Happy to have helped Vale. Enjoy the win against our group of spunk flowers.

To be fair we've been playing well despite the injuries for a few weeks now but haven't been able to see out a lead. Got some nicer fixtures on paper so need to keep it going now.

First win of 2017 and first win of the season without Anthony Grant (about 15 games now!)

Back in hotel now as a few hours ahead. Good luck for the rest of the season you've got some quality up front to give you a chance.

If Swindon could hit a barn door they'd have won that by half time.

I've nowt against Swindon, in fact my best mate lives there and I quite like them, the gluepot is ace, but even with Ajose in the side they looked utterly toothless.
As Rory said they had 2 (3?) good chances 1st half.
The goal was a fluke, the equaliser scrappy but deserved.
Second half they offered nothing, the number 7? Jeez, he was bad.
Vale's effort (despite lack of quality) was immense, and it was a deserved win.
Both sets of fans got behind their team, it was a good atmosphere for a small crowd, but on that showing, I think the vale have more chance of staying up than Swindon.

If only L2 was as far as we'll fall. Power's 'model' is, first and foremost, about making money. Any success on the pitch is secondary. Next year's budget will be cut to a level whereby he can still get his cut. He bangs on about us being debt free, which is true apart from the fact that the club owe him personally instead at God knows what interest rate.

Obviously, many want him gone but I dread what actual state the club will be in when he does go. His previous business history is littered with bankruptcies and bust companies - including the now defunct Rushton and Diamonds.

Best player on the pitch by a mile was Brophy, ran our full backs ragged and dizzy.
Taking off Ajose? wow , did Sherwood make a phone call on that one ? Bizarre.
Felt we deserved it as the 1st Swindon goal summed up our luck, only Vale could go 3-1 up v 10 men with minutes to go though and leave us nail biting.
Not reading a great deal into this as felt Swindons ridiculous pitty patty at the back led to their demise.
Why do you do this Swindon fans ? it is League one and your keeper is an absolute liability.
Gives us a chance at least

Finally caught highlights...

Unlucky for their first, deflection beats Fasan.

Eagles with an easy tap in although seems to scuff it!

Good finish by JJ for our second... finally a decent set piece! Kiko I rate and a great ball for the goal.

Eagles had their man for the penalty but poor penalty from Anton... Thompson was a dick screaming in his face after he missed. Shame for Anton as deserved to score playing in the circumstance of his fathers death that morning.

Red card is a simple one... great ball from our youngster Reeves and Hooper kills him for pace... great free kick (seen that all over YouTube) made it look so simple.

WTF for their second. Poor defending and keeping and had we not scored just before would of been very costly.

Callum Guy seems to have got rave reviews yesterday fellow valiants???

Are we finally seeing the revival of Chris Eagles at Vale Park after tragedy affected his career in recent couple of years? Looks to be improving game on game.

Callum guy was as good yesterday as he was on his debut. Absolutely everywhere , winning tackles and rarely wasting it once won.
I was very impressed with Eagles, although he did try and do a few things a bit too 'clever' back heels and such. Also a bit quick to try and win dodgy fouls, ref had none of it, (bar the pen!)
That qpr lad on the wing 'crazy legs' was great to watch, certainly got the crowd going.
No-one was a poor, although I thought forrester wasn't great, understandable in the circumstances.

Shopido should be great considering QPR fans were furious he'd been loaned out after playing for them fairly regularly but for some reason hadn't been getting a look in. Buzzing for Friday now when Il be back at VP and hoping we can continue to improve.

Ajose had been recovering from injury and I presume couldn't have lasted the whole game.

As for the tippy tappy nonsense, not sure why you are asking us, we have no idea what the point is, it clearly doesn't work.

As for the dodgy keeper, apparently Vigs had a broken finger. No idea why you would play in those circumstances. 99 times out of 100 he would have gathered that ball in that Eagles scored from. He's been pretty faultless most matches this season and having to play behind a team of shite hawks isn't his fault, and he will probably win our POTS.

I also just watched the highlights, my take on it.

Your first should have been gathered in by Vigs. He played with a broken finger which I'm guessing played a part as he would normally be much better handling those kind of deliveries.

Your second, I'm sorry but that's just rank defending on our part. Not a great ball in but we are sleeping.

Agree that Nathan Thompson was out of order for his behaviour at the penalty miss. I want to see our captain try and galvanise the side but he was more interested in goading Forrester, prat.

Barry's was a clear sending off and it looked like Eagles was running the show for Vale, finally showing his class I guess.

Onto Tuesday and Sheffield United at home, champion! :(

If keeper injured that explains it i guess, Thompson had no need to do that, though i guess he didn't know Forresters dad had died that morning, even so idiotic as it was so unecessary.

A pretty eventful game in the end and I think we just about edged it after a poor first half hour. We were way too open and Swindon were cutting through the middle at will - with better finishing they may well have been a couple up. Brophy caused us problems and looked a cut above most of Swindon's players but then it seemed like he swapped wings second half which was a crazy decision. In spite of Ajose coming back from injury, I would have still kept him on until the end as he looked the only likely source for a goal.

I understand that Vigoroux is highly rated and has done really well this season, but he looked very unsure on Saturday (perhaps understandable given his apparent injury). Basically Swindon looked like Vale, lacking quality in key areas of the pitch and always looking likely to concede. It's no surprise to see both down near the bottom.

We won it through endeavour and work rate, typified by Callum Guy who must have ran twice the distance of others on the pitch. Hooper has a very good touch and looks better when advancing at a defence from deep. Shodipo was excellent for the first half but then tired, but with match fitness he could make the difference for us. Shame about Forrester and felt for him with the penalty miss, but he worked very hard and held the ball up well.

Eagles looks a good player and it's no surprise he's played higher up. Clearly just needed some fitness and to 'belong' somewhere.

I feel a bit more positive about our chances as I believe the players will really play for Brown and Morgan. As I've read elsewhere, the bottom 8 or so teams all lack quality and it will probably come down to fight. We've got 3 games in hand and only 2 points adrift, which feels a lot better.

I agree. No clue why he did it at all. Perhaps something was said between the two but either way, it didn't leave a nice taste.

Brophy looked quality is he homegrown or on loan ? I thought Gladwin looked decent at times but tends to drift in and out.
The game was almost a mirror image of what we have been doing.
Losing a lead within minutes, giving Penalties away and general sloppy turds at the back.
Hence we both in the bottom 4.
I think we have a fighting chance but have got to accrue points before the last 4 games or we could be in the doo doo

Brophy was picked up from non league Edgeware Town. He's been in and out of the side due to injury and some mystery breathing illness. Appears to be fully fit now. Final delivery needs working on but I suppose he is one of very few dim lights in a team full of broken bulbs.

Well if he is from that low down the Leagues he is a raw talent, i thought he made our full back go giddy , he ran him ragged but then swapped sides where he wasn't quite as good. Definite prospect.

I really like Brophy. As ID says, he has been not bad in a shambolic season to date. When he is good, he can be unplayable, when he is bad, he is shocking, but he always puts in the effort and that's all you can ask I guess. He seems to have blistering pace and just needs to play with a bit more confidence.
