The writers are promising a big pay-off later in the season, so I'm hoping the war kicks off sooner rather than later.

Barely anything has happened since we met Negan. I reckon you could summarise the important plot developments since Lucille in two or three bullet points.

The writing is so poor. I hate those tiresome conversations they have where they're just reiterating what we already know. We don't need a ten lengthy dialogues scenes to tell us that your characters are sad. We saw what Negan did.

If you looked closely at the script you would think an adolescent girl had written it. It might work with an American audience, but not us Brits.

I gotta be honest, the people chucking the word 'filler' around is triggering me intensely.

There hasn't been one episode so far this season that would classify it as 'filler', a 'filler' episode is one that has zero relevance to the overall progression of the plot, what we're seeing is building up to something down the line, it is essential to have these episodes.

Call episodes dull, lacking imagination, not to your taste, boring, shit, whatever, but filler they are not.

A lot of commentators thought the whole Negan thing would last into a second season but given that they seem to skip over content really quickly as we've said about just about any enemy since the governor, they might well get it all done with this season. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. I don't read the comics but Negan seems to be heralded as the baddest of the bad, but frankly he's run out of characters to kill that'd make you give a shit really. Unless he kills a kid. That might work.

I think there might be a point that Negan doesn't translate well from comic to TV screen. His wives and his superiority over his clan probably work better in the comics as there's more of an understanding that what you read in a comic isn't supposed to be realistic. When we see it on TV we just think it's ridiculous as we can't understand how opposition hasn't emerged.

I don't think Negan is that annoying though. His personality definitely adds something to the show for me.

You definitely have a point with the realism and what I've found ridiculous from the first episode of this series is why is Negan still alive? I've never been put in a situation before, but I imagine if you watch a lone man mash together two friends with a baseball bat, you aren't going to wait to hear what he says when you've got a gun.

First episode: Rick goes camping with Negan. Doesn't kill him.
Whatever episode, plus previous: Negan strolls up into camp and before you can fire a gun, he'll happily take them from you.
Previous episode: Carl has a gun pointed at Negan, but it's just for show after shooting up two Saviours.

The only difference between this group and the previous Negan group that Team Rick took care of is Negan. :pond:

But yeah, talking of realism, where is Tiger man?

I suppose what we see of the Saviours isn't what the group sees. We know he treats them like shit and they wouldn't die to avenge him, but they don't know that. They have no reason to assume that cutting the head off the snake would work. From their perspective, you kill Negan and you and everyone else you care about dies.

Negan is turning out to be a shit character. It's a shame coz he had a great (if disturbing) entrance and Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a badass, but he's shit and unbelievable. I mostly find it difficult to pick spots off a tv show that requires such a level of suspension of disbelief but this one just don't sit right with me. Here we have a tyrant surrounded by misfits and brigands and he treats them all (that we've seen) like shit. I'm not wondering why our group hasn't done him in nearly as much as wondering why his own group hasn't.

aye, he, along with his current plot armour, is a bit pish imo. coral: "i'm going to kill negan" *hops in a van directly to negan, kills 2 of his men in front of him and has an assault rifle pointed directly at negan* coral: "on second thoughts..."

they will turn on him sooner or later. showing him acting the c*** with his group in various messed up situations (humiliating people, melting peoples faces, shagging everyones wife) is an obvious lead up to them turning on him i reckon, the not so subtle hints of dissent within his group are already there, dwight being the obvious ring leader to stage a coup. same with showing spencer being a whiny girl at alexandria, he's bound to snuff it this season. whether it's rick or someone else that does the honours. my prediction is some of the saviours (the low level members, dwight and whoever he's close with) will have had enough of negan's bullshit by seasons end, they'll seek help from ricks group, who'll seek additional help from hilltop and lion mans crew (once he knows that place exists) then we'll have another long wait til next season to see what actually happens ala the lucille scene.

riveting stuff.

I don't see a coup happening. The introduction of all these smaller communities is surely to build up to all out war. If that's not the case and we have Negan overthrown that leaves way too many people alive in the aftermath.

