Well Hemmings will be missed. Scored what goals we did score last season basically. Dennis isn't fit. I assume it means we've lined up some sort of target man which I am guessing will be a loan player.

I just hope Tyson is up to scoring the goals because right now I'm not sure where they will come from

Any fee mentioned? Was Hemmings the #game changer or the one Hardy was trying to wind Mansfield fans up with?

What’s happened to the weird Viking fella with two accounts, has he abandoned the rest of you? Probably for the best :D

Hemmings going is disappointing but I always expected him or Enzio to leave as a financial repercussion of relegation.

Hopefully the latter will definitely stay now, I know the Jon Stead Weekly Standing Ovation Club in the Pavis hate him (I can't qwhite put my finger on why) but he is clearly our most talented asset.

No fee, it was mutual so that it free's up a large chunk of wages that could potentially bring in 1 or 2 more players.

Fair enough, bet he had a lot of L2 attention too without a fee.

Dennis might be in contention for Saturday! If we can’t shift him then I guess we might as well use him, clearly goals in there somewhere.

Wouldn't be surprised to offload a couple more yet. Kellet, Tootle, Enzio and Dennis are probably all up for transfer if an offer comes in to pay their wages.
Not expecting us to sign anyone of Hemmings calibre but we really need that mobile- ish target man to get the best out of Enzio, Dennis and Tyson.

Problem we have is who is available? Wouldn't surprise me at all of we ended up with a loan. Target men are hard to come by. It's a shame we couldn't have gone after either Reuben Reid or Matt Rhead. Both would have been great at this level

They're both old now Youpies. We need a player who can run against a backline and hold it up game after game this season.
There's got to be someone out there who can do a job.

You stags fans were right about him, neither a target man or goal poacher or nuisance to defenders, got by on not missing one of the sitters now and then, he won't be missed.

You don't find many decent ones of them down here. It's one or the other. And if you do manage to find them, they're expensive (relative to the league) - Norwood, Doidge, Akinde.

You might do like Macclesfield did and get a few decent weeks out of a Nathan Blissett type (at Solihull).

Although I do think that’s fair criticism, he still managed to be pretty decent for us and managed to score around 14? but that should easily be doubled considering the chances.

I highly doubt he was under £4K p/w considering his reported Oxford wage and what we paid him during the loan, so it’s a significant amount of wages freed up.

Local paper reports its freed up 2k per week which was always a more realistic wage to be honest rather than the 4k per week

I think Hemmings is a victim of what I've said a few times that happens at Notts, particularly those who are branded as lazy. Unfortunately I think there is some sort of unconscious (or in some cases conscious) bias and dog whistling.

Probably an unpopular opinion but it seems to re-occur too often

Hemmings return last season in a struggling side when he was often injured is a good one. Yes he missed easy chances, but he's a lower league footballer for a reason. What do you expect?

No top L2 club (Budget wise) is paying the big strikers in their squad £2k p/w anymore mate, maybe five years ago.

We were allegedly paying £4k p/w in wages to Oxford when he went on loan here, Hemmings was in relative demand last summer too - Considering the market and the spree County had Hemmings would have never signed for you for that.

No one really knows though do they. It's all allegedly, supposedly, reports say, itk, rumour who's on what money. It's a pretty tiresome debate we always seem to get into on here

Regardless it's freed up wages for Notts to spend elsewhere. I'd rather it was Dennis we shifted as he's never convinced in the little time he has had. The fact he's always been on the treatment table tells its own story

Definitely, my point was disregarding your suggestion that the £2k figure was more realistic, that’s all.

Still no activity from the double account fella, I presume he’s bottled it. At least the rest of the County fans are alright.

We've just taken Virgil Gomis on loan, see he was with you boys last season.

Hit me with it, its easy to see why he's got that surname isn't it?

Yeah when we got him and saw the YT videos etc and based on what we had from F***** previously we were quite excited.

Quick but that's it, never scored for us and eventually ended up on the bench when he was brought in to start and score.

Sounds similar to our other forwards then. Could the the worst fight for club top scorer we've ever seen!

One of those players that the saying easier to score than miss will follow him throughout his career I think

After a nice summer break away from football and football forums, we are back.

New season, new league but nothing really changes we still have Conker talking like he's 'in the know' on all transfer fees paid, and what any and all Stags, Notts , Imps are definitely on

Nice to see you on a Notts thread in the Non League forum, no Adam, no Spanish Stag yet? I am surprised but glad ruin too many Notts related threads the past few seasons

It's Conker's favourite subject and speciality :shifty:

Not sure I'm looking forward to the televised game later today, we are at least a month behind all other clubs thanks to the former chairman's disgraceful antics over the summer. Reports I had back from Tuesday night said it showed but it's to be expected , will be a tough August until players settle in and learn to know each others games

Ardley is completely inept, noone is expecting free flowing football but I don't think a coherent formation and players vaguely standing in sensible positions is too much to ask.

Also if Dunn is better than Kellett, Patching and Crawford then all 3 of them might as well pack it in now. It's been a long time since I've seen a youth player look that far out of their depth.

Good to see BT paying attention to notts given their demotion to the conference, shame a few notts fans disappeared after this happened.

Good, and deserved win for Barnet, tasty looking relegation zone with both notts and chesterfield - ardley looked a bit clueless and notts might prosper by getting in a manager who knows how to manage non-league.

Been there done that won the title - you won’t do that with ardley in this league

I've a horrible feeling we're going to sack Ardley in the next couple of weeks and be no better for it. He's not helped himself today mind , by having no midfield option on the bench. Soon as O'Brien went off we lost all shape and coherence.
We still need a big no9 and are going to be toothless until we get one.
Positives, and there were a few, defence other than individual errors looked more up to the task than at any point last season and secondly, they are working hard.
I feel there's more chance of this lot clicking with a striker than I ever felt about last year's squad. Would like to see Crawford at least on the bench, Dunn had a tough day today.
We need a win sharpish, just to take the pressure off Ardley and to give them some confidence or else they'll implode and God knows where wells end up.

You should let him go, and nothing against ardley, we got Paul cox as manager from Ilkeston of all places who had a great track record with them and was un-fancied against league managers but he knew exactly what was needed and what he needed to take it.

Will probably sound bollocks now, but it’s only when you admit you’re non-league that rehabilitation can commence - the conference is absolute hell - it’s not a “league 3” at all - of course sides can go straight back up - but it’s rare.
