is alongside him too though. He's added a bit of defensive quality to his play, which was a problem we had in his first spell (and other fans had too)

Certainly think our midfield options are enough for a top 6 push next year, maybe one more in the summer if Mansell goes.

Don't worry Bolton fans, you'll beat our useless sack of shite by 3 or 4 (genuinely) and everything will be fine.
