What Soup said basically, he constantly has a face on, looks weak, has no drive, doesn’t look like a threat, basically can’t be arsed, was out for about 6 months last season so we’ll be lucky to be able to shift him on.

As for Deverdics at left back that was a Craig Harrison master stroke, playing our most creative midfielder in defence, he was fucking useless there and consistently got his pants pulled down.

Should be a good signing for them. He seemed to stand-out at Southport and Eastleigh, both of whom were mid-table or lower sides. Both made him Captain quickly as well.

Not a surprise that he's left Vale so quickly because I don't think he's L2 level. Seemed a daft transfer at the time given that they paid money for him, too. Mid-table NL defender is about right for him IMO.

Maybe some truth in the Sam Russell coming to Pools rumour then.

Had a couple of good stints with us, well apart from not getting paid when we suffered financial difficulties. Other than that i thought he might of ended up back at Darlo after three spells with us?

Can’t see us in for a keeper like.
What’s happened with Donaldson? He was an excellent player for Gateshead and Cambridge. We also came close to signing him a few years ago. Something tells me poor coaching has been a factor, seeing as you thought Deverdics (who has no pace) would do a job at left back.

Only one person thought Deverdiks was a decent left back,he's now managing in the Welsh 2nd division

Been digging around for some info on him and he sounds rubbish. Oh well, he’ll fit in nicely then.
We had him for about 3 months to the end of the season. Wasn't bad, but surely you can do better.

Miles Anderson's career is funded by his dad. He looked okay for Torquay against us, but never got a look-in when he was on our books. Hartlepool won't be paying his wages, so that's a bonus.

A couple more things on Miles Anderson that disturb me

1. The missus walked past as I was watching his interview on Pools World and said 'oh he's lush' Have we signed him only to boost female season ticket numbers? I'm not overly worried though. Fortunately, I'm still much better looking...by a mile (see what I did there? ho ho ho)

2. He started speaking Italian in his interview but we won't talk about the look on my beloved other half's face while he was doing that.

3. His dad is an agent, knows Mark Maguire and fucked up Blackburn in partnership with the Venky's.

I hope Pools aren't playing silly buggers again and my marriage stays intact.
I think your Missus should’ve gone to Specsavers, he looks like he’s just been released from fucking Strangeways.

Probably an indication of how our summer will go, we've just signed Josh Granite from Ashton United. Anyone seen him play?

I hope to god we don't do a Ferriby and sign up a team of Evostik players, who will bravely battle to 10 points this season.

Wouldn't be too harsh on him, he could end up being your rock at the back :animatedf:

Luke Young signs for us. What type of midfielder is he?

Pleased with this signing. Must’ve been one of the most consistent midfielders at this level for a while. Shown good commitment to Torquay though. Someone who can spread passes around the pitch, can score goals, experienced in this league (and above) and is also a leader. He replaces either Wedge or Kelly then. Also impressed that he’s moving his young family in order to sign for us.
One signing and the midfield already looks better for next season. I also refuse to believe that Deverdics is as bad as he looked last season, probably more that he just didn’t want to play wide left, stupid from Keates really.

Yeah I can remember the Torquay fans raving about him a couple of seasons back before this awful injury he had; can't say I've seen much mention of him this season - played 40 league apps though.. (according to Soccerbase)

Been our best player for the last four years. Good ball playing midfielder, will put a shift in every game. Sometimes gets silly cards but haven't seen as much of that recently. I'm surprised he's joined you as I thought he was going to try and commute to a south west L2 team and was linked with Cheltenham and Yeovil. Finally realised there isn't much opportunity for progress down in Devon.

Really wish him all the best.

Barrow have signed Jack Hindle and Astley Mulholland from Colwyn Bay

I think my fears that we're 'doing a Ferriby' are starting to ring true. I'd be very surprised if either of them are Conference standard, given that nobody seemed to be raving about them last season.

Saw him in the play off final the other weekl. Solid uncompromising centre half. A good 'hoofer' of the ball, if that's your chosen style. Very much a traditional evo stick league defender, not much more to say really.

Sorry for my lack of rock based jokes there :bg1:

Bit of a commitment from him as well as us, we can't go round offering 2 year deals lightly these days. Hope he settles up here quickly.

Seems a good signing, good age and is clearly fit enough after that injury. Then again I thought most players last season were good signings. If we still had Wedgbury then I'd imagine Young would have been the perfect foil.

Is he better in a 3 man midfield then? We don't even know what formation we'll be playing yet.

With us he worked better having more freedom in a 3-man midfield, I'd say. He can work in a 2-man midfield but does tend to get dragged out of position at times - although that may have been down to having to do the work of half of our team in recent seasons. If he settles well you've got one of the better midfielders outside of the promised land.

We haven't made any new signings so far, which is good news because it means we haven't signed anybody from North bloody Ferriby.
