Totally agree with you RE foreign signings, we've used that market to good effect over the past couple of years. They do take a while to adapt though (or most do) so you do have to be patient with them. We've definitely had a greater number of flops among our foreign contingent than the home grown guys, but we've also had great success stories like Colin, Jota and Vibe
Even in the absolute worst case scenario we can put out a similar team to last season which wasn't exactly a horror show. Finally got a squad with some depth to it. All eyes on the defence now. We don't really have a left-footed full back now (other than Denton who I'm not sure will make it here) and only have 2 CBs (including Liam Cooper) so got to get those right - don't want to be undone by our defence now we've finally got some creativity in there (hopefully!)

Be odd if they did sell him as he was heavily involved in their promotion and I'd expect clubs better placed to want him if true.

Definitely a DRAWB too, pig c***.
Only really featured because Solly March was injured, and he was usually behind Skalak in the pecking order.

Don't think he's good enough for the PL, would certainly be a decent signing if we do land him.

Was disruptive in our dressing room. Telling the younger players they can do better/get more money elsewhere and too demand more here. Amongst other things.

I'm not buying that. Even if it's true, it's not exactly a secret that our better players could earn more money elsewhere.

Whilst I wouldn't be shocked at that given his attitude at ours it does smack of a bit of sour grapes here.

Agreed, seen a few people on pne online spreading that about when it looked confirmed he wasn't coming back, he seemed well liked by everyone at PNE so I think it's bitterness.

I hope it doesn't work out for him at Sunderland and we can try and bring him back at some point, he's fucking brilliant.

You don't have to believe it but i was told it by the same person who told me about Bailey wright to Bristol about a month before it was known, which JJH can confirm. It's also been said by Dave Seddon to a few people.

It's not just the money thing, he has been hardwork in other ways too.

He is very much like Kevin Doyle, without the finishing. One thing you could never doubt him for us was his workrate, he would chase everything for 90 mins and feeding off scraps as a lone striker. Part of me thinks if he has good service he could be a good goalscorer at this level.

I'll miss the icelandic clap we adopted from him too.

I'll miss him. I think he'll get scoring again. Ironic but with the new service promised at Wolves, I reckon he'd do it for us too.

L'Equipe reporting that we've agreed a £1.7m fee for Neal Maupay. Quite excited by this one, looks quick, good runner, good eye for goal. Used to be quite highly rated (broke into the Nice team aged 16) but a couple of injuries seem to have set him back quite a bit.

Anyway, couple of noises that while we've agreed a fee, we're having trouble agreeing personal terms as there's other interest. Still hopeful it'll all get sorted.

I'd imagine he'd act as our back up striker / replacement for Jota if he's sold. I'd like another forward man to come in, but if we start the season with Vibe, Maupay and B Teamers we'd probably be ok.

We were apparently looking at him as a potential Mahrez replacement. Be interesting to see how he does. Hopefully we've not dismissed a gem.

yeah you, Galatasaray and Basel, Basel were in for him and he preferred a new challenge in England, it could go either way but his stats in the Swiss Prem for a winger are really good, not the worst level in the world either

Iorfa gone to Ipswich on a season long loan, which makes no real sense. Was brilliant for us a year ago but has dropped off since. Either sell him or play him, a loan deal seems strange.

Also Bodvarsson has completed his move to Reading.

How good/shit is Stephen Quinn nowadays Madejski?
Was injured all of last season so cannot really comment. The season before he was very useful. Played as our left sided CM in a 4-3-3, where he could also cover LM too. High energy, versatile player, who (when he was fit) would be an asset to any team in this league. Not a world-beater but reliable.

Slightly surprised we would sell. Not seen any rumours at our end for him leaving either.

Rumoured to be a loan. Can't really see it.

Dunno mate, I read on twitter on my lunch break earlier he was signing on loan but I've no idea where it came from.

We've had a 2 million pound bid accepted by Hull for Tom Huddlestone. Hopeful of getting it done over the weekend.

Good footballer, not sure if this is because of our doubts about George Thorne ever being able to complete a full season or if we're going for a couple of holding players. Hopefully the latter. Not a bad fee but he'll be on some wonga no doubt, we have just got a couple of big earners off the bill so room to play with.

Johnstone's done. Another season long loan. Rumours there's a clause in there for us to sign him permanently... If we go up.

I think his contract at United runs out next summer.

United seemed to have fucked him about for years. He's never going to get a game there so needs a permanent move.
I agree, and if he's half as good as he was following his VERY shaky start whilst he was here, I'd quite like that to be us.

Neal Maupay has officially joined. I find it amazing that I can still be surprised with the progress we're making. He looks a great signing, let's hope he lives up to the hype.

Thank you Mr. Benham once again.
