I reckon if Klopp ditches that strategy in favour of a "if you score 0, we'll score 6" you'll be in with a better chance of winning the league.

Don't worry Johnny, they'll never get me.
I saw you post in the shoutbox enviously the other night regretting the fact Klopp came to Liverpool and not Man Utd; I think you are swooning. ;)

Pagnells post was based on fact, spekers on hope/expectation.

Sort of. Mine is based on the expectation of a settled def showing improvement the more they play together. With Pagnell's argument he's basically saying this is as good as it'll get and nowt will change. I think we've already seen improvement ie 5 goals conceded in the first two games but only 9 in the next 11. Anyway I'm done with this now.

Is that true Salty?
Very true JT, I came on and saw the post at the top of the shoutbox but it had been posted a while back that night from when I logged in so I never responded on the night.

We are conceding silly goals due to individual errors (Lucas against Leicester, Lovren the other night giving the ball away to an oncoming McArthur), but overall we are not getting overrun as we were under Rodgers and when Johnson and Skrtel were there. We are getting more heads to the ball in general on crosses, but its generally the second ball (like with the West Brom goal last week) where we need to improve.

I'm gona put a cheeky £5.00 on Liverpool to lose 2 from the next 3.

You maybe think I'm crazy but remember I also predicted Leicester Arsenal and Donald Trump what odds would I get fir that.

To quote your original claim, you said "Leicester won the league with a Huth-Morgan partnership ,hardly inspiring but they did enough". Did enough implies they won the title despite what you view as a limitation, whilst seemingly ignoring the fact they did more than just 'enough' by conceding 36 league goals, only one less than what the joint two best defensive teams managed. Liverpool, by contrast, have conceded 13 goals in 10 games, more than what half the teams in the league have so far conceded. And yes, whilst improvements are ongoing, in particular in regards to open play goals, we're still short of a defensive quality that can be compared to Leicester last season. The fact we have only kept one clean sheet in the league so far this season spells that out. Hopefully things continue to improve, but as things stand the comparison is stupid, and that was my point. And, as the chimp said, that point was based on fact, not hope.

I suspect you made that initial comment without actually realising how well Leicester performed defensively last season and you now don't want to back down.

In the last 10 years of title winners we conceded less than City in 13/14, Utd in 12/13, Utd in 10/11, with the City one both being 37 I think and Utd in the 40's. The earlier Utd ones and Chelseas successes were significantly better in the goals against column, so if you hit around the same mark as us last season you're still only on to win about 2 in 5 title races.

Saying that, those 4 title wins mentioned came in the last 5 seasons, so actually you've got a 4 in 5 chance.

IT'S YOUR FUCKING YEAR!

So basically, if we completely ignore that football is also about scoring goals this is true???

Very interesting.

Look , Huth and Morgan are not imo opinion great cb's nor one of the leagues best pairings. but last season to their credit they got the job done. My point being that I'm not concerned re Lpool's def coz I think they're are also capable of "doing enough" and "getting the job done" this season for the reasons I stated .I thought that was pretty clear in my op.

I'm not concerned too much re Lpool's back four, Matip(and Karius) new to the league,Milner new to the position and as a unit still bedding in. They've been good enough to see us tied for top spot right now and will almost certainly improve as they play more together.

Talk about pulling teeth ;)
