Having scored 5 more and conceded 3 less you´d certainly expect a fair smattering of ours to get in the Wednesday team.

Looking at it from the perspective of who would get in our team.
Westwood yes, none of the defence as ours is perfectly fine, Wallace 5 years ago great player but at 32 is not better than O´Dowda, Bannan yes, Butterfield maybe. Reach is not more creative than Paterson, plus one of strikers to compliment Reid.

Don't forget Wednesday have George Boyd. He's brilliant at this level, will be flying for Wednesday as soon as he gets himself fit. I'd have creamed myself had we signed him.

This is the first season in a long time that I'm confident in our ability to pick up points on the road. But as is the nature of this division this game could go any way. I'd like to back us to come away with a win, but have a feeling this will be a draw, in reality not a bad result for either team.

POTD with 850 sold, not too bad at the prices charged.

I assume the £32 we will be charged means we can justify a smaller following?
Yes, which is exactly why you'll have more at Reading next week than you will at ours next year.

Tbf if Wednesday were in you're position they'd of sold 3k at £33 to bristol. 850-1000 considering youre position isn't a very good following imo. You took nearly 2k to london in midweek which was a cracking fillowing but as soon as a northern game comes about you're fans go into hiding

Wednesday's away support over long distance is much better than ours though.

I've never claimed it will be a good following, I've always said we'd have 1,000 up on Saturday and Walkley's always been adamant that we won't. 1,500 would've been decent, but we won't get near that. 1,200 at most with POTD.

If I recall correctly you praised Reading's following up at The Lane the other week? They had free coach travel, much cheaper match tickets and we're still gonna have a similar amount up in Sheffield.

We will sell out at yours if we are up there, regardless of price
Bollocks will you, will bet any amount you don't sell the 3,700. You don't even take that to London.

We didn't to Fulham this season but last November it was 3,884, it depends on league position obviously.

They've been much more successful in recent years than us on the pitch. Not sure how you rate their away support, I think it's absolutely wank but lots of people argue that it's just a town club etc etc

Don't care how successful theyve been, still a small club and always will be. So on that basis they're away support isn't wank it's just standard for a club that size

Reading will always be a League One club in my mind purely for the amount of years they've spent down there compared with the top two divisions, 65 years in the bottom two or something like that.

They've got a bigger fan base nowadays but their fans are dead, the Madejski is akin to a library whenever I've been, the sort of fans that politely applaud goals.

Having said all that, they still always manage to beat us.

The same Bryan you lot were slating last year? Not seen enough of him to make that call either way, where does he play?
The reactionary among us were.

He's a quality player, however last year he had real issues with consistency. He has come on leaps and bounds in that regard.

Should be an interesting game.

Wednesday are terribly inconsistent, usually start with a slow cautious tempo then try to take gradual control of a game. Also the expectancy can make them nervous at home, an early Bristol City goal could create real tension and negativity amongst the home fans.

Hard one to predict, make Wednesday very slight favourites (have excellent individual players).

But I’ll go for a 1-1 draw in front of 26,145 (with 1,048 away fans)

Agree, always considered Bristol City to be bigger than Reading.
I went to Elm Park a few times in the 80’s and thought of them, almost as a village team ;-)
Then had some very good times in the 90’s though but still historically a smallish club.

Course we are, they're still getting less than us at home now despite their recent successes, much less away, their stadium is smaller and they have spent 60 years and we have more than 30 years more in the top two divisions than them.

I see your point but in recent terms you've bettered their crowds in just one season (excluding this one) and they've spent 3 years in the top flight in the Star spangled Premier League era, you're very much similar sized clubs IMHO.

Home crowds yes as they got their stadium move, in past seasons we've been either at the bottom end of this division or in L1 in a ground that could only hold 19k with segregation.

They've still only spent three years in the top flight and 20 in this division, as you once said to me you can't erase history.

Our fan base has always been potentially much, much larger than Reading's and now we've caught them up you're seeing that somewhat.

Wasn't this year Reading's first Wembley sell out?

I'm sure they sold out in 1995.

You're from a bigger city, going on urban size, around twice the size, and not a London commuter belt, their crowds aren't great but before this season you weren't selling out the 19K gate were you. As I said in current terms I'd say there's little between you two but that is just my opinion.

Can't say I remember 1995....

No I know we weren't, but they were never, ever selling out Elm Park, their attendances were pathetic there, they benefited from a stadium move as we've benefited from a stadium revamp and now get bigger crowds than them.

What's your opinion based on, just recent home gates?

I'd love for us to get to the PL and fulfil this City's potential. It would be fucking quality if Rovers got their stadium in check and us, Rovers, you, Blades and some other decent rivalries like Cardiff and Swansea were in the PL. I've lost interest in it with mundane clubs like Stoke, Bournemouth, Burnley etc in the division, much prefer the Championship as a neutral.
