I've tried to ignore press coverage of Trump in order to give him a chance but his Israel comment is just unhelpful, inflammatory and unnecessary - aside from being stupid, I don't see what he's trying to achieve. It's idiotic.

He’s appealing to his base. Evangelicals who literally believe that Jerusalem becoming the capital of Israel will accelerate the apocalypse and the second coming of Christ.
Terrifying

deeper than that fam - he's delivering for his masters - probably the only reason he's still in the post.

Further proof of the Trump family’s satanic origins

‘Kushner Companies owns at least half of 666 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, which in the decade since its purchase has proved a significant financial drain.’

It's truly essential for the future of mankind that this self-centered megalomaniac's reign comes to an end as soon as possible. It's scary that we need to wait another 3-4 years and, even then, we're relying on American's to not be mind-numbingly stupid two times on the bounce. Every time I think of him as president of the most powerful nation on earth I laugh and remind myself it is actually true.

Which is the bigger Trump fuck-up pulling out of the Paris agreement or the Jerusalem move.

Trump, Blair, Thatcher they are all the same, each and everyone in the pockets of big business

Trump wants a war because he would make billions personally.

What are you actually basing this statement on?
The fact he has business interests directly and indirectly in companies who would profit if a war broke out. It was the main reason he ran for office, i thought everybody was aware of this?

There is a rule in American politics called "The Goldwater Rule." This prevents American psychiatrists commenting on the mental stability (or lack of it in the case of Trump) of public figures.

It's so-called because a poll of psychiatrists conducted by a magazine in 1964 concluded that the then Presidential candidate Barry Goldwater was psychologically unfit for office. Goldwater sued - successfully - which resulted in the magazine going out of business and the American Psychiatric Association bringing in the rule.

I should imagine that by now the Trump Presidency must be testing their patience to the limit and it looks like one of their members may have broken ranks.

I read that Dr Lance Dodes, ex of Harvard University, suggests that the President is a "Psychopath" (his word) and "A very sick man." (also his words).

It was Trumps re-tweeting of Britain First propaganda that led Dr Dodes to say "It's another example of his being close to psychosis when stressed. The simple explanation for it, which people don't want to hear, is that he's not in control of himself. That is what we mean when he is becoming psychotic. All of his delusional ideas come when he is stressed, and then he loses track of reality because it doesn't fit what he needs to believe."

I think Dr Dodes has called it right.

For years the Republicans - and some Democrats for that matter have been denying Climate Change and saying God will save us. That is clearly deranged...

Bandy Lee is also weighing in with a book, articles and presentations to Congress about the narcissism.

Having seen the ugly monstrosity that is the new American Embassy in London it's hardly surprising that anybody - even Trump - would want to be associated with it.

Perhaps he thinks it's a brilliant building (that would be more like it) but is miffed that the Queen won't be receiving him at Buck House. Perhaps he's got a Wendy-on about the Prime Minister pulling him up about his tweets. Who knows.

Had he come I'm sure there would have been demonstrations and they might have turned nasty. I don't think we should do that. I think we should all line the route of his motorcade and laugh at him. Just imagine how that would drive him nuts.

The bottom line is that millions of Britons are overjoyed he won't be here. He can stay at home instead and work himself up into a frenzy over the size of his.... er..... nuclear button.

and in Germany neither. I still could puke that this clown was in Hamburg last year in July for the G20 summit. Hope he never sets foot again on German soil.

btw: He is even more unpopular here than Putin and this is something that even the daft G.W Bush couldn't reach, that most Germans hate an US President more than a Russian one (except Gorbatchov) ;)

The worst thing about Trump is that he's damaged the Office of President of the United States.

It is, historically, a noble Office and has been filled by some great men who have lived up to the role of Leader Of The Free World. Even the least able of them realised that, even if they personally were found wanting as administrators, the Office of President was so important that they at the very least behaved in a manner befitting the role. Well, except for Nixon who really was a crook. And Dubya, who we could forgive for being thick, but he became consumed by an insane revenge motive. But apart from those two, the others did their best to live up to the role.

Presidents are human and we all know that (ahem) "indiscretions" have occurred. Even Kennedy couldn't keep it in his trousers. But he attempted to be discreet about it and his wife, while knowing what her husband was up to, publicly held her head up high, protected her children and avoided making a scandal. A dignified wife and a good mother. One should not overlook the importance of the role of First Lady..... something that Mrs Trump seems to have not the slightest understanding of.

But Trump goes beyond the pale. Vain, arrogant, narcissistic, thin-skinned and temperamental. He shows no respect for anybody or anything. He has very little grasp of what's going on around him, appointing and dismissing advisers on a whim and never having a rational plan for anything, just the fevered workings of his wild imagination.

He came into the White House with a few extreme objectives set in his mind like concrete in the belief that all he had to do was stamp his feet and the political apparatus of the US would obey his every word. He seems unable to comprehend that politics is the Art Of Achieving The Possible. An art is what it is and he is a man bereft of any artfulness. He can neither persuade, coax or beguile. Instead he attempts to bully and when frustrated resorts to venting his anger on social media.

The Office of President of the United States of America is a lesser institution for Trump's occupancy of it. It is diminished in the eyes of the world.

I freely admit that I am not an Atlanticist. I have never believed that Britain's future is inextricably entwined with America. The so-called "Special Relationship" is not a fair or equitable arrangement and Washington only seems to ever acknowledge it when they want something from us. Britain has been the USA's back door into European markets for decades, providing rich pickings for them while they throw us scraps off their table. And the moment the British people voted to leave the EU, American business began courting the French. Again, good for them, but a glaring example to us of finding out who your friends are.

Perhaps things will be better after the next Presidential election. It beggars belief that the overwhelmingly sane, rational, good people of the United States would make the same mistake twice. I personally consider it inconceivable that Trump would win the fabled "Four More Years". All we can do in the meantime is sit out the next three and try to make the best of a bad job.

Just as long as he doesn't come here.

Reagan and the Contras, prison industrial complex, the drug war, etc. Truman and Korea. Kennedy and Vietnam. Various presidents and Cointelpro. McKinley and the Phillipines. We go back further and westward expansion, the genocide of indigenous American peoples, slavery and the various annexations of land across the southern border. How is any of this noble? We don't need to redeem the history of the executive to prove that Trump is awful.

If you judge presidents based on what they've actually done rather than the cunty things they say on Twitter, then he's probably about average. Obama, as an example, has far more blood on his hands. I'm not sure that saying nice things about diversity makes up for that.
