Hoping Brighton do the business tomorrow against Wednesday meaning we go to Villa Park knowing a win will take us 3 points outside the play offs!

Top two for me will be Newcastle and Brighton. But after watching them at Deepdale have to say Leeds are by far the best team I've seen this season and will be very very close to the top 2. Might even sneak in.

As for play offs. I think it will be Leeds, Derby, Wednesday and Fulham.

Big weekend this with Wednesday at Brighton, Reading playing Derby, and Leeds & Fulham both having tough away games at Barnsley and QPR. We really have to beat Ipswich at home... and the time is ticking for us to get the striker we need.

Cheers Brighton :)

All we have to do is do something no other team have done this season and win at Villa Park to put us 3 points behind the play offs :)

I think that's Brighton looking like a shoe in with Newcastle now, they've been building it for years and finally they've got all the pieces together and they always find a way to win. As for us as long as we can keep ourselves in the top 6 I'll fancy us to beat any of the current teams in the play offs.

That defeat at Brighton couples with results has let a couple of clubs in to the play off contention and the results in midweek has made a gap between us in sixth and the others.

You've got a very very good chance to cement a top 6 spot with your next 6 games. You should really win them all.

Your joking, we haven't won 6 games in a row since the "mind the gap" season. Not even sure we did then.

You won 12 and drew 2 of the last 14 if my memory serves me right. So likely you did. You should win your next 6 on paper but obviously football doesn't work like that.

Again we play fairly average but get over the line with 3 points.

Back up to third and on 52 points. We only manged 52 points in the whole of last season, and 50 the season before. What a fantastic season this has been, whatever happens.

Teams have closed the gap on us outside the play offs today but we have a game on them all, sadly it looks like Norwich are picking up again, can't see Barnsley keeping it up now their squad is being cherry picked and possibly the manager, although Mowatt and James were two good signings. Our next 6 games as stated are very winnable and I would hope for about 12 points which should keep us well inside the top 6. Just hoping one of the teams above us falls away a bit but there is no sign of it yet.

It seems a bit more open now. Anyone down to Fulham has a serious chance. Norwich are starting to hit their stride and will surely fancy their chances. So 3rd-10th and forget the rest. For me I'll be glad to see Newcastle and Brighton go up and probably Leeds because it will make our life a bit easier next season. If Leeds fail this season monk will have them firing again next season so although I'd prefer a few other clubs over Leeds to go up I think it will be better for us if they did. Such a tight league but I prefer it over the prem.

Drawing at home to the likes of Wolves, Burton and Ipswich is the reason we won't be in the mix.

I've just had a quick look at our fixtures and we've got some reasonable home games left, where our form has been excellent under McClaren: Bristol, Cardiff, Burton, Barnsley, QPR & Wolves all left to play.

Away from home, we've got three of the current top six left to play: Brighton, Newcastle & Wednesday. However, we've got three of the bottom six left to play: Forest, Rotherham and Blackburn.

I think, ultimately, it will come down to how we do against the likes of Ipswich, Birmingham & Brentford away from home. If we can keep our home form up, 21/27 points, and keep a reasonable away record, 15/30 points, then it should see us into the top six - 79 points.

I really don't think much will come from us being in the top six, other than a plucky semi-final defeat, but I do think we should get there.

Interesting fixture list for us, we've already played all the top 6 away plus Norwich, Fulham, Villa and Preston, with just Derby and Barnsley still to play away, both of whom we've already beaten at home.

At home meanwhile we still have all the top 6 apart from Wednesday to play! As well as those other 4 teams I mentioned.
We've had very good home form so far this season, think it's 8 wins 2 draws 2 losses. Hard to predict but it's certainly in our own hands and I'd rather have all these teams to play at our place. If we carry on our form we'll end up with 84 points so despite improving on and off the pitch recently, we can probaby afford a slighty poorer 2nd half of the season.

We'll know a lot more in a weeks time. Brighton and Leeds at home coming up this week...

Good win for us last night which keeps us ticking over nicely.

Grabban and Kermogant were lethal at Bournemouth when they got promoted, will be interesting to see whether they flourish for us.

Any chance of reading or Leeds catching Newcastle? Doubtful but you never know. Leeds and reading will definitely get play offs. I've got a feeling Wednesday are going to miss out this year.

Big win for us, that. Not at our best but good character to respond to a set back and pinch a winner. Takes a bit of heat out of the Huddersfield game. Get a result there, and then two home games against Cardiff/Bristol City would hopefully see us in a lovely position - clear of 7th and within touching distance of the top two.

Tomorrow begins a real tough run of 10 games for us that will decide whether or not we will make the playoffs. Almost all of the teams around us to play as well as some tricky games against mid table sides. And to make matters worse we will be playing them with the manager of the month curse.

This shit is getting real :animatedf:

The big challenge for us begins now, we tend to rotate when we have a few games in a short space of time, but when I say rotate I'm talking like 7 or 8 changes. It's worked for us so far at Burton and Wigan. We're playing Saturday-Tuesday until mid March now... still finding all this hard to believe!

Norwich look the biggest threat to the top 6 now, but have a tough fixture list.
Leeds fucking it up?

I'm pretty calm tbh. Lots losing their shit about how we've fucked it up.

First time this season we've lost two on the spin and we're still in a more than adequate position. Anyone else wins when playing poorly and it's "the sign of a good team" yet us winning narrowly away at Blackburn constitutes part of a bad run according to a lot of people.

I am concerned about our squad depth though. Jansson has a 3 match ban around the corner, and Ayling/Bartley close to 2 match bans. Combine that with Taylor's injury and that's our entire first-choice back 4. Another poor January for us.

Everyone losing their shit too about Derby (who have gained a mighty 1 point on us since we beat them a month ago) and Norwich, who whilst a danger, have won once away since October 1. You'd think we were the only team who didn't win every game if you read a lot of posts on WACCOE.

Norwich and Derby are the only contenders to take one of the playoff spots in my opinion, but the current top six are still looking strong. Based on form, I'd say Reading and Leeds look more vulnerable than Huddersfield and Wednesday, but they've still got 7/4 points cushion so need to worry yet.

Yeah it's only Derby or Norwich that can make the play offs. Huddersfield look class at the moment and I hope they continue their form. I've got a feeling Leeds are going to fuck up in the play offs. Sheffield Wednesday v Huddersfield final.

it will be the nervous fans that are saying you have fucked it up. Great opportunity for you this season which kind of came out of nowhere although I said at the start I thought you would do well.
