So long, farewell, au revoir, auf wiedersehen...

Yes it's true. The Dull Davis reign of terror is over after many years of torture by watching the most stale brand of football on the planet.

My first home game since our awful 1-0 home loss to Yeovil in October so I'm looking forward to this one. Team will be: Garratt, Turton, Guthrie, Nugent, Bakayogo, Cooper, Jones, Bingham, Kiwomya, Dagnall, Lowe. I don't expect Daddy's little soldier to ever start another game for us and can see him being first out of the door.

Really think we'll give an increased home crowd a good showing and play out an entertaining 2-2 draw. None of this stale keep it tight, boring and try (and fail) to nick a game 1-0 crap, we'll do ourselves proud on Saturday.

Think we'll easily see over 5000 for this one, don't know how many Luton have sold but there'll be quite a few and a lot of walk-ups and returning ST holders coming back for this one now the dull one has been given his P45.

When was the last time there was genuine excitement for a game from Crewe fans? Must be 2013. Even the Vale games since have been viewed with despair.

I think we'll win. Purely because of new manager effect. Obvious at Mansfield the players were waiting for Davis to go. Artell will have them fired up, crowd will be backing them full pelt and when the likes of Cooper, Kiwomya and Lowe are fired up, I think we should actually be an ok football side.

So telling by the fact I think we're yet to see a single player thank Davis over 48 hours from his sacking, not a lot of people have touched upon that though yet. Local media having too much of a Davis reminiscent love in for them to care.

It's been like that for ages, players clearly didn't want him to stay and put in embarrassing performances but now the slate is wiped clean and they have tons to prove. Could even be a new signing before the game for all we know.

Dave has said the right things so far so I hope he, Kenny and the boys can get this team finally achieving its potential.

We need to win really. Feels weird saying that as despite being pretty poor for a while we are still fairly well placed but those around us have all our runs together and we show no signs of doing so. Pressure will start mounting if we don't start improving at the very least. Jones made some fairly scathing remarks after the Accrington game so be interesting to see how we react.

I don't think for a moment that Jones is in any danger but we have been on a downward trajectory for a while now and that has sort of reached a head now we have fallen out of the playoffs, we need to start turning that around.

Totally agree about feeling up for this match, I think the last time I felt like this was when we played Bradford last match of the season, we needed a win to stay up, we didn't win but managed to stay up and that is when SD should have gone, he could not motivate them for a match of that magnitude and the rest is history, but so is SD at last.

Odd game this one, you cannot expect miracles so Dave and Kenny need time, but we seriously need some points, cracking atmosphere, feels good factor and 2-0 to the Alex.

Feel we need a spark to reignite us. Midweek might provide it and that was against a team who'd just sacked their Manager so maybe? Or clutching at straws. Have no idea what to expect but hope we can pull out a win and try and consolidate a Play Off spot

Just got my ticket, said I wouldn't return until Davis was gone. People seem to be getting carried away with their excitement though, Artell has no experience and could well be just as bad.

1st time I've looked forward to a game in a long time. I've had free tickets to the last 3 home games and still not been whilst I'm paying to go this one. Tough first game for Artell though, Luton a very competent side with dangerous forwards.

Crewe 1-1 Luton (Cooper, Hylton) 4,860 (700 hatters)

Great win for Luton.

Best team in the league when playing with 10 men, that's for sure. Now up to six wins from six games when having a man sent off.

Absolutely disgusting and pathetic performance, but still don't know how Luton have won, they will be in this league for a very long time.

Good result that we really needed I think, didn't really matter how we played today just that we won and we did.

Good to see Marriott back in the goals, need to use this and get a run together.

Calm down bosox you were poor

Sorry, shouldn't enjoy coming from 1-0 down and then a man down to win away after a bad spell of results. Silly me.

No room for enjoyment in football.

Shut it you daft southerner

Only one person coming across daft here pal.

Really good result for us. We needed a win however it came. There was a worry the loss of McGeehan and Gilliead could have killed of our season so it's good to see us tough out an away win, especially when down to 10. Incidentally that is someting we need to cut right out.

Hopefully this will be the start of a resurgence.

Cracking result for us. Missed the start of both halves. Did we play a 442 variant. Weird line up otherwise with an all top heavy attacking midfield.

On paper looked like Jones copyrighted, completely unbalanced 442 diamond to me with Pelly as the holding player as in the Checkatrade.

