It's nice to know that with such great uncertainty sweeping across the world and the future looking ever more precarious, Arsenal remain Arsenal.

5-1 like last season (group stage). Arsenal is always very welcome in Germany. Now they can concentrate on reaching Top4 to gain access to the Champions League next season :D

Could say three of the 4 ties so far are almost done and dusted...guess Napoli will come back strongly in Naples.

Highly predictable from Arsenal tonight!

Really? I thought they wanted to break the curse. And after this weird penalty (Lewandowski couldn't see Koscielny coming from the side but all commentators said that this was penalty) and then Sanchez failing failing again and in the 3rd attempt he made it, I thought that they could get a result. From the 30th until half time they even had chances. But after Koscielny gone in the first minutes of the 2nd half their defense went awol. That they are so dependant of one defender is a bit weak. But who am I to complain.Only one thing: Bayern could've scored 2 or 3 more ....but we don't hammer our opponents/i

Wenger has turned this club into a joke. Please just leave.

Honestly he should just announce his resignation in the next few weeks. Hopefully that would stop the vitriol from the fans and rally the squad behind him until the end of the season. But he has to leave. He is so tactically behind it is painful. He's never been a tactical genius, his strength was identifying players to bring in but times have changed and that's not enough now.

Remember when Ozil chipped a Bulgarian goat herder and Arsenal fans thought he was world class?

Awful night for English football yesterday, 5-1 flattered Arsenal.

It was similar to the Barcelona tie in the sense Bayern completely dominated the midfield area. Starting with the 'Ox', a bang average premier league winger, against Xabi Alonso, Vidal and Thiago? He was destroyed out there - replete with a League Two esque gifting of the fifth and a bizarre tantrum minutes later.

Shocked he wasn't criticised more for the fifth to be honest, can you imagine if that was someone like Gabriel or Ozil? Would have been hounded for weeks, but the 'Ox' got away scot free.

I don't know what you're talking about because Ox was actually one of our better players last night 5th goal aside, despite being switched position twice, and one of a few who actually seemed to care. Meanwhile Coquelin was completely anonymous all game, made just 6 passes! No wonder Xhaka and Ox were so outmatched, they were completely overwhelmed. This game was crying for Elneny who can press around the pitch and is stronger on the ball, Coquelin is better when we are attacking and get hit on the counter.

Ox has often been a scapegoat in recent years but I think the consensus is only Ospina, Sanchez, Ox and Koscielny came away with any credit today. He wasn't criticised for the 5th firstly because the game was over, and secondly because individual errors are more easily forgiven if the player is actually seen to care. Mistakes happen to everyone, no need to bite his head off when there were much bigger problems in our performance.

Its actually painful to watch the hope dissipate entirely and be replaced by apathy at seeing it all happen again and again as the day goes on.

As I wrote yesterday: Groundhog Day

In the 2nd leg they'll win 3-0, because that's what Bayern does when they have a comfortable lead, they'll let it slide a bit, and Sanchez fails with the penalty in the 90th minute (no 2nd and 3rd attempt this time) ;)

So, next week the english big guns are playing (not these wannabees from London :D ):

Man City vs Monaco 2-0
Sevilla vs Leicester City 2-0

Man City vs Monaco 2-0
Think you'd get good odds for that. Monaco are the best attack in Europe. Them not scoring is very rare plus City haven't exactly been watertight at the back under Guardiola.

We'll see.

OK, they score in Ligue 1 like nothing (76 in 26 matches) but this is the CL. In the group stages they scored a mediocre 9 Goals in 6 matches (against Leverkusen they scored only 1 in 2 games and this was in the 94th minute with their only chance in the game. ) but they won their group because the other teams weren't any better in scoring
But tbh I would be pleased if Monaco could prove me wrong and when they'll advance against Pep City.

edit: Leverkusen actually found their form again in the Bundesliga with 2 convincing wins. But I always have my doubts when they play against a spanish side in the CL, especially Atletico is always a very "nasty" opponent. You don't get many chances against them.

Tbh, I don't think Monaco fancied themselves in that group. They just played their own football and realised that they could get more than a point in games where they were underdogs (Wembley). They changed from a super-strong defensive unit to a free-flowing attacking machine. I highly doubt City will keep a clean sheet in either game.

I can't stand ManCity and so I would be fine with it when Monaco scores in both games and advances to the next round but I still have doubts about it.
Pep's team out in the 1/8 final? Unthinkable for me at the moment. If ManCity plays in the semi-final against a spanish side that would be a no-brainer that they'll go out ;)
