I've been banned from viewing ours after telling them how cringeworthy and childish it came across.

Plymouth as a club don't half come out with some complete crap - their manager said some daft things when they won at Mansfield recently (not that Evans is immune from such comments) and their social media has always been questionable.

Which is a complete opposite of their fans, who have always been pretty decent and a laugh, ones who I've always been fond of despite our crap record against them.

I think our Twitter account is great. If you don't like it don't read it :2thumb: It's refreshing that in this modern era of policies and rule books where every organisation has to come across like a do gooding robot, that we can see there is a human behind the account :gr: this is football and not family law, get over it. Our media department do a sterling job, with lots of clubs now copying our original matchday moments idea amongst other things.

Re the comments at Mansfield - it has now been established this was a Steve Evans fact (ie made up bullshit). Shock :bl:

I largely ignore it as it is mostly clickbait, however, it is occasionally worthwhile such as when it was used to promote some free tickets prior to the Liverpool game. Using French speaking Garita and his way of spelling Plymouth was pure unintended genius.
The account used to be cringeworthy when it announced the team with odd nicknames.

I don't mind when Adams winds up the Evans of this world, but I thought he was wrong in his views of Crawley on Saturday.
I don't fully agree with PG re our media team, but I do totally concur about Matchday Moments which is brilliant, and being copied (but not as well) by others.

It's a tough one. Social media is my game also and this involves manning the company Facebook page and Twitter feed and I can empathise with a lot of the points in the article. Many a time I've wanted to retort to some ill informed bollocks or meme the living hell out of someone. However more and more social media is becoming the primary customer facing medium and first point of contact for the public to get in touch with you. As such you just can no longer post whatever you want unless you want a shit storm that will quickly work its way up the management hierarchy before being dumped on you.

I've noticed before how unprofessional Argyles comes across and wondered how they get away with it. Presumably management at the club are ok with it otherwise I'm sure they would have been pulled by now, however as time goes on more and more people will pick up on this (particularly as they move up the leagues) and I wouldn't bet against the tone of their output changing.

I'm not saying its right.Indeed many companies social feeds thrive from edgey output, however these tend not to be football clubs as the subject matter is so devisiv. Nobody wants an emotionless robot at the other end of the line replying to you, however unfortunately we live in a world where a/ Everyone is offended by something and b/ owns a smartphone. Recipe for disaster.

No issue with it personally, their audience is Plymouth fans and they're playing to it.

You want to see what our chairman comes out with on there!

I've no problem with this at all. At least it shows a bit of passion. Yes, it can of course come back to bite you on the backside. I've tweeted mocking Oldham before and had a month old tweet retweeted by excited Latics fans when they beat us. It's just a laugh. Anyway, the Plymouth media team tweeted congratulating Donny on Saturday which I thought was great considering they are desperate to catch us. Oh, and they've also not joined in with most Argyle fans in their opinion that Coppinger beating Carey to a nomination for POTY is ridiculous. That was rather funny from a Rovers point of view!

For me nail on head, the tone of voice on Argyle's FB and Twitter reflects what appears to be a club philosophy/approach. Like you say I suspect it will need to be naunced a bit next year.

Social networking sites originated as person to person comms. Once organisations started to adopt them there was always a tension for how a corporation tried to used an individual based tool. If a club's Twitter account is bylined by Joe Bloggs you know you are dealing with an individual making essentially personal viewpoints, but if it is the media team, this is a bit more amorphous and more likely to reflect a party line, not a conversation.

If you want to be a c***, use your own Twitter account.

Agree with this, if you are using PAFC account you are representing PAFC and so should be professional, if you want to be a fan use your own account. As GG says Lincoln's was/is embarrassing as well, as was the National League's official account last season, no idea if they still are.

Argyle's twitter account is embarrassing. I can't wait to see some of the shit they'll come out with on Friday.
