Can see this being a tight affair. Think it'll go 1 - 1, though hopefully we could nick it.

We used to have it so easy against Tottenham for quite a few years but after last year's drubbing can't say I'm confident. I'd bite your hand off for a draw.

I like our new defensive resolve ,I think we will snatch this 0-1 with a deft header from one of our Dutch contingent in the closing minutes ,or Salah on his return to form could give the Spudz CB's twisted blood ,thus inspiring a pyramid to be constructed in the middle of Stanley Park as testament to the diminutive Egyptians prowess in front of the old onion bag.

Mate he doesn't even MENTION Lucas Leiva

:bg1:

The fella's just spent a fortnight drafting that post ,he's probably too spent to mention the legend that is Lucas Pezzzini Leiva ,but the guy knows his onions so I'm expecting an epiphany of sorts to take hold after a brief period of convalescence.

Both games were a bit unusual between these two last season, in that Spurs got something home and away! Defensive errors gave Tottenham a handsome, and slightly flattering win at Wembley, and we absolutely snatched a draw at the death at Anfield, a reverse of the normal trend. I forecast this elsewhere as a 1-1 draw, I think I'd be happy with that, but it could be anything. Big test for both teams, I'm a nervous as a turkey in mid December as usual, prior to a game with a top club. It would be a great tonic to relieve the pain of the Watford defeat if we could nick this one. Just hope Sonny and Kane have their shooting boots on!

Thank you mate it is indeed a pleasure to see two of the moral superpowers of football face off in a little bit of football.

0-1....Liverpool thanks to 'goal line technology'.

What do you mean?
because it was so close in real time there is some form of communication system that alerts the ref if it's a goal. If you watch a replay closely you can see Oliver (ref ?) pointing to a watch for the benefit of Spurs players indicating the technology confirmed the ball had crossed the line.

'Goal-line technology'... if that is, indeed, its real name...

If it wasn’t for goal line technology it wouldn’t have crossed the line imo

0-2 Liverpool. No goal line technology required for that one.

Wonderful win and a tough one to get in normal circumstances, but Tottenham were dire today. Their goal came from their only chance in the whole match, and even then it took a good finish to score from there. But too little too late.

We look fantastic but it's increasingly obvious that some of our defensive stability comes from sacrificing some of our attacking threat. But given we won fuck all last season and have started with five from five this season, you have to say it's paying off so far.

Fluke. Spurs should've had a penalty at the end.

Was a game of few chances, but Moura had an excellent chance to make it 1-1 just before your second. Didn’t think Liverpool played that well but they dug in and had a bit of luck for both goals. Winning without well, especially away at top 4 challengers, is what champions do and I think it’s Liverpool’s to lose this year.

You're right, I forgot about that one. But we did squander a good few chances ourselves and Firmino's goal was harshly chalked off for offside. Either way, away at Tottenham you'll take a win any way you get them.

Disappointed of course, but I never thought a similar performance to last season was on the cards. If the truth be told Liverpool could have won by a larger margin, the score doesn't tell the tale of the game.
What is worrying for me is that players like Kane, Eriksen, and Dier (who had a terrible game) looked "leggy", with CL ties to contend with this may be a long old season. We had decent possession and for periods in the game looked like we might take control...but we didn't create any chances. So fair play, Liverpool deserved the W, they were far more dangerous going forward than Tottenham, they have a great front line. They also looked very solid and settled at the back.
Back to the drawing board for Spurs, I'd like to see Poch target the league cup or FA cup this season. It would just be nice to baptise the new stadium (if it gets finished this season) with a trophy....
