Ever since the implementation of 3 points for win many have mused on what happens to the third point when there is a draw.
Perhaps the SPFL has found the answer in the group stages of the Scottish League Cup.
In order to streamline the competition it was decided to dispense with extra time and replays in the knockout stage and to go straight to a penalty shootout in the event of a draw.
It seems this decision has been extended to the group stages where in the event of a draw there is a penalty shootout with the the winner of the shootout getting 2 points and the loser 1 point.
Perhaps this could be implemented for all league games?