Really need a proper holding player signed ASAP to make it work on a consistent basis IMO

1st half was decent from, 2nd half was poor, especially after Luton went down to 10.

George Ray was very good at centre back, won most of his battles, which is positive, lots of rumours that Harry Davis is off to Partick Thistle next week so looks like Guthrie and Ray will be the partnership.

Kirk just doesn't look quite ready to play to me, in a year or two I think he will be decent but he's not physically strong enough yet, Kiwomya didn't do nearly enough never tested the full back, same for Cooper apart from the last 10 minutes.

Overall not to disappointed, it's going to take abit of time and probably one or two fresh faces, I've got faith in Artell to get it right though.

Almost right Bosox. We lost last week at Accrington, when Rea was sent off, although given that it happened with about two seconds of added time left it didn't give us much time to score twice.
So it's six from seven, but interestingly, in the six wins, five times we scored while down to ten men. Now perhaps that is a tactic that Jones could try - couldn't be much worse than the sh1tty diamond.

It was an unbalanced midfield, yet again. Pelly sat, Cook, Gray and D'Ath wandered wherever they wanted. Result, massive gaps in midfield. Once Sheehan was sent off, we went 4-3-2, with a flat 3 in midfield which looked a hell of a lot better (in my opinion of course - other opinions are available)
I think that most teams going down to ten, while drawing, would have taken a forward off and played for the draw. We didn't, and even brought Vassell on for Marriott as an outlet for the last 15 or so. We created more with that shape than with the diamond.

Almost right Bosox. We lost last week at Accrington, when Rea was sent off

And that was in the Cup.

A perfect six out of six in the League, as I said.

Don't want to be negative but as we've won, and obviously wasn't there so was following from afar, but how does Cook keep getting a game in midfield?

Grays performances and goals recently make his almost continuous inclusion even more of a head scratcher to me.

Players looked more interested than they did under Davis but there's no revolution quite yet. The second half performance was about as convincing as McGarry's "Davis has a slight knock". Rofl, good one "Gra". There was just no quality at times, attacked more but with no real punch and defending was embarrassing for the goals. What Davis has done to Garratt is a travesty. Also have to highlight that DA stuck with Kirk, who was utterly woeful, for far too long. In the end, losing to 10 men at home shouldn't be happening.

Lots of challenges ahead for Artell. Defending, as usual, a big one and shipping out the bulk of that shambles will be a start. Up front we need a goal scorer. Dagnell should be it but I just don't see the point in him nor have I seen him do anything of any use this season.

Ho hum, a few months to see how damaging keeping Davis two years beyond his best before will be to this club.

You might need to remind me of who and when. Pelly's was also in the Cup at Exeter wasn 't it?

Spot on pal, espically about Ben, the lad is a quality keeper, but he has had that much rubbish to deal with in front of him the last few seasons that it's no shock flaws have crept into his game, Big Dave needs to take him out of the firing line and put a touch of pressure on Ben to to to get his game up.

Thought Luton were average at best up until the sending off, but fair play to them after that, they seemed to up it, they coud have settled for a draw but they went toe to toe and got the win, still think a draw would have been the fair result but that's football, I am still positive about Big Dave and King Kenny, just think they need time to mop up Davies mess, which the board allowed to happen, if Dave and Kenny keep us up that success for me, Davies and the board have dropped us that far in the brown stuff. C*nts.

Jack Marriott's first touch for his goal :hail: Now 6 goals and 4 assists in his last 7 games (actually in terms of minutes played it's more like 6 games). When he is in form he is the best striker in the league, fantastic to see him getting back to it after a very difficult start to the season. Some people writing him off on Outlaws makes me laugh, still only 22 years old. Still reckon he'll end up this season with more goals than Hylton (who is absolutely class - that assist for the second is pure quality).

Haven't seen either game so don't want to get too excited, but that's two games Pelly has played the role and two games he has had fairly rave reviews from those who were in attendance. He does have all the attributes for it, apart from one key one - concentration. The job is to get his mind right as he has the physical and technical attributes to play at a much higher level.

Drop Cook, play Gray as the #10 and Smudger in one of the middle roles for his work rate in the short term, sign someone better for the long term - it could work with Pelly there, but not with 3x pure attacking mids ahead of him.

Thought the Luton fans singing cheer up Graham Taylor was in pretty bad taste, I understand there is a rivalry, but the guy has just past away ffs.
