I think it's fair to say that EURO 2016 hasn't been a great tournament for the megastars top scorers.
Robert Lewandowski. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Harry Kane have all been pretty quiet. But Perharps the biggest dissapointment has been Cristiano Ronaldo.
We know he's one of the greatest the game has ever produced and he'ss be named among legends of Real Madrid. Euro 2016 might just be his last chance at international glory. He'll be 33 by the next world cup if Portugal even qualifies and this was the moment he was supposed to show us that he can single handedly drag his nation to glory after failing to do that in 6 other international tournaments.
Ronaldo is never related to the term "Ugly" but that's what his stats have been at the Euros. He's had 20 shots, which after the 2nd round of matches was the highest of any player and higher than 9 of the competing nations.
The game against Austria was a nightmare; missing a penalty, getting caught offside constantly and adding to his ridiculous free kick statistics. He's taken 36 international tournament free kicks now and has scored none. About time someone else tried.
So is CR7's abilities in decline? For me it's an absolute NO for two reasons.
Cristiano Ronaldo is used to getting the best service from the worlds best players. That is why he has been exceeding 50 goals for 6 consecutive seasons. There is simply not enough quality around him right now to make him shine.
Secondly the 31-year-old is human for goodness sake. He struggled with injuries towards the end of last season and definitely wasn't 100% in the champions league final. He played 53 times last season and i honestly think the guy just needs a rest.
We can expect another good domestic season from Ronaldo after he has had a week or two on a yacht surrounded by gorgeous women.
Or could that be the reason why he is puffed??
