Hugill actually looks alright on TV when I've seen him. Not the sort of striker I'd want us to sign but for a big fucker up front who is a nightmare to defend against, he seems pretty good in that role.

He's shit. He runs a lot and that's about it. I'd have driven him there for a million, baffling that we've turned down £1.5.

Fair point. I prefer Mak as a target man though and think we could get better than Hugill for £1.5million.

Hugill is our best option when we play one up top though, which we do regularly, Makienok is good but can be too static at times, more suited to a front two.

Plus £1.5m is pretty much fuck all now, wouldn't want to sell our top scorer and spunk it on an unproven player like Bogle or Wyke.

Plus what is Port Vale's sell on fee? if it's 30% then were down to just over £1m.

1.5 million is stupid money but the market's stupid especially for striker's so I would have rejected it aswell. Not sure what kind of bid we would accept but will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I know the style of play has changed but I think were a better team with Hugill in it than we was with Garner last season.

Can't argue with that I suppose. Just goes to show how fucking mental the market is when we're getting bids that equal the most we've ever paid for a player with such limited ability.

If Omar Bogle is worth 1.5m then Will Grigg who has scored 20+ goals in League One for two consecutive seasons is worth treble that. I hope we've told Grimsby to shove it if we enquired and they've quoted that price to us.

Things are hotting up in the race to sign Danny Ward.

Bidding's got to £2m and we've rejected ever single one, we'll hold out for as much as we possibly can.

Bids from Ipswich, Wolves and Brighton.

If Hogans going for £15m I see no reason why we shouldn't hold out for £5m.

Anyone who pays more than 1m including add ons for Ward is nuts.

Winnall deal done for 500K + add ons

Hourihane later today is a possibility.

To be honest mate there is literally no comparison between the two. If a player has the attributes to do well in the PL his value will shoot up massively, and Danny Ward most definitely does not have those attributes.

I'd say Grigg's fair price would probably be about £2.5m, which would be a fair increase on the amount he sold for last year given another decent scoring season. There is no way Grigg is worth much more than that.

The reason Bogle will get an inflated fee is the because of the goalscoring rates he's achieving this season. Grigg has always (apart from with us) been a solid 1 in 2 man in League 1. He's a good poacher in the box, but he doesn't have a lot of strength, or pace, so is requiring the rest of the team to set him up with the chances, and doesn't really end up helping the rest of the team's play.

Bogle is at, what, 18 in 20 this season? That hints at the potential for something a lot better, which is why his price will be higher than you'd expect.

Regardless, I think anyone would be mad to pay much over £1.5m for him at this stage.

We've got an option in Ward's contract to extend in the summer for an extra 12 months if we want to use it.

Grigg isn't as good as Garner who went for £1.8m but he's younger so £2m-£2.5m is probably about right, doubt a Championship club would pay that for him though.

Bogle is just a massive gamble, scoring goals in League Two doesn't mean a great deal.

I know Danny Wards not good enough for the PL he's just about adequate at this level but that doesn't mean we shouldn't use the Hogan transfer as a yardstick in negotiations.

Similar age, Hogan's scored 5 more but at the same time Ward's done it with the worst team in the division.

I'm not saying he's worth £5m but if Hogan's going for £15m and there's not much between em statswise, we should milk anybody who wants to buy Ward for what their worth for once.

markwwfc1992 has decided to call me out on the league two forum.

Apparently I make up stories about what goes on at Rotherham in regards to transfers, who agrees?

The first thing the Albino will say is Kris Commons who i repeatedly said would sign when fit, Stubbs got sacked I didn't happen. That's was the only connection linking us.

Apart from that in all your experiences of me, when am I wrong?

The leamington spa weirdo darent cal me out on here himself.

I really dont know why I'm lowing myself to reply, because as all good dabtes with Alex, they turn into pointless shitfests that end up getting deleted. Ah well...

You said Lee Gregory would sign, he didn't.

You said Tom Bradshaw would sign, he didn't

Kris Commons didn't as you have mentioned.

There are no doubt more, but aside from this reply I don't want to spend my day scrolling through 430 pages of transfer news to see what other crap you have posted. If there is a quicker way to do this I am all ears?

Moral of the story? You talk shit.

Said numerous times Gregory wanted the move, that's true. Fact we couldn't agree a fee doesn't change that and I said at the time we wouldn't pay what they wanted.

Everyone knows our Bradshaw deal.was done, was due at the ground to finalise the deal and Barnsley gazumped us which again I mentioned as I was massively pissed off at TS for not matching the deal.

You're not proving your fake accusation.

Was surprised Hugill went PNE at the time he left us as was very raw but seems to have done ok, chairman has confirmed a sell on fee so if you could sell him for 1.5 mil that would be lovely!

We've already rejected it, would be shocked if they come back in with more. He signed a new contract in September so we don't need to sell and as much as I don't really rate him, £2 million doesn't really get us much in todays market.

He's scored 5 more this season, and 7 goals in about a game and half of playing time last year...

Don't disagree that you should use other strikers as yardsticks, but looking at other strikers of similar ability and scoring records, you are looking at £2-£2.5m.

It's not a linear relationship between ability and value, the better a player is the higher the rate that his fee will go up by.

Someone else in the thread said that Ward has only 6 months left on his deal, not sure if that is true, but if it is then you'd be lucky to get much more than £1m.

This season is the first Danny Ward has been used solely as a froman, judge him on this season.

Seems to me you're saying you can demand what you want for strikers but we've got to settle for a relative pittance? Good job the club don't see it that way.
