My first game in non league was gravesend & northflett,
Got off train at Gravesend, looked round station and all ran back to train, thought we had got off at wrong station it was that small.

To make matters worse , next season some teams in conference North probably won't even have a station.
The joys of being shit?
Blyth and spennynoor if yous know where that is have no stations due to beeching cuts. Blyth is worst as you have to walk to other end of newcastle city centre to catch a bus. Still nowts as worse as the long bus journey from gloucester station to nailsworth [emoji1]

Joy,thought you could get to Blyth.
Spennymoor is like Malton and that speaks volumes to the standard we are at.
Strangely looking forward to next season and new places to go but sure it won't last long.
Harrogate will be great never played a team only 15 miles away before, plus to actually play games in Manchester (Salford & FC Utd) will be a great piss up,not visiting shitholes like BURY,

Spennymoor fans must be delighted, 5 seasons ago they won the FA Vase but failed to get promoted from the 9th tier, now they're about to start life in the 6th tier.

genesimmons, why didn't you go to Stroud? 20 minute bus from there that stops right near the ground.

Whilst spennymoor aint as big as a few towns in the league theres been far smaller towns hosting conference teams. Not bad facilities and improvements are in the pipeline. They own a pub too which aint bad

Good job you didn't get off at Northfleet, that's even smaller!
And grim. Several decades ago, I worked with a bunch of Londoners who sold their flats or were offered council flats in Northfleet as an incentive to move jobs there. Safe to say they didn't realise what it was like until they arrived. Now that's an idea for a discussion. Grimmest National League town.

Gravesend is paradise compared to Northfleet. And Dartford for that matter.

I've actually never been but I picture Barrow as a relentlessly grim place

I believe it is possible to watch Ebbsfleet for free from the roof of Wallis Park flats. Gravesend is not so bad, but does have a couple of areas you wouldn't stray into. I have a negative perception of Aldershot that may be undeserved.

Canvey Island wasn't great tbf. At least at Ebbsfleet you can leave quickly and get on the motorway out of there. Canvey is like a maze.

Barrow and Halifax are absolute abortions, as was Luton.

Gravesend isn't really any better than Dartford I don't think, but there's not much in it. Kinda like two bald men fighting over a comb.

Maybe I'm bias. It's just everytime I go to Dartford these days, it's a ghost town. Nothing there anymore. Let's just agree that Northfleet is worse than the both of them! ;)

Aldershot is a big Barracks town - good for fighting.

sometimes deep down i can't help myself reminiscing..
about all the good times had while winning games in this league we were pissing.
its good to be considered a big fish in a small polluted pond,
and finding out that others were,of us, less enamored or fond.
going to games at many far flung places,
seeing the joy we brought to those excited young faces.
knowing the chances of winning were greater and not so often experiencing a loss,
made it a wonderful day out although some grounds were right shit and dross.
i am so glad we escaped the league from hell,
and hope others have similar times to look back on,like me,as well.
oakey :fing:
