Wolves go into the game comfortably beating 2 of the inform teams in the division, and high on confidence. However well we have done against teams higher than Wolves in the league table, we have struggled against teams lower down. In past seasons this is typically the game we would lose, but this is a new era for the club, along with that hopefully better fortunes. This is no way a must win game for Wigan at this early stage, but I'm sure they'll be looking at this fixture and hoping to get some points on the board.

As for the team, in typical Zenga fashion expect quite a few changes from the team that played on Saturday. Think he will give league debuts to a few players here. I'll guess our team will look something like:

Ikeme

Iorfa - Batth - Stearman - Silvio

Saiss - Coady

Mason - Cavaliero - John

Gladon
Prediction Wigan 1-1 Wolves

Not gonna lie Mark with the players you have I'd be very happy to be up against that team you've put above. God knows what GC will do with us. Pressure is starting to build and the fans are starting to turn, another loss at home would be a big blow. I'd hope to see this team in a 4-3-3.

Warnock

The team we will put out will be weaker than the Saturday team for sure. Zenga seems to think most of our players can't play Saturday - Tuesday. Sorry but with that mentality maybe managing in the Championship was the wrong decision.

Fielding weaker teams and our rotation policy has cost us points already this season, and I think it will be our undoing on Tuesday aswell.

By the way, is there any chance we can borrow that famous sheet banner to use at FT following our inevitable defeat?

We're not even playing a striker, just 3 Portuguese attacking midfielders...

Doherty - Iorfa - Batth - Silvio

Saiss - Oniangue

Edwards

Costa - Cavaliero - Teixiera

Le Fondre joins Adam Hamill and Van la Parra on the list of ex players to score past us. On for some sort of record.

Massive win against a very dangerous Wolves team. For all that total football we try and play, we won it with a route one goal which makes it even more hilarious. Thankfully tonight Grigg did what he didn't do against PNE and scored his one golden chance of the match. It's also nice to be on the right end of a late winner for a change this season.

Wolves had by far the best midfield (Prince looks a very good player) but their defence is extremely dodgy (Batth is terrible) and will stunt their progress this season. Plus they seriously lack depth, when both teams made a double chance they brought on Saville and Gladon while we brought on Grigg and Powell. You wouldn't have thought we were the team bottom of the league with those changes. Nothing stuck for them up top despite their impressive midfield, they obviously missed Bodvarsson. I can't see them getting promotion this year with that sort of squad depth and defence but once they've had a couple of windows to sort that out I think next season they'll be right up there.

It's a shame we have such a tough game away at Brentford on Saturday because we need to try and build on this. If we can somehow avoid defeat it would be a great result and then we could go into the international break on a high with two weeks to prepare for another winnable game in Burton at home.

Hopefully Dicko will be back soon to at least offer a different option when Bod needs a rest.
