Tbf the signings don't seem as shite as I initially made out. I want to see them in action though, and I want to hear an official announcement as to strategies and intentions not just on the pitch but off it. How much of the club is being sold. Will they finish the new stand. Will we still be brass bank puppets. A lot more to it than an agent shipping over his mates. Gut says it's a recipe for disaster but I can't really say that until we have a notion

Today's papers suggesting Sheridan is on his way out with Walter zeng a coming in.

The fact Sheridan did no interviews this weekend may back up him leaving if not who is coming in.

Shocking.news if true

Wouldn't be surprised if Shez did get the boot simply because new owners always want their own men in, but I don't want Zenga and I reckon that's just a lazy link that's been thrown out there.

And another midfielder joins the ranks on a 2 year deal. French and done the rounds in lower league European football. We have got a massive squad now

What is the thought process behind these european signings?

It sounds awfully similar to what went on at Vale park last season which was a complete disaster and we are still paying the price for that gamble with our football league status on the line this season.

A lot of our fanbase were getting excited about signing all these exotic sounding players last season, who had absolutely no football league experience.

I've not read a great deal into the ins and outs of these Oldham deals, but are the alarm bells not ringing within the Oldham fanbase?

Somewhere behind the scenes, there will be an agent making a decent amount of money of the back of these signings.

EDIT: Just had read through the 1st page and noticed a few references to us last season.

Haven't Oldham even signed a Curacao International... just like big Reg (who had his finest hour against Oldham at VP ironically).

Of the many foreign signings only 2 remain (one of whom is injured for the season) and the rest have been paid off in the summer so an expensive cock up. Would be very worried if I was an Oldham fan... look at us for where you could end up (and judging by how our mainly second string comfortably held you in the cup)

It all sounds good and you kind of ignore other fans at first until the reality sets in and the disaster unfolds. Most just weren't up to the physicality or speed of the game. We even had a couple of top flight players from Portugal such as Tavares and he was scouted by Sunderland at one point but he just couldn't get the speed of it.

We hadn't signed any of Nepomuceno, Omrani, Menig, Placide or Maouche when we played in the Checkatrade Trophy, this has all happened since then.

We'll just have to wait and see really.

How have you managed to sign all of these players after the window shut?

They were all free agents except Menig, whose loan signing was reported in French press before the deadline.

All most people want from their club's owners is for them to be football people, and to really care about doing what's right for the club, to be in for the long haul. Now is that second point true about Lemsagam? We can't know until any takeover actually happens, he speaks, and words are borne out by actions. For now, we wait, and hope on the field matters improve.

I'm certainly not dismissing the potentially valid concerns of Port Vale's fans, but each case has to be taken on its own merit, and I simply don't think we know enough yet to know which way this will go.

For any concerned Oldham fans, now might be a good time to join the Trust. Some people aren't fans of it, but the only way to effect change is from within.

Seems Oldham might get Walter Zenga as manager. You will instantly become the moist, famous team in Italy. Walter says so.

Tbf we have improve drastically in the last couple of games and I still ain't concerned about relegation just yet.

However as you say I'm waiting to see what the takeover brings. To here targets and expectations. To hear what the future holds for shez. Too early to worry about on field matters.
I'm still approaching the takeover with an open mind but the port vale comparisons are very real. We can only hope these foreigners (We are yet to see any of them really for an extended period) are a step above what vale had.

That seems like some lazy reporting from lazy reporter Alan Nixon.

I'm interested to see if we can get some good reporting from Mike Keegan. He's one of the Mail's top football newsmen and an Oldham fan. I wouldn't be surprised if he's doing some digging while the fans are in the dark.

I'd be more worried about bringing Zenga in than these foreigners we have signed.

Rumour has it that this potential new owner, with Corney staying on in some capacity, want to introduce a development squad in which these foreign free agents would play in, to either prove to the management that they're good enough for the first team, or to secure a contract elsewhere. I'd be happy if that were the case, as opposed to the first team becoming basically an open trial for X amount of free agents.

Will be some unknown foreigner.

Tbd ad much as I loved Sheridan he put far too much belief in getting Ripley back. Once that didn't happen it all went pair shaped. His subs were questionable at best. And his back 3 formation didn't work. As much as I love the guy you can't really say he was hard done by

Clarence Seedorf is now favourite.

Couldn't give a shit about his managerial credentials, the thought of him managing Latics gets me moist.

After chat of Alan Stubbs this is a welcome dose of ridiculousness.

This investor must have proper club-altering cash then.

I could put twenty quid on my big toe becoming your next manager, would probably make it one of the favourites considering how little cash is bet at this level.

Seedorf, well he looks shit managerially, and the fuck would he know about L1 football?

Not much tbh.

But it's infinitely more interesting than Alan Stubbs, Owen Coyle, Billy Davies et al.

PuB, you're not thinking of the big picture! Every Oldham fan is going to become 25% sexier just by mere residual association with Clarence Seedorf, and that's just off the top off my head.

It really sounds like you take L1 football too seriously. No one cares about it. It's just a bit of a laugh.

Seedorf sounds brilliant. Hopefully he will do an Edgar Davids and refuse to travel to games too far away from London.

This seems to happen most months. Not that it's okay like, but we're used to hearing this so no real alarm bells just yet. In fact it makes it all the more amazing how well the players have played this last week.

Just hope this takeover/investment/whatever the fuck it is hurries up and concludes so we don't have to be constantly looking over our shoulders financially and can start acting like a well-run football club again.
