Dig the programme out please, I actually don't dispute you had a decent average, some away ends were big, Huddersfield, Bury etc but would like to see the numbers.

We sold out Huddersfield that season, probably not Bury as it was early on IRRC.

I'll have a look tonight though. We took 3000 to Rochdale on a Tuesday night that year.

Rochdale v Doncaster 2004 overall attendance 4601, stop chatting bollocks you struggled to sell your allocation at millmoor a couple times back then only selling behind the goal but not the side bit on 1 occasion.

We had 3500 at Rochdale in 2011 and the crowd was 5300 or something he could be right but talking bollox more likely

We actually sold out our allocation that night I was at the game, I’ve no idea what our average away attendance for those years were but for us in respect to our fan base it would have been high, we had 5 years of conference football after very nearly not existing then back to back promotions, I remember that we sold out our away allocations most of the time.

The only time we didn't sell the side is when we weren't allocated it, then at the last minute they amde it available for people on the day.

I doubt we'd struggle to sell out Rotherham at a time when we took 5000+ to Barnsley.

Programme's are in the loft, i'll get them out later, haven't had a chance. It will be funny - as I know you are all expecting to see shit away followings.

I expect our average to go up, 6 of our last 8 away games are Oldham, Donny, Blackburn, Blackpool, Dale and Scunny and I’d imagine Rotherham away will get rearranged amongst those games as we can’t play them on FA Cup third round day anymore. We’ve only played Wigan and Bury which you’d class as close games. Seemed to happen last year where we had all our close games towards the end of the season as well, not sure why. Guess you could look at it as a positive if we need support to push us over the line in the promotion race.

I don't doubt - pre-conference we would outnumber home fans at BelleVue and there would only by a few hundred at Blundell Park. The Donny revival is a great example for GTFC, our chairman should aspire to mimic; so far he's failed miserably to get anywhere near delivering a new stadium to follow the return from the Conference after 6 years. The downside for these new stadia at Donny, Chesterfield and Rotherham is they have come too early for safe standing - hopefully that might be the upside of delay for GTFC...

The thing for us is we manage to capitalise on an upturn in fortune. We went from Conference to Championship within 5 years, won the JPT and a new stadium in that time as well. We went from 1000 fans in the 90s, to averaging more than 12000 in the Championship.

The bubble has burst now though, and we are stagnating. This is showing in our away followings, although our home support is growing at a decent rate - 8300 at the moment. If we were challenging i'm confident that would be nearer 10k.

The reason our away support has dwindled is the quality of football. Despite winning promotion last season, we've had 4 or 5 seasons of absolute dire football. Turn that around and we will be back up towards the 1000 mark away from home.

Reverse for us, home crowds are poor, away followings still good and we are again top of the % of home at away games standings. Shit ground that used to hold 30k with 28k of that capacity terracing; now with added boarded up shops and pubs nearby - it is not what people want now. We get a good posse together to go watch Leicester Tigers a few times a season - 8 bars around the stadium plenty of room in them, nice clean bogs, kids creche, loads of food stands, band playing after - they average 21k - that's what people want now a nice day out. Some of us are GTFC some Scunny but rarely/never go to home games. It is 20 years since I went to more home games than away games.

Not expecting to see shit followings as it was your first season back in the football league but i don't believe those figures you have come out with and more than slightly exaggerated to fuck.
