Away win. I have only managed two home games this season so far (many, many reasons) and both were defeats (Orient and Cheltenham): I am going to our next two games, this one and next Saturdays home match against Notts County, so expect the unexpected. Exeter have a very good away record this season and we have struggled at home to produce any decent attacking football on a regular basis. Hopefully we can reverse both stats and beat Exeter: who knows?

Both of us in good form so hard to call. However I'm always confident that we will win on the road so fancy a result here. Of course, we will have to be wary of your pacy attack and hope that Bogle doesn't turn up.

Think our only absentee is Lee Holmes who is a big miss but Liam McAlinden has done very well on the left lately. Plus Ollie Watkins and David Wheeler are on fire at the moment so confident of scoring a couple.

Any possibility of the match being in doubt due to snow/ ice? Really don't want another week without a game.

3-1 City. Watkins, Wheeler, Reid (penalty). Davies for Grimsby and 194 travelling Grecians.

Home win.

Our away form has to take a dip at some point.

Also think our away form is due to dip eventually.

2-1 Grimsby.

Wheeler with our goal.

Grimsby are a bizarre bunch.

Win at Plymouth and Carlisle yet lose to Exeter.

League 2 is a bizarre beast this season

Really happy with the win and to keep the run going. Pleased to see Reuben get back amongst the goals & great to get another clean sheet.

I can see why Exeter have such a good away record after that, they hit you on the break in super quick time and I thought we were gonna survive until half time but then poor defending from a corner and Reuben Reid celebrated by sticking the ball up his top after getting a few 'you fat bastard chants' from the Ponny, and then nearly ran into the post behind the goal which I thought was quite funny!
Second half talk about goals changing games, we actually came out all guns blazing for 10 mins and looked like we were gonna really pile on the pressure then a suicidal pass and I thought it was Reid again who scored but just seen it was Wheeler apparently.
After that we were clueless and Exeter were like a pack of Wolves just toying with their prey waiting to pounce and thankfully for us they only decided to pounce once again, terrific goal as well the lad had us chasing shadows before firing in.
The best side I have seen us play this season by a country mile (not saying they are the best just the best I have seen) and also their fans were on it from the off, never shut up and bouncing around all game having a right laugh, just what an away day should be like so well done to them and I'm sure their drives home will feel sweet.
For us we hopefully write this one off and start again, any scouts watching Bogle today will not have been impressed as he got frustrated a lot and then the rest of the time he didn't look arsed.
One last thing -- Reuben Reid -- he has an arse like Kim Kardashian ffs!

Thanks for the summary. That's the impression I got from the commentary. Grimsby had a lot of the possession and on another day could've gotten in front and it's a totally different game.

Sounds like Moore-Taylor kept Bogle very quiet which was key and as soon as it went to 2-0, and Grimsby went all out attack, it suited us down to the ground with our pacy counter attack.

Watkins is in fine form and he won't be here much longer...can't wait to see his goal later. A real talent.

Also Reid is a big fucker but it's no coincidence that our form has been far better since he arrived. He may have only scored 5 goals but he's been instrumental in freeing space for Watkins, Wheeler and Holmes. A great player for this level.

Anyway another great win, long may it continue. Unlucky Grimsby, I'm sure you will be there or there abouts in May.

This might be an unpopular view this side of the Devon Expressway, but I am glad that you have turned it around and are doing well.

Blimey, that's refreshing.

However, I hope Argyle get relegated three seasons running and never come back!

Well as Bignot said post match the players we have have got us this far but we need more additions (better quality) to take us further.

So mid table side we will stay for a while, win some, lose some.

That's the worst I've seen from us all season by an absolute mile but echo the sentiment re Exeter, very rapid on the counter and it tore us apart.

Only positive for us was Gavin Gunning who I thought was excellent and I'm very excited to see him play more. Big and surprisingly quick centre back who looks like he loves to get it down and play while also being able to ping a great ball forward. That's what I got from a 45 minute performance anyway. Easy to see I guess when everyone else around him were dreadful.

As you will have guessed I am not from around these parts, and I want all Devion sides to do well. Interestingly my kids who were born here don't agree with me! I guess if we get relegated Torquay will have to take over as best team in Devon:2thumb:

Well Bignot keeps mentioning technical abilty or lack of it, so maybe if Gunning has it and he gets more players that do we might push on a bit.

Gunning made a very lazy attempt to tackle Watkins before his goal fwiw.

We've performed worse this season. Exeter, especially their front three, were excellent. Both teams tried to pass and pressure but Exeter were just better than us at it. Formation didn't help but too many players had a bad game, such as Disley, Bogle and Davies. Reliable Danny Collins was shocking too.

I don't think it's a coincedence we don't perform at home under two consecutive managers. Atmosphere is fucking atrocious. Credit to the Exeter fans.

Think we need two midfielders and a striker to replace Jackson/Vernon. We haven't got good enough personnel atm.

Also, I see a lot of our fans getting annoyed at Bignot's post match comments. Boo hoo.

Exeter were quicker and slicker than us in both thought and feet, we looked sluggish compared to them. They're moved the ball forward very swiftly while we passed it backwards and sideways usually under pressure. We had plenty of possession but never really looked like scoring. Plan B was worse than plan A. Well played Exeter, very impressive performance.

I know Exeter have picked up some results at home but why do they seem to do so much better on the road?

Just down to the way they are set up?

I think so yeah, they looked to hit us on the break and did it excellently time after time, whereas I'm guessing that at home they couldn't really play like that as the impetus would be on them more to attack.
Once it got to 2 - 0 yesterday they looked like scoring every time they attacked.

Will you be able to keep him and Wheeler this transfer opening? I assume clubs are sniffing around both?
I suspect both will stay in this window but both will move on in the Summer. Wheeler we know is out of contract and the end of the season so will leave on a free. It would take a good offer to take Watkins from us this window.

I think we've got a great front 4 for this level (Wheeler, Holmes, Watkins & Reid) so it's annoying to think it could be split up in the not too distant future but it's just part and parcel.

That Watkins goal is indeed quality.

It's shocking defending. Gunning just stood there and let him run past him, and I think Henderson could have done better with his effort at a save too.
