We should look at £60m at the least for Van Dijk with those prices.
Could someone find one of the countless posts in this thread explaining how it doesn't work like that?

You won't get £60M for him and if you do you'll have got an overprice. He will want to leave within 12 months almost guaranteed and every club knows it, including yourselves. That will affect the price a lot. £40M and you will have done well for yourselves, especially since he still has a lot to learn to become a top class centre back imo.

If we get less for Van Dijk than Everton got for John Stones (Who also wanted to leave), it's a bad deal.

It depends who's interested, there are so many factors beyond the player's quality that the comparison is moot. Like how many are interested, who are these clubs and what are their financial possibilities? Will they offer the same amount and let the player decide, or will one club try to outbid the others?

Also, I'm not entirely convinced van Dijk is a better defender than John Stones, as in put VVD in Stones' shoes and I doubt he'd look much better. He certainly has the potential to be, but I reckon whichever big club ends up signing VVD will have to live with quite a learning curve defensively. I think VVD's aerial capabilities (I'm genuinely unsure if I've ever seen him lose an aerial duel) make him look slightly better than he is, because with the ball at the deck he still makes mistakes. His marking is at times kind of iffy and he can be reckless. Just like with John Stones, these things will show a lot more at a bigger club when the expected success ratio in tackles and 1v1's is significantly higher than at Southampton (no disrespect intended of course).

I said you will have done well for yourselves if you get £40M but that's mostly a gut feel regarding what I'd be ok with us paying for the player, and the teams seemingly interested. But if you end up with City competing with Real and United, yeah, you should be looking at £60M.

VVD is also older than Stones and there is an English mark up price. Has a bit of an injury history too, doesn't he? I would be surprised if Southampton got more than City paid for Stones, though I do think he's a better player. I hope United go after him.

Nah, think VvD started every one of our Premier League matches since signing in 2015 before Vardy crocked him in January.

Apparently Monaco turned down a €85m for Mbappe from United. They want €120-140m.

We also want Fabinho.

Apparently.

Is there any truth to the Diego Costa to China (again) rumour? £90m, signed a pre-contract if what I keep reading isn't nonsense.

Speculation says Josh King to Spurs and Jermain Defoe to Bournemouth. The silly season is underway for us.

Puel says VvD is staying next season.

Big claim for him to make given the amount of fans who have the pitch forks out.

Puel can't say with any certainty that's going to happen since he himself will probably be shown the door as well.

We won't sack him.
Most of your fans are moaning about him aren't they? Southampton don't tend to have managers around for too long anyway, so why don't you think it'll happen?

Fans are very very split on him and the reason why I don't think it will happen is because I think we will get enough points in the remaining games to finish in the top half.

Well they cant sell him ifhe wants to see out his current contract.

I'd be ok with him to replace Okazaki. Though I'd rather Gylfi if Swansea go down if it were possible.

A Colombian radio station (RCN Radio) reckon we've signed a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid for James Rodríguez.

He gets Rooney's number ten shirt but in a slightly smaller size.

Just doesn't strike me as a Mourinho player tbh.

He was linked with Liverpool the last few weeks too and though they'd never be in the market for him anyway, he wouldn't suit them either. Maybe only Arsenal and City he'd fit at?

We were gonna sign him last summer. Looks a good player but again he's a player that plays in a position you've already got covered by two Brazilians.
