Finally a chance for Belotti and Pavoletti, they are the best italian strikers in this moment. Now we just have to evolve tactically and overcome the craze of 3-5-2, then we'll be able to find a new module that enhances our excellent wingers like Berardi, Insigne, Bernardeschi and El Shaarawy. Our strongest point, the defense, is getting older and older, so I think it's time to find a new module and to start a new cycle. A cycle in which I fear there will be no space for Pellè, because after his transfer to the Chinese League he will have little visibility, so this might be his last convocation.

We beat you (as we usually do when it doesn't matter) 3-1. Mandanda got a rare start in goal (and probably should have done better on Italy's goal), Matuidi was rubbish, Pogba not great, Giroud instrumental and Kurzawa excellent. I must say, Italy don't look like a particularly good side on paper and losing Conte is a big blow to them. I can't see them finishing in front of Spain in their group for the qualifiers so not having them in Russia won't be that much of a surprise to me. Italy can go from being good to being very bad.

Pogba not great? In my opinion he gave an impressive performance, I miss him already :(

Anyway, we don't have an excellent team, but we could easily qualify for WC2018 with Marchisio and Verratti 100% recovered, Belotti, Pavoletti, Berardi and possibly Bernardeschi in the starting line-up. Indeed I think that our greatest problem at the moment is that, with Buffon, Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini getting older, we don't have valid alternatives in defense.

Odd. Italy without alternatives in defense? :woot: Now I have seen it all and can die in peace ;).

I wouldn't read too much into the result of a friendly. If Italy can't make it as No.1 in the Group they'll qualify through the Playoffs of the 8 best No.2's of the groups (and I don't think that Italy will be the 9th best No.2 of the 9 Groups ;) )

No trust me, we don't have valid alternatives in that role. Astori, Acerbi, Ogbonna, Paletta, Ranocchia etc. are not good enough to be starters. Romagnoli and Rugani on the other hand are two excellent prospects, but they need much more experience.

Spain at Wembley tomorrow night, hope it's an interesting game but find it hard to get into friendlies. Not fussed about the result just want to see some more promising signs from us, Southgate will get the job after tomorrow no matter what the result.

How overrated is Kante?
"Busquets robbing the ball from Kante doing 180 heel flicks and setting Spain on the counter while Kante was chasing him asking for his autograph." :fl::fl:

Another goal for Harry "completely average" Kane, this time against a much lauded France.

Hoddle is painful isn't he? Really debating the Giroud offside with himself. Its blatant. MUG.

Still peed at our abject performance v Scotland on Saturday so cant be bothered to watch this meaningless friendly against very familiar opposition. Why do we keep playing the same bloody countries?

Because there are only half a dozen top class teams you can test yourself against in an away friendly without travelling half way around the world.

True but surely we can mix it up a bit better than waht we are doing. Why not invite a few more of the South American countries to Wembley for a friendly? Chile,Columbia,Argentina,?

Brilliant ball from Trippier, Sterling takes way too much time cos he has no bollocks.

Open game with pace on either team .

France look like scoring every time they attack.

Heaton a bit unlucky with the goals - good saves but the French reacted quicker.

Dont like red cards in friendlies. Not for things as soft as that, kind of limits what you can take from the game.
