Ok. I give Scousers a fair bit of grief on here, but fair play to them. They have always acknowldeged my team and 99.9% of them speak highly of my club. Have only met three scousers who gave me a hard time and I chased them down the street.
Just got home from work and went to the shop in my Burnley hat. Saw a few glances and grimaces. We lead Merseyside 4-1 so nobody can really comment. All good banter if they did.
So. To scousers and their fans. Fair play. You are sound. Anyone live in a rival town (so to speak) and get a less friendly welcome?

Not in the habit of overtly wearing colours that often, don't do replica shirts, but I do have the odd polo shirt, car sticker, hat and suchlike.

When I was in west London going back a few years, I genuinely had great fun with the local QPR and particularly Brentford lot I met, always up for a beer and a natter about the ups and downs of our clubs. Have a real soft spot for Brentford as a result of the people I knocked around with in those years. The Chelsea/Arsenal majority didn't have a bloody clue who Bournemouth were at that point and weren't at all interested.

Whilst in Southampton for a few years I was always met with a few seconds of awkward silence whilst the cogs turned in their heads, before they stuttered over themselves to explain how they really (really, really) didn't care about Bournemouth. After a few minutes of getting that off their chest and realising I'd heard it all 100 times before, the majority were absolutely fine and good for some sensible talk. Some however it was just impossible to have a sensible conversation without passive aggressive nonsense.

Back home in Bournemouth these days as my wondering 20s turn into more boring settled 30s. Before my time living away it was fairly rare to see too many Bournemouth colours around Bournemouth. Living back here again the support for the club is completely unrecognisable. Long may it continue.

That's an interesting dissertation and a welcome one, from a relatively new member to the top table. I don't mean that condescendingly. You pretty much say so yourself in your post that these are indeed heady times for Bournemouth.
It's always intrigued me though how people react if you were to wear something showing your allegience in another town/city. I was in Doncaster a number of years a go and I happened to have on a Clarets shirt. Was quite bewildered to see a Rovers (Doncaster) fan having a go at me. Which was odd as I was sat with a Sheffield Wednesday fan having a lovely chat.
Don't get me wrong, I don't brazenly go about on a daily basis showing off my colours. Just that the only dry hat I had was my Burnley beanie.
There was a chap on another thread, Tranmere. Who has a hatred for us because of a possible simulation back in the 80's.
It's all quite interesting as to how people form opinions of other clubs, rightly or wrongly.

Doesn't really apply down here, as Plymouth is 60+ miles away, and Camborne is a rugby town.

Still occasionally get the 'What shirt is that?' followed by 'What league are they in?' and even 'Where is that?'

Mostly from Man Utd fans actually.

Doesn't really matter here in Dundee so much if you wear Dundee or Dundee Utd stuff, as most wear Premier League stuff or one of the big European boys anyway and then its all mixed. Would probably be different in Glasgow with the Rangers/Celtic stuff, but as for here nobody bats an eyelid what teams strip you wear.

I do nod at people who wear Dundee or Liverpool stuff though, which has led to some funny looks occasionally however!

Yeah I understand that. I used to live in a small village in Bucks near High Wycombe. Suffice to say, it's a very small village and I wore my Burnley shirt to the pub. Quite hilarious now I remember as the bar owner was as camp as Louis Spence and was a West Ham fan. So when someone chirped up 'Bloody Hammers - Ooonited!' He proper laid into them in a camp way. It was a cross between Danny Dyer, Louis Spence and Mr Humphries. I guess you'd have to be there to appreciate it :cool1:

Do you reckon you'd get your face walloped for swanning around the streets of Dundee in a full Barcelona kit, Salty?

Nope we are tolerant up here as we are enlightened and open to other cultures and not xenophobic so we embrace those wearing the colours of foreign teams. I wore my Romario Barca top when I got it and saw approving looks wherever I wandered.

I say hello to everyone when I pass them in the street where I live. I don't care if they don't reply.

I would blank them if they were wearing Ascot United colours though.

Not all Tranmere fans dislike Burnley. Only seen Tranmere at Turf Moor once, but recall going into Leeds station in a Rovers shirt after a game and there was a group of Burnley fans who broke into a rousing Ian Moore chant on seeing it, which brought a smile to my face.

These days the only Tranmere item I wear regularly out is a retro scarf. The orange and maroon colour mean it's often confused with Bradford City or Huddersfield Giants item, but never had any problem with them to date. Hope that continues.

A lot of people I know dislike Burnley because when they travelled to Turf Moor with Cardiff someone had daubed some "ABERFAN" graffiti near the away end.

Why would Tranmere fans dislike Burnley?

In Paris, you get all big clubs.

It goes back to the days when we were lower division 80's/early 90's I am told and a contentious decision according to a Tranmere fan on here that our player dived in a critical match. When he mentioned who dived, I tried to explain that he hadn't dived but he just had two left feet.

Everton dont wear colours because that is Kopite behaviour.

Would never want Everton to become a plastic club with likes of Salty and Gdragon supporting them......fuck that.

If you wear your HSV shirt in St.Pauli you have to pay double price for a "kick"

Hater? Me? No way, I like St. Pauli in a way as long as they don't play against HSV. But in my post I didn't mean this kick but the "kick" at the Reeperbahn :D

I only wear AFC Wimbledon shirts at away matches although my topical t-shirts draw some attention - in particular the "It only took nine years" one.

My daughter lives in Fife and her Dons shirts have attracted a lot of attention - even to the point of East Fife asking for a pre-season friendly.

:D, I know that you know but others maybe don't understand the little joke, that's why I explained it ;)

btw: I like the yt video and the song very much. I've often said here that I like the St.Pauli Bunch, too. They are really unique and I hope they can avoid relegation to the 3rd League (like we can avoid relegation to the 2nd league)
