I never quite understood the 'Schneiderlin never got a fair chance' camp. He's been either distinctly average or a non entity in games. His attacking game is poor and he hides away from taking responsibility when it comes to dismantling parked buses.

Saying that I wish him well and have little doubt that he'll perform in a team of his level. I feel he best suits playing as a ball winning destroyer CM, with someone playing behind him, and a creative player beside him to get counter attacks going.

Wanyama's anything but creative. Schneiderlin's far better technically, but I guess to be a United midfielder you have to have a bit more to your game, as admittedly Schneiderlin's never been that great going forward.

I imagine he'll work well with Gueye in the centre.

Payet done nothing wrong imo. In fact, he put West Ham on the map. Karma came to bite West ham on the ass.
He put West Ham on the map?? He was virtually unknown outside of France before he was picked up for £10 mil from a struggling Marseille side, he was even out of favour with the French national side manager due to his problematic attitude, so it really is the other way round, West Ham put Payet on the map.

As for the "unethical" way in which the club acquired the Olympic stadium, you are aware, I assume, that the club initially tried to buy the stadium outright before being awarded the tenancy, the offer to buy was contested by Tottenham and Leyton Orient....the rest is history.

Realistically, he'd have to cost at least 40m in this market.

The word (and by "word", I mean Philippe Auclair) is that its all a reputation exercise by Marseille. Their American owner is never going to sanction the funds needed for a 29 year old. They need to present themselves as one of the big boys and what better way than supposedly going in for a French ex-Marseille player who had a great World Cup?

The flip side of this is to question how this suits Payet. I can't see us or Arsenal buying a 29 year old. West Ham wouldn't sell to Spurs. City don't need him and even Utd surely aren't insane enough to drop that kind of dollar on a player his age? An ex-Marseille player wouldn't play for PSG (I'm reliably informed by a French colleague) and Spain won't spend that much on a 29 year old either.

One last big contract in China?

You are probably right, he'll want one last big (financially speaking) move and there aren't many feasible options besides a USA/China type of transfer.

IMO he still has 2/3 years left in him to play at top flight. After that he can still get decent move to MLS/China. He is still earning decent money at West Ham so I don't think he is after money atm. But only he knows.

He certainly has the ability to do that, yeah - but Shane was right to say that there aren't many bigger teams that have a need for him right now, or that would be willing to pay the price that he'd be up for.

29 years old, bad attitude and an insanely high asking price all things considered - even in today's market.

Fair enough he may want to use what limited time he has to try achieve stuff, but it still doesn't look like he's thought this through properly. Unless his agent has been whoring his services out in the background and has deals in the works. Which ofcourse is entirely possible.

Do you think what's "happening" in China is how smaller nations (in terms of standard of league) have long since viewed the Premier League?

Possibly, and it's hilarious to watch it happen to Chelsea. Were laughing when they were able to send away their squad players for crazy fees, and now fuming that they're now coming back for their big guns. Karma n all.

Well, at least Chelsea might not run away with the league now.

I thought Conte was handling Costa fantastically, prior to this. His form has been excellent and even his general cuntiness seems to have been toned down, he seemed much happier and more productive. That's been blown out of the water now though, if this is true.

Batshuayi will be happy, at least.

Can't believe a premier league side has bought Schlupp off of us. He's shit. His only half decent position is wingback, and the only time he's played that this season he was the worst player on the pitch.
Makes you wonder about the scoring systems these clubs have. Hes quick and strong. They're his good points. His control just below average, his crossing is hit n hope and his defensive positioning is piss poor. I look forward to seeing him score his first hat trick against us.
Now who wants Ulloa?