I don't know how the show is going to recover from this shitness it has got itself into because the damage is too much.

nah, imo all out war doesn't make sense given the rest of the communities are relatively peaceful people. but they do share a goal. these communities all have one thing in common and that's negan stealing their shit and killing their people (or in the case of the fish wives, killing all their men). with maggies new found influence at hilltop, and the fact that negan brutally murdered her fella, she'll want revenge. the circus people are sending the saviours pigs that have been feeding on the dead so you know they have beef with negan. the saviours have a psychopathic, abusive leader, dwight seems to have had enough and daryll is on the inside now. it's all building up to negans eventual demise imo.

I already know (I think) what's going to happen but be careful out in the wild, there's mid season finale spoilers circulating.

Why flesh out and develop Dwight if he's not going to be a part of this?

The bullet going into Lucille is the most embarrassingly stupid shit this show has ever done.

It's clear that the people running the show are responsible for it's big drop in standards this season, the story and acting is not the problem, it is the way it is constructed and directed.

That ending was so cheesy and summed up how shit it has been overall.

Well that was crap. The writing is so poor. You can tell who is going to die immediately because the writers pull out cheap tricks to get you to like the characters.

Who didn't know as soon as Spencer spoke to Negan that he was going to die? Why bother setting him up on a date otherwise? The only surprising bit for me was that I thought Spencer was already dead, he is that much of a pointless character.

How convenient that Angela or whatever she's called was shot after feeding Negan food and attempting to protect Judith. Also another pointless character. But again, why would Negan's henchman shoot her from across the street when there were about twenty Alexandrians stood around her?

I feel that Negan could be a fantastic character, but the writers just don't have the flair or the ability to use him.

I have always found the writing of the Walking Dead to be mediocre at best, but right now this is bloody appalling.

I'd say that the writing has always been inconsistent since the 3rd series, but this latest series has been the worst by far. It's a shame because the show has always looked like it's had the potential to be great.

Probably would of been better on a different network like HBO or something.

yeah, it's horribly paced and horribly written.

they always try to subtly hint at something happening but make it really fucking obvious. like spencers death, could see it coming a mile away. a character that's had fuck all screen time is suddenly thrust in front of the camera and is showing his displeasure with the way the group is run, and we're supposed to care BECAUSE REASONS. ofc he's going to die within an hour or two.

something people (a least people i talk to) seem to have missed is the guy that daryll smashed up with the metal pole was in charge of diverting a large horde of zombies with controlled explosions, and the guy who was supposed to be helping him do it was the one who got his face melted by negan for skipping the helping him part, so i guess that "threat" will have some part to play in the future.

was that the last episode before the break then? another long wait before another 8 tedious episodes before we get the attack on the saviours cliff hanger ending to the season. yay.

Nah I think the show will probably be cancelled by then.

If there is anyone here who is getting tired of the tv show then I suggest you read the comics if you havnt already as they are 100 times better than the Tv show.

I literally just finished watching it, yet it was so forgettable that I still feel like I'm waiting for the show to come back after the break.

Hilltop: No.

Kingdom: No.

Really? We're going down that route? For fucks sake. AS IF they aren't going to change their minds. Hilltop will be taken out of (that fucking dude who's name completely escapes me right now, you know, the owner)'s hands and he'll be over ruled, and Ezekiel will change his mind. This is obvious. So why in the fuckest of fucks is the show dicking around like this? Stalling for the sake of stalling. Just get the fuck on with it.

This being said, points earned for steel wire cutting through zombie hoard.

Yeah the steel wire part was all cool and that, but the walkers have lost their bite haven't they. I get the focus has shifted more to the dangers of fellow man, but they didn't have to diminish that of the the walkers so much in the process.

Most of this season bar a couple episodes have been pretty crap too imo. Dragging, milking - more fillers than the Kardashians ( :gmc: ).

This show is utter shite now, shit acting, poor directing, lazy writing, cheap budget.

It's just all so crap compared to what it used to be and that new group showing up at the end, who the hell are they? The Goth Community? I thought it was supposed to be the apocalypse and all of a sudden there are now all these new big groups of random people showing up who are even more absurd than the last.

The TV show has lost its way big time, I can see it ending pretty soon.
